Luther College Nordic Choir, Allen Hightower, Conductor, Gregory Peterson, Organist, performs Benjamin Britten's Te Deum in concert. Luther College is located in Decorah, IA.
I had the honor of singing in the University of Arizona Symphonic Choir and in 1972 we performed this piece. It is still one of my all time fav's of choral music. Beautiful rendition.
I have never heard of this choir. They're EXCELLENT. Diction and intonation are *impeccable*. Honestly, the performance by this choir is better than the recording I have of this piece.
This is a stunning performance - impeccable diction, beautiful tone, great intonation, and memorized! Bravo Luther College! The organist was very good too. He registered well, but I confess to not being a big fan of organs of this particular era (it sounds like a '60's Holtkamp).
Groups of this caliber... St. Olaf, Concordia, Luther...Under Paul J. Christiansen we had 9 hours between choir and sectionals per week. We never performed with music.
@aphex71 The Nordic Choir never performs with a score in hand. Always memorized. You need to realize groups of this caliber practice 8-10 hours a week.
You need to spend time in the practice room with the scores. I was an instrumentalist but at this level you need to make perfect in practice what you can't in choir. Ain't they great though, what a treat to listen to.

I live about three hours away, and just started using CZcams a bunch. I will make the drive to Decorah to hear this choir soon. They have it all.

The Middlebury College choir under Emory Fanning also performed everything without scores. And Prof. Fanning played the organ and conducted the choir.
