Back in the days of Myspace, I sent Aries a message and told him that I was a huge fan. To my total surprise, he messaged back and was a total gentleman. We chatted for a little while. His kindness and sincerity really stuck with me.

@Romanes eunt domus Sure, but when i think about the older cast and what i remember most, its mostly those three i listed. They had amazing chemistry together. Anything with Debra and Aries, or Will and Aries was guaranteed to drop me with laughter. _Especially_ Will and Aries together. They played off each other perfectly.

Aries Spears always under-rated, criminally, funnier and earlier than Jay Pharoah who has gotten more notoriety doing some of the same impressions.
elchasai eh, they are both great at impressions. I do wish that Aries got more notoriety for his skills though.
I don't think that's a good comparison, to me that's like comparing Will Sasso and Frank Caliendo. They're all impressionists and each has their own style, they're all good in their own way. Just because someone is newer and out there more (not to mention, Jay was on SNL, for most people that's a instant career boost and Aries was on MADtv which has always been underrated) doesn't make them less talented. If the roles were reversed, and their career paths switched, I feel like people would be saying the same thing for Jay, simply because they're both black impressionists from sketch shows. They're both good.
@@Jaheartsjonas well the reason I mentioned them in the same comment is because they do some of the exact same impressions. Between Sasso and Caliendo, it is very clear to me that Caliendo is far superior at impressions. Yes the SNL to Madtv comparison, Madtv is always underrated and I wouldnt say thats completely without merit but when it comes to individual comics/comedic actors it isnt merited. In my opinion Aries sort of blazed a path that Pharoah followed and Aries was in the round funnier overall at skit plays, character profiles, actual stand up, improv and impressions. Thats just my opinion no one has to agree with me. But, I do think Spears was very underrated in general, he was a backbone player on Madtv for years, Jay Pharoah was only utilized sparingly and for his small rotation of impressions mostly.
Jay's a really god-dang great impressionist..but, that's about it.
Aries may not be as good an impressionist as Jay..but, he's got a lot more stuff in his funny arsenal. his stand-up is just...TOO FUNNY..and more than just doing impressions...WAY more. overall, Aries's the BETTER comedian.
If Aries was on SNL instead of MadTV his career would’ve been so much different. Sucks.
