Emma really is a great young singer. And here you see it: she has more in her repertoire than only "Voilà". She is capable to so much more than just that one song (which is utterly beautiful). For me also great is the fact that "Emma sounds as Emma": no tricks in trying to be someone else. She has a wonderful voice of her own and that is what she uses. And I think she is not afraid of learning from André Rieu and his team: when you hear "Voilà" from a year ago and you hear it now there is a big difference. He has said that Emma will sing a new song when the concerts in Maastricht are starting from next week on (yes, a year has past since she became a sensation on-line...). He didn't tell which song it will be, so that remains a surprise, which is good. As far as I am concerned: also a big shout out to this man and his team to make it possible for Emma to live her dream this entire year, despite her health limitations. Her mother is always nearby (she is also on tour as well) as Emma needs some extra care and attention due to her illness. When Emma was turning 16 she was in Athens, Greece, and André Rieu had invited Emma's family and her friends to visit her, to make it a special event for Emma. I guess she will never ever forget that 16th birthday.... After she 'had done her thing' in the concert the x-1000 (I don't know how many there were) audience was singing for her: first in English and after that in Greece. I know this all has nothing to do with music, but I like to share what a special human being André Rieu is behind the scenes. He is not only the famous violin player/conductor, but so much more.

There were 13000 in Athens ❤
If the rumours are true, the new song coukd be ‘I Vow To Thee My Country.’ Will be exciting to see.
Did you see her sing the Dutch National Anthem on Sunday at the MotoGP in Assen. 110 thousand in the crowd and 400 million watching worldwide on tv. Awesome

Great reaction to a great and heartfelt performance of Emma Kok. I think this performance is beautiful beyond comparison❤❤. I'm listening to this song and the other two( You raise me up and Hero) with the same orchestra every day, for two weeks now.

  • @JohannaCatharinavandenBlink

Thank you for your reaction, also beautiful to listen is You raise me up, thank you

Thanks for your reaction to a powerful Emma Kok performance. On your question on the orchestra, simplifying it a little, it is the Dutch Royal Military Band. [Note: Emma will be with them to sing the Dutch National Anthem next Sunday (30th June 2024) ahead of the MotoGP race at Assen NL. So will be live on TNT Sports tv in the UK)]
Emma has supported since 2022 a series of commemorative, liberation, freedom, concerts including youth education on the consequences of war.
Father' was sung in The Hague at a memorial concert on 8th May 2024. Its powerful and emotional as we just saw
Emma sang other songs in this years series including:
'When You Believe' (A Whitney Houston / Mariah Carey cover) sung at the Freedom Concert in Amsterdam 5th May 2024; Emma is 16 here singing with April Darby. This was performed with the King and Queen of the Netherlands and Prime Minister and other dignitaries in the audience.

'You Raise Me Up' Another song in the series of performances around, education, liberation, commemoration and freedom that Emma has supported for the last 2 years. This performed at a church in Rhenen near the memorial site of the WWII Battle of Grebbeberg where approximately 800 lives were lost over 3 days in May 1940.

This is the Royal Military Chapel Johan Willem Friso ......Johan Willem Friso (Dessau, August 4, 1687 - Strijensas, July 14, 1711) was prince of Nassau-Dietz (1696-1711, from 1702 Nassau-Oranje), prince of Orange (1702-1711 ) and stadtholder of Friesland (1696-1711) and Groningen (1696-1711). with Emma kok during the commemoration of the battle in The Hague W.O. 2 she sings here Father who has not returned from the battlefield. She also sang this last year in September on the commemoration day at the Military Cemetery of 8,000 American soldiers in Margraten, the south of the Netherlands.

This performance by Emma of Demi Lovato's 'Father' was just one of a number of performances she gave in early May in commemoration of Liberation Day in the Netherlands. She performed this song last year at the US Military Cemetery in Margraten to honor the 8000 US soldiers buried there who gave their lives in the liberation of the Netherlands from German occupation in WWII. She has changed things around a bit in this version, but it retains the power and emotional impact of her earlier performance.
What can you say about this extraordinary and insanely talented young artist? She is only 16 years old and already a top-tier vocal artist and performer. More than that, she is a kind, humble and respectful young woman whose only ambition in life is to sing and make people happy.
Thank you for reacting to this performance by Emma. Well done. All the best.

FYI. Dit was in Den Haag bij de herdenking van de "Slag om de Residentie" op 08 mei (Theater Amare in Den Haag).

@@Herka5420 Thank you for the information. Is the Battle of the Residence the same as the Battle of the Hague? I am fairly knowledgeable about WWII, but have never really paid much attention to the German invasion of the Netherlands. Most history books don't give much time to that campaign, and one gets the impression that the Dutch instantly capitulated without a fight. I know that is not true. The Dutch Army inflicted heavy losses on the Germans in a number of counter-attacks, especially in the region around The Hague, before being overwhelmed by superior numbers.
