Iveco stands for = I Vibrate Everything Comes Off
IVECO - Intense Vibration Everything Comes Off
Great Vlog as usual . Been agency for two years and love it. Only had one week without work and gained loads of experience.
Another brilliant and informative vid' mate. Drive/stay safe!
Excellent video Raul a real insight to what a agency driver has to deal with and your different opinions from the truck your driving the places such as Boston and the pros and cons of agency work keep up these long videos there excellent have a safe upcoming week
Thanks
Good evening Raul and I hope you are enjoying the Renault T and stay safe 👍 on the road this week.
"That's all of that, lets do it in English" brilliant 😂😂
Been Agency 5 years now, like you said there are downsides but imo all outweighed by the fact that I decide when and where I work. Great vid as usual.
Great video Raul. Keep them coming. Best on CZcams 👍👍
As a newbe these videos are helping! Thank you!
Keep going your doing so great you deserve a reward, i will panic when i drive a lorry :(
My late Grandad said "Mamsell-Vooley voo jig a jig avec moa ...Compbien? " Was a great way to meet the locals.
Thankyou for your vlog 🤣 and enjoy your weekend and chill with your wife. I’m sure she loves you home too 😁
Hi Raul . The Iveco jacket joke was so funny 😂 You’re a great guy 👍🏻
The French bits were spot on fair play 😂😂 great vlog and great truck
Great video as always Raul, Reno T are very smooth on the road usually
The Renault Hi Top looks epic
the T cab not as much .
A good paint job helps
👍
Thanks my friend for the video may be I will visit England early next year .
Agencies would sell their mother to save 50p per hour. And yes they all do have their pets.
Same as some companies, I worked agency then full time for a company that paid per job, mileage, tips, loads, trailer changes, the good old boys always got what suited them and you got the shite, occasionally they would throw you some scraps and think they were doing you a favour.
Box on back to front could be loading scrap metal - I've had it where a machine lifts off the box and stands the box up vertical then it's loaded with a crane/shovel then the box is put back on the skelly! Or he's cocked up!
The scrap metal usually gets loaded in the 20ft boxes because it gets heavy really quick. I know i loaded a lot of them. If they would load that in 40ft boxes the weight will be over 50 tonnes
@@Raul689 I had aluminium in a 40ft tipped up - it didn't look to clever!
Done agency work for 5 years, loved it.
Raul , love the content great advice for new drivers ,, didn't realise those Renaults are really volvo s ,, I've always been a fan of the magnum,,, sorry I've been a bit late with a thumbs up ,just had a busy week,, OK Raul take care my friend
Thanks a lot and have a great week 👍
Hi Raul, the word is "Mercenary" lol love the vids
You are the King of the road in this renault😁
Another great video buddy.👍👍
"Oh sorry, I didn't notice you were here. I was just about to eat my tissue."
😂 I love how it really feels like we're really in the truck with you Raul!
great vid as always m8
Thanks for showing what you bring in your bag, very useful to know what essential items you must have in your bag. When I will start driving lorries I will buy my own Navigation (tomtom or garmin), maybe you could recommend better one from your own experience? And yea thanks again for simple tips, nice stories and little jokes.
I will always choose garmin
@@Raul689 what is the difference from other brands?

I find it more reliable then the tomtom and more user friendly but hey that's just me
Yup, Liverpool is an awesome city, but when you're from Stoke on Trent anywhere is 😁
EPIC vide Raul. Had me worried at the beginning, speaking French hahaha Some of us English never learnt a second language. If the Agency plays those games, ask the company if they will pay you cash in hand ;) At Agency rate with no tax etc.. ;) or is there a full time job available . Tell the truth Raul ;) you do it because you are such a great guy, you know we would miss you and your videos. So do what you want to do, we are all behind you I am sure. In our trade, we got the union involved, as they made 805 redundant due to lack of work, yet they employ Agency to cover them, and we operate 24/7. That is not a lack of work, so to make them upset shall we say, we got union etc.. involved and now they get sick and holiday pay benefits as full timers. It backfiring a bit now due to covid, Where we would have 5 people working, we now have only two. So the extra they spend on Agency, they get back by us down manning. Looking forward to next one ;)
I start a hgv course on the 22nd of November in Ireland, they pay for all my cpc, adr and all my other qualifications to become a truck driver, I’m excited to start my career and your videos make me want to start even more!
Thanks a lot and keep up the great work !

Raul..been agency driver for years..I like you feel at times they have favourites at our expense.. let them carry on with there snake ways but promise me...NEVER EVER FORGET... KEEP ON EARNING BROTHER ..BE SAFE 👍👍👍😁
Years ago the ignition failed on the Merc truck I was driving, M1 motorway, close to Leeds, third lane, heavy traffic, downhill. F-ing dreadful. Engine dead. Kicked gear lever into neutral. Power steering dead. Brakes awful. Somehow made it safely onto the hard shoulder. Impossible today. "Smart" motorways!
Hi Raul I thought I seen you in elderpoint containers Kirkby on fri 29.10 it as stupidly busy was just about to give you a shout but got called in ..
Wasn't me. This video is from last week. No containers
25 degrees in the cab !, i'd be asleep at that temperature !, 16 is fine for me ! . it toke me 6 1/2 hours to drive 260 miles to Southampton . and that was in a car !, 4 1/2 to get back, but that was after midnight !
The way this man turns his steering tho!!

I find agencies, pay on time, on target and the money is better than the £10/HR that the hauliers give.
Agree with the agency vs employee thing. Works for some, not for others.
Personally, I have a full-time office job Mon-Fri, so only do trucking on weekends. I work through an agency, even though I'm only working for a single company. My contract is such that the agency isn't required to offer me any hours, and I'm not obliged to accept anything they offer.
Back when I was doing weekend work the first time (pre-2008) it meant that sometimes there were occasional weekends where I would have been available to work but nothing was offered. I started doing it again due to the current shortage, but this time I can basically tell them what hours I'm willing to work (within the regs), and I've not had an empty day yet. No stupid 4am start times - woohoo!
If I want to have a weekend off (because I want to do something else, or I just can't be bothered), then it's not a problem.
This is the kind of setup I am after, I also work Mon-Fri in an office. I am a new pass though so no experience pursuing this kind of setup or driving commercially. Did you find it fairly easy to arrange this work agreement, any advice on how to go about it? I worry that lack of credible experience will make it so much more difficult to find a setup that works around the office job. Have heard many saying you can’t be picky when newly passed, but I can’t leave my current job just to get experience for weekend roles
@@cameronk7165 obviously our situations are quite different, but I didn't have much of a problem. In both cases, I was upfront with the agency - I told them my position, that I'd only be able to work weekends as I already had a full-time job, and if they were interested then great, but if not, then that's fine too. In both cases they took me on. So, the main bit of advice I'd give is just to be honest with them.
It might take a bit of time before you earn the agency's trust and they start giving you more regular work. With my first agency, my experience was that they'd offer work to the people that worked most recently, so only doing the odd weekend, they'd tend to forget about you. The best thing to do was to ring them on Thursday or Friday morning to tell/remind them that you're available for the weekend. Agency clients that normally won't take a new pass/limited experience driver will often "bend" the rules if they're desperate. So, get yourself in the agency's head at the time when their client rings up and says "we really need someone urgently".
Be reliable. You don't have to accept everything, but if you do accept, make sure you turn up and do the job. I've not seen it this time around, but last time I was doing supermarkets, every transport office would have a list on the wall/whiteboard of the agency drivers that hadn't turned up that day. Some drivers will register with multiple agencies, accept one booking, and then dump that if they get a better offer from someone else (often without even bothering to tell the first agency). Earn yourself a reputation as someone that is reliable and turns up.
First time around, I started doing rigid work, moving to artics after about a year or so. Rigid work is often foodservice - delivery to pubs, restaurants, etc. It's physically hard work with lots of handball, and lots of early starts (typically 4am). Lots of transport companies like early starts (4-6am), so if you're willing to do that, that will help broaden the range of work you can get. In my case, I've already done my share of that when I was younger, and can't be bothered with it any more - I've already worked 5 days during the week, so if the agency wants me to work on the weekend, then they need to offer a sensible start time; if not, then I'll just stay at home.
Second time around (after a break of about 15 years), I had enough experience to be able to pass an assessment with one of the supermarket chains (especially the reversing test; everyone is always terrible at reversing artics when they've only just passed). They're operating 24/7 and are desperate for drivers so they'll basically take whatever hours I'm willing to do.
Remember that your regular job is classed as other work. If you're already doing Mon-Fri, then you can only do one day per fortnight as you have to have a 45h weekly rest every other week. You also need to make manual entries into the tacho for your other work at the start of each shift, which takes quite a bit of time.
Make sure you're well clued up on Drivers' Hours Regs and other Theory Test type of stuff as the agency will probably test you.
Don't be afraid to admit that you're new. Whenever I went into a new client/delivery point, I'd always say something like "It's my first time here, so feel free to assume I'm an idiot that knows nothing". A bit of self-deprecating humour always helps.
Good luck.
Excellent advice from Mr Flibble - I do agency work and only weekends and never had any problems with that. If I want to do a Wednesday as well, for example, I just tell them and certainly when it’s busy they’ll find me something. Good luck & hope it works out for you.
Loving the content, honestly helps as I’m currently in the process of getting my class 2 then into class 1. How far are you willing to travel for an agency job?
30 minutes tops
Thank you.

The Wife " have you been sacked again? " lol!!!!! Good summation Raul. Never worked Agency but opted for permanent casual a couple of times for the money and independence. Over time Managers, conditions, trucks etc change and always reserved the right to prescribe myself the DCM (Don't come Monday - or any other day). Wasn't aware Volvo were wholesaling their motors and gearboxes - don't see any benefit to them propping up the likes of Renault. The flapping 'tails' on the turnbuckles on your tautliner would annoy me no end in the mirrors haha! Much enjoyed - and the French was impressive.🙁
I think Volvo own Renault.
@@trucktasticsussex8183 Your right and I wasn't aware of that. We don't have Renault trucks in this country. Wikipedia state it was via the Renault Trucks purchase, from the parent company, that Volvo came into possession of Mack Trucks, both of which are built side by side here. Having operated both gotta say the Volvo is my strong preference. Thanks for the clarification.
Absolutely love the hour long video, just out if interest have you ever driven a lorry in Ireland, N/Ireland or have ever considered it? Anyway cheers from the wee Emerald Isle off the west coast of Britain!

I always like Renault trucks. the last one I drove was 2008 premium. The colleagues was saying: that is an awfull piece of s***t, but i love IT.
In the current company i say in our fleet manager, that i can take a new Renault T high model as the next tool.
But he answered me: SUCH ARE NOT FOR US 😢.
yes we are a scania house. but a small side step would do good 🤣
we had Agency Truck Drivers most of the time they never did a full load , 4 not 6 in a day lol.
Hi from France,
I'm an Aussie who lives and works in France.
I was looking forward to hearing it in French but not to be, quelle domage.
I drive à T460 Renault here pulling à petrol tanker (for B.P.).
The Renault is a really nice truck,i work 10 to 12 hour days,loading/delivering service stations in and around Lyon, so yeah they are very confortable, they are quite easy to drive (a four year old could drive them) fuel economy is just out of this world (between 23 litres and 28 litres per 100 kms) i really, really like the Renault.
MAN is a piece of shit, i fucking hate those those trucks.
I had a Scania for a while,I'm really sorry but i didn't like it,the sleeper (the bunk) was far too narrow, but hey no hate mail.

When in a shortage of Drivers, do Agencies see the risk of Cancellations?
The Truck only earns when it has loads: how often do you run "Empty"?
What is your usage % on hours run?
How does UK compare with the Continent?
I have a Friend about to be an Owner/Driver.
Been told by another experienced, to have a Cash Flow back-up of 10K.
there is always a risk of cancelation. i run empty most of the times. but it depends on what kind of contracts the company has. maybe it gets paid for the round trip, like containers. UK is more relaxed than the continent. less paperwork but you wont do as much km on this traffic. or maybe if you get scotland runs

Renaults look the best hands down. I'm sick of looking at Scanias cheese-graters. Fair-play for going to the garage to fix the window quickly even if it did ruffle some feathers. Some companies would put drivers heads outside the cab as long as it got the job done. Fk-em.
I was a recruiter/agency for another industry for a while so I know why they move you. Same reason you say, they are chasing the money. Its all business. What you really should be asking the employer is how much they are paying the agency for you. Find out their margin and then ask for a pay rise. If the employer likes you and wants to keep you, you will get it or they lose the contract. I'll left recruitment to become a truck driver, passed my class 1 a week ago, waiting for my dqc to start working!
thanks for the insight. all the best!
