This song is so unbelievably beautiful that I break out in chills. The tasteful simplicity of it, her soft, cooing vocals, the intoxicating sense of wistfulness... It literally moves me to tears, though I don't fully understand why.
Music has such a mysterious, alchemical power. It has always been and always will be one of the great obsessions of my life.
Thank you for this, Jessica. Thank you so much.
People who have discovered this song are very lucky! And I'm one of them!
This song is a hidden gem ♥️
Everyone should hear this beautiful song
I did not expect such music to be possible nowadays. I am in love.
i listened to this before passing an entrance exam to a university, we took the road, it was 6 in the morning, the sun was rising and i had hopes. i am thankful
Quiet is the new loud
She commands that you listen, and completely forget where your day is at.
@@RVWoodhead81SHU She needs to change her name before doing anything else. 'Pratt', for crying out loud!!
love and squalor why? Her music is something special, doesn’t matter what her name is. If this girl can sing her life into the hearts of anyone who stops to listen, she’s already done better than any fancy stage name can do.
Lyrics:
This time around
Has it gone so gray that my faith can't hold out?
Haven't you heard
There's a somber wind gets my head away now?
Hallowed be thy name, had you come to claim it?
Too hard, too hard, ahh
All upon her face were the lost and strange years
Too hard, too hard, ahh
Ahh, ahh, ahh
I don't wanna try no longer
Your songbird singing the darkest hour of the night
I don't wanna find that I've been in marching
Under the crueler side of the fight
It makes me want to cry
Well, I won't tell, the halfway blues hang on
Sure enough a sorry angel
Hurrying a song on her way
This time around
Has it gone so gray that my faith can't hold out?
Haven't you heard
There's a somber wind gets my head away now?
Hallowed be thy name, had you come to claim it?
Too hard, too hard, ahh
All upon her face were the lost and strange years
Too hard, too hard, ahh
Ahh, ahh, ahh
I don't wanna try no longer
Your songbird singing the darkest hour of the night
I don't wanna find that I've been in marching
Under the crueler side of the fight
It makes me want to cry
Well, I won't tell, the halfway blues hang on
Sure enough a sorry angel
Hurrying a song on her way
God this is special. This is as personal as it can be. Therapy for the soul. 10/10
I don't really know how to describe what I feel when I listen to this song, but I absolutely love it. It's so unique and sort of makes me think about my life and just reminisce, specifically about summer for whatever reason.
As a nihilist...listening to this song shakes my belief. Is this magic? Hope? I'm so confused, but happy at the same time.
The World/Universe is STRANGER than you CAN imagine...
I'll repeat...
STRANGER THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE...
Nihilism is just silly, sorry to place a judgment on it, but, cheer up, and grow up. I say this with loving kindness and compassion.
Try just a little bit of Gratitude. You would be surprised, if you would only try❤
I don't know if this makes sense, but I want this song played at my funeral
This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard
Her vocal melodies paired with her lyrics are so amazing.
This song makes me miss lovers I never had...
I think about one of my exes when I hear this song, we just stopped talking, lost touch, I still think about her, I hope she's ok, I'm sure she thinks about me, we just were not meant to be, I'll never forget the memories
I own all of her records and am patiently waiting for the new project. I love me some Jessica Pratt
"Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything". PLATON... merci
Such a beautiful voice, it lets me forget my surroundings and get lost in euphoria
So sublime & perfect - the combination of the visual & the tunes. Especially the sunlight behind trees. Otherworldly, deep, warm, lovely ... So good it makes me cry. Pure art.
Truly connected to something else... or somewhere else...
This song in simplistic in structure and ridiculously gorgeous in execution. Haunting in near perfection. Peace.
Perfect choice 😫💗
About time - Miles Carter
So. . . ethereal.
With just some sparse instrumentation and her unique voice, Jessica Pratt can create songs that soundtrack big parts of my life. 😍
Was listening to Miles Carter “About time” when I heard this phenomenal song❤
I am in love with the music of this artist, a real discovery, so original, so poetic.
Beautiful Song, voice and lady.
I'd virtually forgotten that this kind of music was possible. Hauntingly beautiful. The album Quiet Signs is fabulous too.
I can’t believe I saw you perform this song last night at the Brooklyn Steel front row! You have always been such a soundtrack to my life in this decade. Thank you for that.
these vocal melodies are heavenly. incredible songwriting.
I want to strive to be a better person
sometimes i wonder what jessica would sound like if she expanded her instrumentation and made something a little more 'grand', but then i hear songs like this and i'm convinced that she can keep doing what she's doing. i mean, she's got a pretty strong songwriting, she always comes up with these beautiful melodies and honestly that's more than enough. she's very good at creating these intimate, nostalgic moments, and in order to do this you really don't need anything more than a guitar, a voice, and a great sensibility. great track as always jessica, i've been waiting for this album for so long and i'm so happy that it's finally coming
i feel the same. what she has created is so unique and perfect to me. i really hope her sound doesn't ever stray to far from this. of course i want her to experiment and and grow musically and ultimately what i want doesn't matter at all but its just so perfect. on yr own love again is one of my most listened to recs of all time. so very happy shes back at it. its how i felt when i first heard angel olsens first ep when it came out, strange cacti. her newer stuff is terrific as well but strange cacti was so other wordly and insular like pratts music is.
Nick Drake was great at this also. Her sensibility reminds me of his a bit.
She's so amazing and can't wait for the new album! The way she says "angel" heals my soul.
Here bc someone posted in some social media platform to find her bc good music is still alive... I came, I heard... faith restored👌✨
So happy that a new album is coming. Her last album is such a precious record.
Just one of the most beautiful songs I’ve heard. It feels haunting and comforting at the same time
prismatic sound. mystical voice.
music of the good and gorgeous kind.
Something esoteric about Jessica's music, amazing album.
Your not from this world and its a very good thing. Your music is an escape from violent time.
Lucas Cranach, your name made me notice how well this song goes with German renaissance paintings... eery!
she brings me sm solace and emotion... i cannot listen to this record without crying as many times as i have listened to it... that's impressive. I'm eternally jealous.
Hauntingly beautiful, makes me feel something.
my goddess of harmony returns!!!
beautiful singing ❤️ for some reason it reminds me of broadcast and that's always a good thing.
so glad to see that my favorite musician, Thom Yorke also loves your song!
I noticed the other two albums few years ago and just loved it immediately
have been listening to Quiet Signs for weeks, truly beautiful
The instrumental reminds me of the bittersweet-sentimental soundtrack of the film ‘Strangers: The Story of a Mother and Daughter’ (1979) starring Bette Davis and Gena Rowlands
Just discovered her music today. I want everything she’s done in my music library.
From the first time I heard her voice I was mesmerized and lost in beautiful way.
best music ever
I would love to see her perform live, in Phiadelphia. There are so many intimate performance spaces here.
Jessica Pratt hits an emotional sweet spot for me
This song make me fly
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This year I bought all her records, they are beautiful and have a capacity to relax my mind like nothing else. My favorite is Quiet signs, in my opinion it contains three songs that are true masterpieces: Crossing, Airplane and This time aorund, they have the ability to take me far away.
JP you have no idea how many hard times you have gotten me through this year , I am absolutely living for you new album to come out. Thank you
Her music is the sound track to an art film about lovers. So very beautiful, so sublime.
Cudowne, pierwszy raz przesłuchane , wraz z rozwijającą się muzyką obserwowałam wschód słońca.Doskonałe rozpoczęcie dnia
This song Irresistibly haunts my soul.
totally ethereal. i'm dead
Listening to good music while forced inside !! Take care people !!

My god. How beautiful can a song be?❤️

Thanks Jessica. Thank you. I honestly don't think I've been more affected by anything. More than with your music.

Your songs flow like waves. This is stunning🖤 I love you
This tune reminds me of Venice...it's beautifully timeless...quiet is definitely the new loud. Thanks for this. xxx
swept away by this truly incredible song
Folk Genius💖
The first time I listened to the song, I couldn't make out a single phrase except, "It makes me want to cry." And I did. Beautiful.
I don't wanna find that I've been marching under the crueler side of the fight
It makes me want to cry
-every American
she's so deep and talented in what does. my main discovery of the last time! grateful.
her voice touchts your soul
She's great! She reminds me of the ethereal singer songwriter, goddess Angel Olsen, and songs like creator destroyer.
Thank god for 6 music
Found this beautiful piece through Caroline Polachek's playlist. I've no urge to pause it on loop..
Omg I can’t listen to this without crying
Magical.
I found this today placing at a Ross dress for less store and I’m so happy I Shazam it. It’s probably one of my favorite songs now!!!
a startling sound...such a wonderful distillation of influences----loved the mellotron!
me hiciste llorar otra vez jessica. thank u for ur music, come to southamerica soon, girl 💗.
I'm so excited to hear new Jessica Pratt music! 😍
i love her soooo much
the most beautiful song I've ever heard, bless U!
2023 Brasil, Lindo trabalho ❤
Flawless.
Honestly, I didnt know her music since three days ago. And now it's love. Is just like walking in a road full of traffic and people that doesn't care anything about, then open a small door on the walkside and entering in a silent, quiet garden hidden in the middle of buildings.
If you like this.. "strange melody", and "Ive got a feeling" and "Aeroplane" are my 3 favorite songs of hers.. on repeat constantly
This is exactly how i felt when I discovered her. In traffic, teary eyed, time just froze for a moment
Beautiful song. Can’t wait for the album, and looking forward to seeing you play in Chicago!
This BEAUTIFUL....
The lyrics are more surrealistic than the painting
So wonderful to hear new material from you Jessica, both the song and the video are utterly gorgeous, can't wait for the album.
I just heard this song on FIP, a french radio! Thanks shazam for identifying the song, I love it!
Bravo! ♡ this simple guitar and brilliant singing and lyrics.
Just love this so much. Wouldn't change a thing.
