He was in the petrol car which is in white and drove the diesel, red car is diesel.. Honda has perhaps given these same two cars to all the reviewers.
Petrol is auto only and that too a CVT so I assume he didn't want to drive it.
Also this segment is Only alive due to diesel power, c+ segment is a dying segment in India, which is why we are getting this mid life refreshed Civic, launched internationally in 2016.
Also explains why Honda didn't care about bringing in a new engine and instead used the 'same' engine from Civic sold in India till 2012. Honda sells this engine with the CVT only, everywhere else. IMO Honda is only 'testing' the waters here so not trying to invest too much, especially in the wake of fresh competition for City which has dented sales..

They're on point with diesel.. but i was very dissapointed over the the petrol powered torque figures... moreover the lack of manual on the petrol version is just very sad. I was really excited for the civic. But good to see that Honda hasn't given up on diesels just yet.

But if you take Civic Si, it crushes the Octavia.

The car definitely looks sexy... Two things I miss in the new Civic, an organ type accelerator pedal and oppositely pivoted windscreen wipers both my favourite. Faisal you could have driven at the top most gear to gives us the sense of engine noise. You were doing 100 odd kmph at 3rd gear and it's obvious for the engine to scream. Octavia is no doubt a better car and it's genuinely fast but Civic and Honda has its own fan followings.

I agree the cruze has a powerful and fun to drive engine, but on quality and reliability terms, it sucks. Honda's are the most reliable, and people usually buy Honda's for the vtec engine. civic a would have been a killer with a manual petrol.
A Diesel motor returning 15 kmpl is not very very very very nice. It would have been very very very very nice only if it were a Petrol engine with such average figures. However, I liked the video, as always.
