    Great idea about the pins in the bar stock. I want to do the same to mine and I was going to weld them in solid. I like the thought of making them removable for different situations 👍

    Thanks for sharing Paul.
    Getting ready to do same project to my 20ft trailer with 2x5 ramps and going to copy your pattern.
    Thanks! Kentucky

    I’ve got the exact same setup as you had, what a P.I.T.A. sliding the ramps out. Thanks for the info!

    Thanks for offering a solution to my problem with your trailer ramp hinge design.

    Good job. Just suggestion, instead of just chain to hold the ramps upright, use turn buckles with the chain. Pulls the ramps up tight to your stop brackets. No banging and rattling on the road.

    Have you thought of cutting the edge of the clevis you welded to the trailer at an angle in order to bring your hinge point up slightly higher than the trailer deck - by doing this, the ramps can hinge down flat onto the bed of the trailer. Just an idea...

    What are those pieces called that you are willing to the back of the trailer to hinge off

    The hole in clevis mounts are .95 inch. The steel rod I got is 1.0 inch. Still trying to work it out.

      There are 1" drill bits on amazon for around $17 with a 1/2" shank. Maybe that would help. Thanks for watching.

      I used a Dremel tool to hone out the hole. Slides in nice now.

    Isn't that 1 inch over rated for the 1/4 angle iron your welding too.
    Seems that the angle iron won't hold to the amount of weight your putting on it.
    Great design tho,doing a great job.

    • @ProjectsWithPaul
      @ProjectsWithPaul  Před 2 lety +1

      The angle holds just fine. I used the 1" because it adds more surface area for the pin to ride on and I think it looks good. Thanks for watching.
