- Have you ever had a fishing trip that left you baffled? I experienced something that I've never had happen while frog fishing. It was a day of fun catches. However, there was also heartbreak and disbelief. Thanks for watching feeshin friends!

Better get some turtle leaders. I think they have them at Turtle Pro Shops down in Snapperville, MO.
Ahhahahah those things are no joke! I will have to get the leaders out 🤣👊
I would be mad too if I lost my topwater. Then again I lose lipless cranks like it's my job.
Lipless cranks destiny in this world is to decorate a lake bottom snag of some description. It is not so much a job as a vocation for me to leave them all over a lake bottom. I even catch the odd fish on them between snags.
I know man. I don't mind losing the lure, just not in a big fish. I want that guy there for years to come.
I always hear that squarebills are best around rock and shallow cover because "they deflect off cover so well" but I get snagged so much when I do throw them
@@brianrobinson9979 I am pretty sure the lures I buy have snag magnets built into them.
@@brianrobinson9979 yeah, you kind of have to work them around large standing timber. They don't to great around bushy/twiggy wood. Great around rock too!
Debo , not only are you kicking some knowledge your entertaining as well keep it up man!
Appreciate that a lot man. It's all because of awesome folks like you who support my channel 👊👊👊 Thanks for watching!
WOW, just WOW... I felt ya when you set and lost that poppin perch... the 5 ish second pause and silence, my heart sank! total case of the FEELS!!! lol. good video Debo!
Yeah, I wanted to yell numerous obscenities...but I held my tongue 🤣 Thanks for watching man!
Calm water and no wind...wish I had those conditions lately. Trying to frog more as of late. Great vid, as usual man. And those that thumb down your vids can screw off...all you've done is help ppl out with a lot of your vids. Keep the great content coming.
That means a lot to me man. I get that my channel may not be for everyone but you nailed it. I just want to share my experiences and try to help folks along the way! Thanks for the support 👊👊👊
Love your videos, Debo. You are so entertaining and have such a great attitude. Keep on rockin the "Debo dinks!" I ordered two Moss Boss lures based on one of your videos, but haven't thrown them yet. You were killing them on the pond you were fishing, and I look forward to using them soon. 🤗🐟🐟🐟
Thanks for watching 👊 I don't think I've used moss boss lures? Are those frogs? Let me know how you like them.
First video I’ve ever watched from you, absolutely love the content and it’s not all extra edited. Tight lines man !
Appreciate that a lot man. Thanks for checking out my channel👊👊👊
DEBO'S Fishing I had to subscribe, really good content man, keep it up !
@@devinmothersell2384 appreciate you becoming a #verifiedfeeshinfriend 👊👊👊
DEBO THE DINK DOMINATOR....LOVE YOUR VIDS BRO!!! THANK YOU & PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING
Yes video on repairing handle, and awesome video!!
I did get the handle fixed! I stripped the screw that holds the handle on. Changed that out and it seems fo be good now! Thanks for watching!
Lol, when it rains, it pours brother!!
Hang in there Debo!!
I hear ya man. Oh well, makes us appreciate the good days. Thanks for watching man 👊
Great video Debo 👍🏻That was crazy, never had one follow a bait in like that before. I personally wouldn’t mind a vidja on fixing that reel.
It was nuts! I took it apart and the handle wasn't bent. I stripped/broke the screw that holds the handle on. Put a new nut on and she's like new 👍 Thanks for watching man 👊
Great video man. Hahahaha you called the turtle a jerk ..... great
Thanks for watching man 👊👊👊
Dam those turtles! Never seen that before. 57yr. Old newbie here, still trying to get my 1st on a frog, that water is so clear, nice job, thanks for all the tips!
Same with the frog! Texas heat aint no joke
Frog fishing is typically a sunrise or sunset, heavy cover kinda thing. The hardest part is to remember to pause after the strike before setting the hook because of the sudden adrenaline rush of the explosive attack. And if you're still missing them down size.
Awesome! Now is the perfect time to start! Early mornings have been key for the frog bite here. Otherwise, look for really thick pads and moss! Good luck man!
I love those poppin perches
Cant beat morning wood..........that turtle was crazy mate! For sure do a video of you repairing the handle on the Revo. As always cheers fo sharing :-)
Always appreciate you watching man! I took it apart and the handle wasn't bent. I particularly stripped/broke the screw that holds the handle on. Put a new nut on and she's like new 👍 Thanks for watching my friend!
Great video Debo looks like the top water in those waters draws out the bigger fish.
Thanks man! Yeah, it was a fun day of topwater!
Nothin like mornin wood.. lol
I plead the 5th 🤣👊
I feel ya Debo. I lost maybe my biggest this year right at the bank. Line popped with my chatterbait sticking out of his lip. Watched him swim away with it. Oh well, went out the next morning on a search and recover mission 🤣👍🎣
I've never set the hook and broke a frog off. I was pretty upset. Put some 65# on instead of the 50# to be safe! Thanks for watching sir!
Beautiful Bass Debo ! , RIP popping Perch Dang Turtle !
Hahah thank you. Oh well, guess I'll go frog shopping 🤣
@@DEBOSFishing yeah gonna have to lol ! 😎 You gonna get the same popper ? I would the Bass seem to like that one you were using 🐟
I've had several encounters with Snapping Turtles, I was surprised how fast they can move after a lure, most of the time I end up getting my lure bit off, but when I do hook them, I've managed to get them close and get the hook out without injury that draws blood from them, but my lure is mangled and ripped, but it's how I found out I can get more casting distance by trimming the skirts short on the frogs. Man, you caught some real chunks!
I've seen your encounters with turtles! Glad I didn't have to finagle it off of a hook🤣 Thanks for watching man 👊
Those dinosaurs are savages lol good video either way bro
They are cool creatures...I just want them to stay away from my lures 🤣 Thanks for watching man 👊
Where can I get those velcro wraps you use over your rod and lure? I have looked everywhere and cannot find the same thing you have.
Very cool 👍 Thanks
Yeah those snappers are hungry. I had one 3 times your size slowly following my craw jig to shore. Then He hanged out popping up his head every now and then for about 45 mins. He was old his shell was water moss covered. My boy had a the greatest time watching him.
Yikes! I don't want any part of those grumpy turtles hahah thanks for watching man 👊
you bass guys make me laugh.. lol.. get em dude..
Hhah I'm trying man! Thanks for watching 👊👊👊
Nice outing, I've yet to catch on my chappo
Ur vids are awesome
Wow! Crazy! I’d be a little upset too. Those poppin Perch aren’t cheap. I run into a lot of snappers and soft-shells when I’m Catfishing. To be expected when you’re using live/cut panfish.
Awesome video my man!
Yeah, that thing wasn't stopping for anything 🤣 I just hope I didn't break off on a good fish ☹
That turtle was insane!
It did it to me about two weeks ago. Turtles love trying for topwater frogs I've noticed
Wow ive never seen a turtle chase bait like that super cool really some nice bass tho yes love to see how you repair the revo i broke the drag star on my favorite baitcast cant seem to get it off great vid debo
Yeah, those turtles were viscous! I did get it fixed. Just replaced the nut that holds the handle on. I stripped it on that hookset.
Do you use fluorocarbon? If so, how the heck do you cast it. I’m having such a hard time casting it without the line over lapping each other and losing 50 yards. Got any line recommendation?
I’ve definitely lost a few lures to snapping turtles. We catch a lot of them while night fishing for catfish actually. Love your videos, keep up the awesome content !!!!
The dang things are greedy 🤣 Thanks for watching man!
Really cool lake Debo. I hope you hit this in 2021, curious to see if the weeds have returned. Wonder if your turtle is still there!
That was sick.
Like I always said I'm going back to some freshwater fishing next week and will love the glassy waters and no tides or currents to work with, freshwater is so simpler and fun too fish in. Just a bit of a long drive from the ocean where I live for the real freshwater lakes, but will be well worth it next week
Yes sir, a few years ago there was a bunch of alligator snappers in a favorite pond that I fish, and they'd snap through my 50# braid and I'd lose frogs weekly... Finally the farmer had a bunch of us transfer a number of em back to the river across his fence. Sneaky boogers. Good video brother 👍. Oh and nice Chunk for the first catch of the day...fish on.
Thanks man! Yeah, those snappers are no joke! Thaks for watching 👊
@@DEBOSFishing No problem man, love the channel and content... Reel Feeshin in every cast cause we all have more DEBO DINKS than trophy Bass. Keep Kastin' brother and we'll keep Bittin' ...! Tight lines. 👊
Rockin' an awesome summer beard bro! I always like to start the morning off with some wood too :D
Hahahahah thanks man. I got this unruly thing trimmed up finally.
how do you like those bait wraps? i’ve been thinking about getting a few along with some pole socks, especially when I upgrade my rods to $100+ rods. but idk.
i’ve actually had really good luck making a huge disturbance when it’s like glass. I caught one friday afternoon that had to be close to 5lbs on a plopper and the pond was like glass.
I love the lure wraps. Worth every penny I've spent on them! Nice man! I've had good luck with the popping perch this year!
Yes I have & grandpa would always make that snapper turtle a honored guest at our dinner table lol.. I miss you grandpa..
Sweet video brother I've never seen a snapping turtle hit topwater I have caught him on soft plastic before though yeah I like to see a video of you fixing that reel
Yeah, jigs and stuff but topwater??? I did get it fixed up. The handle was fine. I stripped the nut that holds the handle on. She seems to be good as new now!
Absolutely down here in Florida I have turtles, alligators, birds, and anything else you can think of chasing my lures.
I thought turtles were bad! I don't want any part of a gator chasing my lure!
That's funny I bent the handle on my Revo X frog fishin too . Threw the handle off my speed spool on it for now lol
Really! Hmm, wonder if that is a more common problem? Could be the way we set the hook too. Thanks for watching man!
DAMN TURTLES! Dude, saw a HUGE one at one of your regular filming spots here in town! 40# easy, the tail alone on this thing was at least 16" long.
Oh heck no, I'm not messing with hooking one of those!🤣👊
huh, snapping turtle... we have boo-koo flat water turtles, I snagged one once, hooked him by the shell behind his head, dragged him to shore backwards. Boy, was he angry, did not want to come to shore. Nice 3+ pounder though, fun video. 😎 😲snapper! 👍👍👍✌👍
Thanks man, appreciate you watching. Yeah, the turtles can leave me alone for a while after that whole ordeal 🤣👊
Oh man that’s tough! 😂 I used to live in Florida and I’ve lost fish and lures to gators and turtles
Dang! I don't want any part of hooking a gator 😯 Thanks for watching and be safe out there!
I noticed you fish with both left handed and right handed bait casters, which side do you prefer.....and if you can make a video on how to fix the Revo that would be awesome lol same thing happened to me .
That snapping turtle snatched that top water amazing
He was definitely angry 🤣👊
I hooked a snapper on a football jig on the 4th of July. Luckily he shook and the jig came out, next cast I snagged a rock and my line broke.....😩
Yeah, I've had them bite bottom baits like that, never watched one in pursuit like that! The dreaded snags! Thanks for watching man!
Dave Mercer has that clip of him washing his hands off by the dock and a snapper comes swimming out going for his fingers.
WHAT? I don't want any part of that!!!🤯
I have good luck with the Poppin Perch. The clear shad color seems to do really good when it's fairly clear water. People just haven't seemed to care for it but it really is more of a popper than a frog in how you use it.
Yeah, I'm honestly loving the popping perch. I've had a lot of luck with it this year!
did you backlash in this video did break the reel handle
Frog fishing is cool😎🎣👍🏼 Greetings from Germany🇩🇪✌🏻️
It's my absolute favorite! Thanks for watching from across the great pond 👊👊👊
DEBO'S Fishing 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Did you use straight braid for that first fish using that popper?
I have had the a snapper follow in my frog before, it was making a huge wake behind my frog and I thought I was about to get a new PB. Brought it up to the bank and there was a snapper about the same size as that one following. They are aggressive buggers.
What do you think of the ugly Stik carbon baitcaster with abu maxblack reel?
I’ve got two REVO X and I like em, love the grips but the handle nut has backed off on both of them. I’ve always been an abu guy and still like the X but I’ve seen little quirks in it.
any reason in particular for using both left and right handed reels??
Just testing out lefty reels. I've only ever used right. Thanks for watching 👊
Never seen a turtle follow top water in. Plenty of bull frogs do and will jump all over it but 1st I've seen a turtle chase. That's crazy!
The dang frogs! They are also all ridiculous when I have a frog 🤣
About two months ago, I had a snapping turtle blow up on a frog. I thought I had hooked into a hawg at first. I got it reeled in to about 4 feet from my kayak before he came off the hook. It jacked my brand new frog up. Bent the hooks and everything.
Dang! Yeah, that's always a disappointment. They are not kind to lures 🤣
Hey Debo, I am just curious where you live. You seem to have some really nice fishing ponds around you?
I'm in Iowa. Thanks for watching man!
I know it was a snapping turtle but I’m curious as to know when you said you should have checked if you needed to re-tie. What do you look for??
That first big fish I caught was on the wood and I had some resistance reeling it in at first. I'm guessing the line got frayed on that fish. I check my line regularly for nicks and I didn't after that fish. I hope it was a turtle ☹
Awesome catch an a good video. Need to carry the ol 22 shot them dang Turtles lol. Keep them coming. Tight lines
Thanks for watching! I need to carry turtle spray 🤣👊
Man Debo this is the story of my last 2 days. I said I'm going to catch my first frog fish and had a few blowups and panic set the hook and missed them. Went today, first cast, lost the frog! It was my only one too!!! Oh and I beat your dink today, got about a 6 ounce largie! Haha
Can you do a video comparing the Toray 24T vs IM6 vs IM7 within the Kastking line up? Modulus, strain rate, sensitivity, power comparisons in your opinion. Microwave vs Fuji in casting rods.. etc. Thanks and love your vids.
Thanks for watching! I've looked into that and there is not really an industry standard. I'd like to get a guy who builds rods to come on and talk about that!
@@DEBOSFishing thanks for the reply. It's seriously confusing that even within the same company, there isn't a consistent spec sheet to compare between rods. Within Kastking alone, what exactly is the difference between 24T and IM7?? I ended up getting the Royale Legend rod after watching your videos. I can see how this type of video could be hard to do.
could you do videos on what to look for when your fishing for bass out on the water and what type of baits would be best in some situations. i think that would be really helpfull to some of us watching your videos im still learning thanks for always posting great content!
I've got a vid like that coming up! Thanks for watching and supporting my channel 👊
Never had a turtle, but a pond I fished as a kid had some giant bull frogs that would nail anything that got near them.
Losing top water baits is the worst! At least when I snag a crank bait I can’t see the lure underwater where it’s snagged. But when you fish a top water you expect to reel it in and it still being on the line. Maybe with some grass or scum on it but at least you still have it.
Snapping turtles are bizarre creatures. I go to a pond that's got tons of them and it always surprises me that they will literally hit anything at times!! .
How do you like that Ark rod?
I never had a snapper bite my lures, but recently had a loon steal a brook trout out of my hand as I was taking it out of the water! Then the loon kept circling the canoe trying to get the brookies on the stringer. What can I say, we are one with nature.
Big Snapping Turtle I bet! I had to leave that point because it wouldn't leave my baits alone.
Wow I have had trouble with turtles while fishing for catfish but never with artificial lures. That was crazy. That looked like a nice place to put a yak or small flat bottom. It would keep you from fighting through the thick stuff. 👊👍
Yeah, that thing was hungry for some lures 🤣 Thanks for watching man 👊
Oh, man! I yelled “Noooo!!” when you lost your lure. That sucks. On the other hand, nice fishes you caught. I’ll take a Debo Dink over skunk any day, too. Hopefully we can see a repair on the revo. That’s one of my favorite reels too.
Thanks man. Yeah, I just hope it wasn't a huge fish that hit it. I took it apart and the handle wasn't bent. I particularly stripped/broke the screw that holds the handle on. Put a new nut on and she's like new 👍 Thanks for watching man 👊
Turtles where I go fish, Echo Park, in Los Angeles, they don’t usually go after plastics or top water lures but if I’m trying to catch a bluegill, they strike my bread like no one else’s business. I’m glad that reel was repaired. Did you make a video on repairing it? That would be awesome to watch.
Thanks for making all these videos! 👊🏼🎣
What is your opinion on the heddon torpedo???
A turtle yes, not a snapping turtle but yes a little turtle that really thought he was a tough guy. Lol
ive had snapping turtles do that so much up here in idaho its insane and they will just keep coming after a lure tell they get another bite
Yeah, dang things are persistent! Good luck man and steer clear of those dang things!
That JUST happend to me last week. I was with my old man and he had 1 follow his bobber in and I have one follow my frog.
Are those all beds at the shoreline?
Dam what a nice and bad day at the same time bro lol.dam gremlin turtles.
Those turtles are mean and I want no part of them 🤣👊
Kinda off-topic, but have you ever fished Lake Rathbun in Iowa? Headed that way next week.
I have a few times but not for a number of years.
I have never seen a snapping turtle follow anything but a plastic. That is pretty nuts!
Yeah, I was pretty amazed! He was on a mission!
I lost a frog tonight on 65lb braid. Caught my first frog fish then the next bite I got the hook set and lost it. I don’t know if I should’ve retired after the first one but the line looked clean cut and not all squiggly like it does when the knot comes undone
Yeah, I'm a big proponent of retying frequently. But it's hard to say man?
I noticed that your dobyns colt setup was a left hand retrieve bait caster but your revo x reel is a right hand retrieve. Never seen someone switch back and forth. What’s up with that? Usually you’re one or the other on a bait caster and possibly the opposite on a spinning reel. Are you making a transition in your bait casters?
Yeah, I'm just trying the lefty retrieve. I've always used righty but I've switched up to try them. I like the lefty retrieve so far!
So many looses today. When I loose a lure like that one I get grumpy like a week. One question. The hook in the texas rig seems pretty big. Is it 6/0 or 7/0 ?. Good video🎣🎣🎣
That’s weird I’ve got my revo x on a frog rod too and so does my buddy and we’ve never had problems with them I’d throw Abu a email. Cool video
Turtles are always nipping at my lures.
Id like to see a video on the revo x
I'll have a review on that coming up soon man!
Never had a snapping turtle chase one but I've had some alligators chase them and that sucks!! hahaha
Yeah, this thing was on a mission! Oh heck no! I'm not messing with an alligator!
Debo I have a pond very close to my house and I have a few snappers that are always chasing my lures one of them has an almost 2ft long shell he's a big boy for show funny thing is my step daughter loves to feed him when she's done fishing for the day lol
I feel your pain. I have hooked into snappers a few times. At first it's cool like ... "what is this?" . Then it just gets annoying. Plus, they are dangerous to be around. In removing the lure they can remove your finger. Not good. But they can be very aggressive and if possible should be fished around ... not at.
Dang, forgot the old Debo motto, "find the wood...pitch to wood...?be the wood?...do it again?"
That turtle was cool. We don't have snapping turtles in Australia.
A bit of a disappointment on the Revo handle. I would not expect a quality reel to ever just bend like it did
I took it apart and the handle wasn't bent. I particularly stripped/broke the screw that holds the handle on. Put a new nut on and she's like new 👍 Thanks for watching man 👊
Wish i could get out today. Been waiting a week for my racks to come, and now that I can actually transport my kayaks today is way to hot and its gonna storm.
I hear yah man. I plan a trip and RAIN! Hate those days ☹ Good luck when you do get out man!
DEBO'S Fishing Also I thank you for making all these vids. Could I send some pics of my fishing locations and could you help me pick out what baits and color to use?
@@cha7269 you're welcome. I can try to help. Send them on Instagram.
What swim jig were You using?
And what trailer?
Edit
With that super clear water and super slick conditions a fluke or drop shot my worked.
Crazy that snapping turtle would eat a frog that aggressive!
That was a 6th sense swim jig. I had a Chaos-X swimbait on from beast coast. Yeah, those turtles were nuts!
I’ve seen a snapper close to 24inches across and head the size of a softball.
Snappers on my main fishing lake hit top water a lot, never hooked them on anything else. I've caught painted turtles and soft shell turtles on live bait though.
That's crazy! I've caught turtles before but never had one chase and bit my topwater frog like that. Darn savages!
Curious as to why you use left and right hand reels
Just testing the left handed retrieve out. I've only used right handed before. I'm liking them so far!
lol. "eeehh, threeee point zero zero zero twoooo... Yeah about a four pounder!" :P
Lol 3lb 14 oz on that one. Two ounces shy is a four to me. Thanks for watching man 👊
Hey man before I watch the video, Is it better to have only 1 reel, like 7:1 gear ratio, and have 3 different rods? Or is it better to run 3 reels with different gear ratios and 1 rod?
I personally think having 3 rods would be better. You can run a medium, medium heavy, and heavy rods and that will cover all baits you will ever use. For cranks and others that require a low gear ratio, u can just slow your reel in speed to adjust.
Yeah I was thinking that! But what line? You can fish frogs which requires 50-65 pound braid, which can go with the heavy rod. But sometimes jerkbaits are what they are biting on which requires something like 12 pound. What line do you suggest for the one reel?
@@fcyggcghhfhchcychhxhchqdbd3324 i forgot about that hahaha. In that situation, if you could only really have 1 reel, i would do 40lb braid(unless the stuff you frog in is really really thick) and run a leader when you tie on anything besides a frog. Other than that i would suggest one spinning combo for 8 or 10lb line, then the other 2 combos be baitcaster, one frog rod and one everything else. But to answer your question, braid as the main line then tie a leader when fishing anything but frogs
