- Cyan is a combination of secondary color green and white-tinted blue. This color is almost similar to Turquoise and Cerulean, what makes it unique from the two is the existence of green pigments. That is why Cyan is known as greenish-blue.

It's better to buy cyan if you can find it, as cyan is a primary colour, but this might help you get out of a bind. but it won't be as vibrant as true cyan. Buy if you have cyan you can make blue and green much easier, than the other way around.
I agree, store-bought cyan is more vibrant. I guess mixing it from RBY is our last resort.
Thank you so much! I searched everywhere how to get cyan colour but at last! Phew...Thanks a lot☺
Glad that I was able to help. 😁
It's called teal, they sell it in shops.
@@europeanroyalty4778 actually you are right there, it is identical to turquoise and teal. Maybe they are family of colors
That is not cyan, that is teal. Very desaturated so-called "cyan". Better known yet "teal", which is basically a dark cyan.
Hahahaha i think so too 😂
how is that possible? Cyan is Primary Color
For what I know Blue, Yellow, and Red are the primary colors. 🙂
Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow are the true primary colors of pigment. You can make Blue from Cyan and Magenta and Red from Magenta and Yellow. You can also get a brighter Green by mixing Cyan with Yellow instead of Blue with Yellow.
@@Tsikoh
What blue did you use? If it's phthalo, then thats actually the color artists use a lot to get a color close to a "true" cyan.
If its something like ultramarine, which a lot of newbs use and think is "primary blue", it's literally scientifically impossible to get cyan, because it contains a slight amount of red. You will never ever ever i your entire life get a nice, non-muddy cyan blue from ultra marine, and if you think you did... someone has been lying somewhere. Because its literally scientifically impossible to get cyan when there is red(magenta) mixed into it.
@@Tsikoh
Well you're wrong... Especially if by red, you mean firehydrant red. Which has yellow in it.. Obviously thats not a primary when its mixed.
@@SilverishKitten you should make a video on how to get red by mixing magenta. Interesting and definitely helpful for newbies :)
That was brilliant!! Thank you !
Glad you enjoyed it!
Cyan is actually a primary colour, along with magenta and yellow. Your cyan looks a little too dark(well, all paint sources are impure anyway)
Yeah, unfortunately, there are no true cyan base pigments, so artists have to settle for mixing imperfect ones from other base pigments.
@@DANGJOS well, they are all imperfect. The magenta and yellow aren’t perfect. However, you can make every colour in CMYK subtractive colour space, but setting everything to max in RYB colour space makes… dark red, a colour I call maroon. CMYK + W paint would be able to make every colour if they were pure, but unfortunately, they are impure.
cyan isn't a primary color because it takes blue and yellow in order to make it's hue in the first place. if you extract either color it will never make cyan.
@@atoribeck True cyan does not require yellow at all.
@@DANGJOS
"Cyan (/ˈsaɪ.ən, -æn/)[1][2][3] is the color between green and blue on the visible spectrum of light.[4][5] It is evoked by light with a predominant wavelength between 490 and 520 nm, between the wavelengths of green and blue.[6]"

How do you get green? By mixing blue and yellow.
Lovely, I've tried various mixes to get turquoise. This looks close to it can we call it turquoise blue?
Great eyes, now you mentioned it. It is close to turquoise. Thanks. 😊
Thank you, very helpful!
awesome
Thanks! Glad you like it
It's not as bright as cyan really is.
Yeah I noticed that too, trying to experiment as well how can I perfectly achieved it thru primary colors. 😊
I'm struggling with that particular color for a while now, never figured it out
@@Tsikoh it’s because cyan is actually a primary colour.
Dark cyan exists, it's just a hue
I have a very dark dining room. I want to paint it Cyan, but nobody knows how to mix it. I have gone to Sherwin Williams ,Lowes and Home Depot . I just want to fix up my dining room before the holidays 😩.
How about turquoise? Its almost similar to cyan. 😊
@@Tsikoh I have thought about it. I have seen where cyan is called bright turquoise so, I will try that. Thank you. 😊
@@renniediaz-sterling8346 cyan is not possible to mix, but you can make colours close to cyan, like shown in this video.
@@Tsikoh hey, I’ve seen some comments in this video. Can you watch this video? czcams.com/video/NVhA18_dmg0/video.html people are saying paints and inks have different primary colours, when they are the same. You might already be aware now but I want you to understand the CMY thing better(I generally want people interested in art to know this since RYB make very muddy colours and CMY create really bright colours so they are true primary, as they create the biggest set of colours out of every set)
To be honest, I am not an expert. But I am one of those artist who learned to mix colors by listening, reading, and watching other artist. Maybe I need to change the title of my videos, for there are teaching that might be different from what I understood at first. From the link you shared I am grateful to learn CMY 😊. And as an artist I must not limit myself in RYB. You could say that I am a passive person. I would love to try CMY as my primary this coming weekend.
Some of the artist I know, they are using magenta instead of red, and the results is stunning.
I really enjoyed your video 💞
Hi, which blue and yellow did you use for mixing ?
How do you do this with Apple Barrel brand? My mix of white and blue doesn’t look like that and I get more of a powder blue.
Apple brand? Im using Reeves or Liquitex. I believe sometimes it depend with the pigments formulated by the paint manufacturer. Will try to find apple brand in art store and will try it out. 😊
That’s because of the light absorption of different concentrations. The blue is is using when mixed with white turns into a near cyan, instead of light blue. (Light blue is more like periwinkle)
Thank ya Chico
Wow !! It's amazing!!
Thank you! Cheers!
my light blue turns sky blue but yours turns cyan instantly
Thank you
Cyan + blue = what color
Thanks dude
i was expecting to get muichiro's hair color but u got another shade of blue. so disappointing. can u try again😡🤬
What blue?!? Is that a Phthalo... Green shade, blue shade, red shade, yellow shade? A Cobalt? Doesn't look cerulean nor ultramarine....
And what yellow that is?!
Can I directly use green?
You may. 😊
Which blue and yellow did you use?
Hi, I used the primary blue and yellow.
@@Tsikoh Ok! Thanks
Can I use water colour to make cyan??
I have not tried it in WC if the color effect is the same. 😔
Can we use ultramarine blue..will this give same intensity of color
Hmm to be honest I haven’t tried. But that is a good thing to try 😊
@@Tsikoh so many blues..I'll try..nd thanks for reply nd the video..
How does your blue come out so bright? I tried this and my blue came out a light sky color qnd then I mixed it with green qnd it just made a light blue green
Im using liquitex blue. The key is to control it with titanium white. Sometime the brand affects the quality of mixes. Hope this helps. 😊
I thought you can not make green because it's a primary color. Confused now.
Oh hi Karen. Lately I am getting a comments saying that green is the primary and some sorts of you cant make it a green out of other color. I am not an expert, everything in this channel is what I've learned as a self taught. But way back my initial years in trying to learn to paint, I was taught and read some books about painting that primary colors were RED, BLUE, and YELLOW. Then green is secondary color for you can make them from the primary. Maybe is some teaching or books green is not part of the PRIMARY family. :)
@@jjk2one LOL to be honest its easier to paint with pre-mixed colors out from the tube. But that isn't for me, I cant buy them all (LOL). Anyway regardless of their color ranking, they still do wonderful piece.
@@jjk2one people who say green is primary are not wrong. They are just talking about light, which had different primary colours to paint.
How does your blue come out so bright? Mine is lighter but still dull...
To be honest, I have no idea 😁
But I am using Liquitex for my blue and yellow.
It could be because you might be using Prussian blue, ultramarine blue, or cobalt blue but the blue used in this video seems like cerulean blue. Hope it helps :)
If you know among us, there is this cyan colour character. If you know it then it requires a lighter shade. So to make it lighter, do we just add white or some other colours?
It’s impossible to create a bright cyan by mixing pigments. Cyan is a pigment primary colour
@@ethanalgicosathlonchannel1110 ooh okayy
@@hxh57 you can make less bright, grey cyans as shown in this, adding more white would decrease the saturation further, not increase it
What if I just use green with light blue?
I believe they end the same result, just be careful with the green, its a strong one. 😊
@@Tsikoh Oh okay thanks
Cyan is a primary color along with magenta and yellow hence you can’t make cyan mixing other colors, it is primary.
The white paints are unnecessary but all right
Im gonna try that. 😊
Thanks!
Do you know how to talk??????
Imagine painting with plastic. 🤣🤣🤣
