    How cool is this?! Remember being taught these techniques in Jr. High during Geometry class (which I loved!) but that was somewhere the other side of a half-century ago and the tools we used weren't nearly this precision. In High School, I'd walk past a drafting class (wasn't sure what it was then) and shyly peer in hoping the teacher might say 'come on in, can I help you?' so I could ask if girls were allowed to be in that class and if we needed special requirements to attend (like math grades), but no... never did so I kept on walking. It's a shame since it's been an interest all my life and something I'd have truly enjoyed learning. Instead, I taught myself digital compositing when old enough to afford a 21" Cintiq and computer to use it with. My guy is a Mechanical Engineer so he learned ALL this stuff and had a huge drafting table built in his office for blueprints used for refinery work. He is so amazing...

    It is a problem in particular with melamine surfaces, professionals use a vinyl surface that holds the compass point in position. The other way is to use thicker paper that doesn't tear so easily. Thin tracing paper can be a nightmare because it becomes brittle.

    How do you avoid poking a hole in the paper when drawing a circle with the compass?

    oh my god... how did you even achieve this audio? Almost unwatchable. Thanks for uploading, but dang. You should probably just delete the audio and do a new voice over.

    u have 2 use a different scale for measurements called as triangular scale... or measurement scale..... t scale and set square aren't supposed to be used for measurements...!!

  • @najmlion7129
    @najmlion7129 Před 9 lety

    how would you measure a length of a line when you don't even have markings on the side of your set square???

    • @chrsdyer
      @chrsdyer  Před 9 lety

      You would use a ruler. If you are drawing to scale then you would use the right scale ruler.

    • @najmlion7129
      @najmlion7129 Před 9 lety

      wouldn't it be easier to have markings on your set square?

    • @chrsdyer
      @chrsdyer  Před 9 lety

      *****
      You would need a different set square for each scale that you use. On a single scale rule you can get 4 or 6 scales on one rule.

    • @najmlion7129
      @najmlion7129 Před 9 lety

      but if you are only drawing to one scale would you recommend using and adjustable set square or 2 set squares?

    • @chrsdyer
      @chrsdyer  Před 9 lety

      *****
      I found a way that worked for me with the tools I had. A scale rule, a T square, an adjustable 45deg square and a 30-60deg square. You might find it easier to work in another way with different tools. Experiment. As long as the drawing gives the right information it's all the same.
      It is midnight here and I'm off to bed, good luck!
