This old truck has been hidden away in the deep south of Mississippi for most of its life, and the last 15 years have taken a toll on it. But this 41 year old truck is still hitting on all 8 and still drives straight.

The Beau James was a special edition Sierra that offered a smoother ride by fitting a 3/4-ton frame on a softer 1/2-ton suspension. Buyers had a choice of 454ci or 350ci V8 engines. Special features included two-tone blue-and-white paint schemes, velour seats, wire wheels with whitewalls, and a special “Beau James” hood ornament. Approximately 4,000 were built.
I recently picked one up. They are much less in numbers now probably in the hundreds.
Never heard of this model! Great save!!! Man that lived in town had a Gentlemen Jim. Dad had the Big 10 Cheverolet and I rember a lot of Heavy Halfs back when I was a kid in 80s. I know the Cheverolets where to get around government regulations, but sounds like the GMC James and Jim's where pure luxury sales.
Poor pickup. Someone tried to beat the hell out of it.

Sure only 4000 made, the Gentleman Jim was at 1200, I think Arguably the rarest is the Spirit of American at around 250.
I have a Beau James in my Garage. Got it in 1979. Last year rebuilt it from frame up, showroom clean. Local GMC Dealer wants to display it in their showroom. I let it get in a bad shape like yours or maybe worst. It can be done...over several months I spent about 9 grand on it. I get offers for twice that a lot more, but not ready to sell.
Mine has a 350. Still need to have new a/c unit put in tho. Most of my parts came from LMC Truck catalog. at 800-562-8782 tell em what year GMC and they will send you a catalog with all the parts you need..
