Tar Beach STORY

This Reading Rainbow episode features Tar Beach by Faith Ringgold, a story about a young girl who dreams of flying above her Harlem home. Everyone needs a special place where they can think and daydream. LeVar takes viewers up on the roof to a “tar beach,” an urban oasis in the sky. The featured book is read by actress Ruby Dee.
