Amagi was an Unryū-class aircraft carrier built for the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II. The ship capsized in July 1945 after being hit multiple times during airstrikes by American carrier aircraft while moored at Kure Naval Base. Amagi was refloated in 1946 and scrapped later that year.

あの失敗を修復できる技術とメンタル尊敬します
途中の失敗で気泡できたが自分的には沈む的な瞬間的な感じで好き
あの撃沈された天城は まさに日本海軍壊滅のシンボルで見るに忍びないけど、 主さんの日本軍艦艇への愛を感じました👍
ちゃんと修復出来ているあたり流石としか言いようがない。

I agree, this is great, too many model makers literally only show perfection, I feel like this give me hope of screwing up and it being ok.

失敗談はよくあるけどリカバリーまで見せてくれるのは珍しい
今までの作品もすごいが、今回の作品が個人的に一番すごいと思う。
マスキングといい船底部分といい、綺麗な曲線作るのがうますぎる。
浅瀬で大破着底した天城を引き揚げるサルベージが実は大変だった。
大型の作業船が近寄れず、やっとの事で巻き上げ機を設置や、浮力タンクや重りタンクは、先に解体した船体を利用したり、『世紀の大事業』と言われた。
こうして引き上げられた天城は呉のドックへいれられて解体された。
船底の一部は解体困難だったため、北海道函館の造船所の浮き桟橋として利用された。
自分は呉の人間なので天城の写真や映像は何度か見ましたが、まさに「矢尽き刀折れ…」な状態を再現していると感じます。 合掌

空襲で沈没着底した・・日本海軍の建造途中の天城のジオラマに感動しました。
かつては・・活躍するはずであった・・誇り高き日本海軍の無残な空母の末路・・戦争に敗れた哀れな戦後の一場面を再現して後世に伝えたいと思う作品だと思います。
勇ましい軍艦の航行する姿などをジオラマプラモデルで再現する中・・、その反対にバトルダメージで戦争の恐ろしさをリアルに伝えたいところに凄く感動しました。
この度の動画をご参考に、私もチャレンジしたいと思います。ジオラマのテーマ・・そして・・その製作技術・・凄いです。動画アップ・・本当にありがとうございます。

As a fellow (significantly less experienced) modeler, I understand the absolute misery and general feeling of defeat upon finding your model ruined, especially after spending so much time assembling and painstakingly painting/weathering the model. I admire and respect your resolve to repair and finish the diorama nonetheless, resulting in a great work of art despite the mistake.

Note: this is not the 1920s battlecruiser Amagi, whose sister ship Akagi was turned into an aircraft carrier. This is the second ship of the Unryū class carriers of the 1940s.
Why the unfinished Amagi is so popular tho? Kinda weird imo

It turned out beautifully, the warping through heat of the prop shafts etc are of no real consequence, looking through a surface like this naturally distorts objects, It was fantastic that you showed your error, and just as fantastic how you rescued the diorama from the effects of it. I'd have gone bezerk and threw the whole thing against the wall, you'd have heard my swearing from the moon! . Well done, and thank you.

One thing I have learned from watching Nick Zammetti's and Ben Worx's CZcams videos is that resin get hot as it cures. This dioram is amazing.
Even before all of the repair work i thought it still looked amazing but the fact you actually spend the time too turn this from a screw up that anyone could of made into something absolutely breath taking is just wow.. thank you seeing this has actually given me inspiration too continue my 1/700 scale naval dock yard (it will have ships from Japan America Britain Germany ect in it )
The fact that you were able to save the diorama is very impressive. It looks amazing.

裂けた艦尾もリアルで迫力を感じました！
小学生の頃、通学路に模型店があってショーウィンドウにほぼ90度の角度にねじ曲がったかなり大きな戦艦のプラモデルが展示してあって子ども心にその迫力に圧倒された記憶があります。
実のところ、西日の高温に耐えられなかった結果のようでした。

The detail and work you put in on the paint job makes it one of the best and most impressive i've seen!! I felt so bad for you when it first failed but you still made an awesome diorama and piece of art out of it!!!
I used to build these when i was a little child. I had all the paints and had ships, planes and vehicles everywhere.
In a way, the distorting from the heat actually produced something beautiful

This music reminds me of the music for old vintage NFL Films. The planes are packed in tight. I'm always amazed at how the planes maneuver on the flight deck to avoid collisions.

記録映像では想像出来ませんでしたが、結構本格的に沈んでいたのですね。
修復したことにより海中が見えなくなったけど、実際呉の海中ってはっきり見えんし、青緑がかった海やから見えたら逆に不自然やから、これの方がリアルやと思いますよ！👍
偶然に拝聴させて頂きました。
造形への忍耐、アイディアに感服しました。
３０分越えの再生でも、まったく苦になりませんでした。

着艦標識をマスキングで再現するのはすごいですね。 白線も完璧です。コレはすごいと思った。
All that hard work and then disaster. But taking hard knocks is a good way of learning. I may have been tempted to throw it away and try again.
Man, this was an emotional rollercoaster - from making the actual ship as it should be (yay! Cool camo!) to starting sculpting the hull when the ship was done (wtf? For real?), fixing that (oh, nice), to modelling the battle damage (really? NOW?), adding those nice little pipe details (damn, to think of that...) and then... the pour, and I saw the mistake from miles away. But to manage to salvage that was pretty damn inspiring. Personally, I would have broken down in tears had that happened to me..

I never knew white was such a powerful colour for weathering.
This looks far more realistic with the mistake. I really like how it turned out.

I actually thought the bad pour made the whole thing look Amazing, The damage to the hull from the heat looked like it was real, The whole thing came out Great !!! we all lucked out LoL !!! Glad you stuck with it !!
Props for not giving up on it! I suspect you needed to overcome some grief and disappointment first, but you pulled through nonetheless.

I'm not experienced with resin, but I have seen people use a vacuum to prevent bubbles during curing.

どうなることかと思いましたが、すごく良くできていると思います。因みに、当時の天城ですが、調べて知っているとは思いますが、燃料も搭載機もなく係留されていたわけですが、一応擬装を施していました。軍としては一生懸命に頑張ったつもりでしたが
、米軍の事前偵察(Ｂ-２９)ではもうバレバレでした。一応陸地の一部に見えるようにしてあったそうです。甲板上に小屋や道、木なんかも付けていました。(近くにいた葛城も同様の擬装をしています)次は伊勢かな？難易度高そう。

Beautifully done and honestly I like how it turned out because of the “mistake”. It always bothers me to see dioramas like this with completely clear water beneath the surface since you don’t get that in real life. This looks much more realistic in my opinion and I a amazed by the amount of effort you put in.
When I was a kid we did that a lot. Mostly with M80s and gasoline or kerosene.

the bubbles are actually cool in my opinion it's like air is still escaping the ship + bubbles around due to ship's slam on the bottom

Hello!! I am simply amazed to say the least, with this video and all it shows: the top quality in everything from the subject, to the music. Passing by all its historic accuracy, and detail making, down to every single centimeter. I am a fan of niponic modelling as well as japanese builders. Unfortunately I am in a country where the japanese models I most want can never reach here. I am in Portugal a country that shares with Japan beautifull parts of our History, despite the distance!!! Wish to see more from you and I wish you just the best to you and your country.

You didn't read the directions on the epoxy carefully, did you? I've done that too. But Bravo for pulling a rabbit out of your hat in rescuing the diorama! It came out really well.
