Dilla had a talent for finding the perfect tone make you FEEL instead of just listening. He inspires...and I have to say this:
It's equally difficult having friends (guys) that know about and listen to Dilla. And as someone who got put on to Dilla by my sister and her friends, lets lay off the ladies ; )

I agree. The industry is for the moment. Real music will NEVER go stale! All youngins have to do is listen to Donnie Hathaway, Stevie Wonder...those cats spawned alot of what we hear in Neo-Soul today...and their sound is timeless. I can't agree that all neo is greatness, but Dwele is definitely one of those cats the world needs to hear...not Lil Wayne. Add Dilla to the mix? BOOM!!!

I think we have different definitions of mainstream and underground.....and therefore have different expectations of that genre.
my basic summation is this...if im at a party or club....u can keep ur underground stuff in the cases and blast the "terrible mainstream"...but if im at the spot playing pool or something....bring the j dilla/blackstarr/common/old school busta....whether u wanna call one mainstream and the other underground...is ur choice

Sure, hip hop aint what it used to be, and sure, it has changed for the worse... that doesn't mean i'm fuckin banned from bumping Lil Wayne or whoever else i wanna listen to. Hell, i bump a few Jeezy tracks from time to time, i know he just talks about coke but i still love that Mr. 17.5 instrumental
