Its very common for relatives/friends/strangers you met on the public transport to ask you the following questions
How much do you earn?
Are you married?
Do you have kids?

Interesting thing you said about burning the flag. People often can't differentiate between the government and the country. That's why a lot of people are labelled as anti-nationals in our country for raising issues they have with the government.
Protesting against a government should come under freedom of speech and is an integral part of a democracy but burning your own country's flag isn't equivalent to that. The flag represents the country and one should not disrespect it. At least that's what I believe, bring born in a defence background.
