Your drop tests are so inaccurate firstly if you are gonna test cases make sure you use the same size phone to get a fair test secondly apply ALL the parts the company give you, yes even the little carbon fibre sticker and lastly drop them from the same fucking height. you dropped the larger phone at a much higher height than the phone with the titanium casing

From an engineers viewpoint the case rubber case which falls off during impact is better. Because it is a softer material it absorbs more of the fall, thus protecting the phone. Because it falls of most of the kinetic energy is converted back to kinetic energy, and not absorbed by the phone. If the phone has to absorb the energy it will create mechanical stress in its structure and most likely break, or weaken. From the outside it might look good, but you never did switched them back on after the drops, so they might not work. The Plus being bigger and heavier means it's also more prone to damage, therefore it still being intact speaks very highly of the 8$ case.
Undesirable loss of capability is a prime example as to why you may spend so much on a case (although not in this instance because its look is clearly a selling point over functional). My old job the case was more than the device because availability of the device had the potential to affect operations and thus capability. These cases were tested to actual standards prior to roll out not a random guy dropping. On a more individual level, if you have the cash, why would you wish to go though the effort of procuring a replacement and configuring? It is a hassle you don't need and if you are rich enough, the other cheaper very tough cases don't look as nice. Even rich people need smartphones

Rice Cake its still very light and Titanium is 30% stronger than steel (not stainless steel but stainless steel would be way to heavy to carry around as a case). Much stronger than aluminium to. Its a beautiful metal and it has the best weight:strength ratio and is used for military aircrafts as an example

From an engineers viewpoint the case rubber case which falls off during impact is better.
Because it is a softer material it absorbs more of the fall, thus protecting the phone.
Because it falls of most of the kinetic energy is converted back to kinetic energy, and not absorbed by the phone.
If the phone has to absorb the energy it will create mechanical stress in its structure and most likely break, or weaken. From the outside it might look good, but you never did switched them back on after the drops, so they might not work.
The Plus being bigger and heavier means it's also more prone to damage, therefore it still being intact speaks very highly of the 8$ case.
The $8 case actually looks more more better than the $1000 one. Who agrees?

Undesirable loss of capability is a prime example as to why you may spend so much on a case (although not in this instance because its look is clearly a selling point over functional). My old job the case was more than the device because availability of the device had the potential to affect operations and thus capability. These cases were tested to actual standards prior to roll out not a random guy dropping.
On a more individual level, if you have the cash, why would you wish to go though the effort of procuring a replacement and configuring? It is a hassle you don't need and if you are rich enough, the other cheaper very tough cases don't look as nice. Even rich people need smartphones

+Jage A its not as light as aluminium, and weaker than stainless steel.
Rice Cake its still very light and Titanium is 30% stronger than steel (not stainless steel but stainless steel would be way to heavy to carry around as a case). Much stronger than aluminium to. Its a beautiful metal and it has the best weight:strength ratio and is used for military aircrafts as an example
+Mike yea I know, I collect knives and I have a lot of titanium knives where the frame is constructed of titanium because it's anti rust and also very light. But they don't use it on blades as it's very soft compared to high quality stainless, but yes it is stronger than normal steel
