my moms cousins 2 sons were once out of the country at night somewhere in Iceland and from a distance they saw a volcanic eruption that wasn’t too gnarly but it was pretty scary, they have it all on camera and it still shocks me that they had it all recorder
I was amazed when I first saw it. One of the other folks I was travelling with declared that it was just smoke from a fire or something.. I was looking at it and thought, there’s no way. That’s a damn volcano! Incredible that people inhabit that area when it is quite visibly a volcano sticking out of the Mediterranean. They have built up one side of the mount that doesn’t appear to have frequent lava flows. I guess if you’re going to live on a volcano, at least be smart about it.
@deathbloom27 not to mention any ears would've exploded any glass or fragile solids would 1 shatter or fall snd shatter. Imsgine you living your life out on street as a merchant in Pompeii, the ground starts shaking and you start praying to the gods then you hear an earth shaking boom commons from the mountain you look and the top of the mountain has exploded and black acrif smoke with lighting snd patches of fire is blowing upwards.
How many atomic bombs would it take to make the same affect ???? Gods way of saying "I'm still far greater and powerful than man ". Just a mere demonstration of his mighty hand and will.. 💒💒💒💒💒.
These eruptions happen often, and smaller eruptions happen constantly and have been for 2,000 years. People live on the island and the ash and rock usually falls into the sea harmlessly, from a safe distance observing should be fine.
@@calipoxoThis volcano does have one thing in common with Vesuvius that destroyed Pompeii and that is the Pyroclastic flow coming down the mountain. It also flowed out into the the sea for some distance. The hot ash and gases would fry everything in its path just as happened to Pompeii. Fortunately, no people were seriously threatened by this eruption.
Wise words. 'Look!.. Stay far away'
This is over a year old already, I'm pretty sure it's ok now.
Idk why but it sounded funny when she said that lol
That is the volcano of Stromboli, Sicily if you are wondering
That could be what a Stromboli does inside you if eaten too fast.

The lighthouse of the mediterranean
The Smoke were bigger than the Volcano itself
The 79 ad vesuvius eruption smoke was 20 times higher than the actual volcano
The smoke was bigger
The earth burped.
Stromboli.
I have sailed past it on a few occasions whilst it was erupting, it's even more incredible at night.
The people of Pompeii and the neighboring places must have had the same sight.
Much, much bigger. They likely would have felt a huge shock wave too. They had no chance.
At the time the volcanos were much bigger
Not even close

Run? 🤷...swim.
Mount Etna erupted in Sicily on 26 Nov 2023 . There hasn't been a volcanic eruption since then.
Thinking back to St Helens where the top 1/3 or more of the mountain was blown away, would suggest this one is just a baby eruption.
This is the Stromboli Volcano so naturally it having a strombolian eruption which much calmer than the Plinian eruption of Mt St Helens. 😂
True, but this volcano has been almost continuously erupting for the last 2000-5000 years.
