I always remembered this episode as funny. And it is. But this scene is so good. You can feel them contemplating their loss and see them beginning to grieve each other.

This is the best 2-parter in the entire series because there are no lulls. If it's not funny, it's serious.
I love how this scene reveals sh loves him and will keep him around but is so sad about his body. That said a lot this point in time.

So true, I think it's because she leaves him and we have to wait for the switch back. You know they are both thinking about what could have been.
Poor Scully was already done with the FBI at this point she literally only stayed because Mulder asked her to, and then she loses him anyway. Luckily we hit the reset button and it’s all fine.
I love how sad she is realizing that she loves Mulder body and soul, she cant really accept the beautiful body with the stupid soul, but what is even more shocking, she misses the beautiful body lots with the beautiful soul.. at that point she admits to us that all this physicsl proximity from beforehand was physicsl attraction 😈

Well, it was Mulder's way of saying goodbye, they wasn't sure he was gonna make it, and he gave he the seeds so she will always remember him. Remember he was always eating sunflower seeds.
