KEVSTER: the BEST of the West (Pro Genji/Tracer Analysis)

- Kevster has long been regarded as the best DPS in the EMEA/NA region, and there's no surprise after studying his masterclass on Tracer & Genji. Recently competing (and winning, of course) in the EMEA Flash OPs tournament, Kevster put on a clinic of mechanics, game sense, and... patience, surprisingly. Whether you're Grandmaster or Bronze, there's lots to learn!

Patrick Bateman : Impressive. Very nice.
David Van Patten : Hmm.
Patrick Bateman : Let's see Kevster's Reaper.
LOL
this is one of the best youtube comments i’ve seen ever
Backbone clearly gaps Kev on Reaper or even Shax

Can we talk about the trigger discipline at 37:35? He knows the Ana isn't looking at him and he can take his time, so he tracks the Ana on the jump arc, stops shooting when she lands to see where she moves to before continuing to shoot to get out the most damage without reloading.
This is just incredible. The movement, taking no unnecessary dmg, the pulses, 1 clips just makes my eyes water from happiness.
unnecessary*
Love the analysis. Pathiphan also said the same things about Kevster's play style. That Kevster is super self sufficient making other Dps and Tank have more resource.
An intangible that would make him so good in any team
i’ll always maintain that in season 5 proper was a better 1v9 tracer but kevster was more resource efficient
basically like season 1 striker vs sbb
@@DEVILONBOTHSHOULDERS kevster was the out n out best tracer in 2021 and 2022
@@chobanimoncher407 leave was better in 2021. especially on aggregate
what i mean with proper vs kevster is that kevster operates better than proper when both aren’t given all the resources but when they’re both given the privilege and responsibility to solo carry i think proper fits that role better
it’s hard to convey verbally
@@DEVILONBOTHSHOULDERS i understand your point with proper more now, i cant say i agree or disagree but it is a fair point. as for 2021, i dont think 1 single owl player will agree with you regarding leaves tracer - kevster was simply better that year. not saying leave wasnt better at other heroes, he was the best player flexing that season and debatably deserved mvp although on tracer alone kev was objectively better
Seeing him play like a god on tracer remembers me of the good old OWL, and to see the dive comp actually played properly is such a joy to watch.
This was really nice, watched the whole thing and it was definitely worth it.
What a VOD review, maybe the best Tracer guide. GOAT playing & GOAT analysing......I can feel myself ranking up on my one trick stupid Tracer just by watching this VOD.
Please breakdown more Kev VODs so us Plat Tracers can rank up!!!
24:14 that's a certified jay3 pulse right there
Thanks for covering pro footage, one of the silver linings of OWL ending is more chances to see pro POV replays and pros stream. I hope competitive OW persists and you can comfortably provide to this community.
For me, this is probably the most eye-opening OW guide/review/coaching video I've ever seen. I watched this, took some notes, tried to incorporate your info in a few qp games, and when I went into comp saw a massive improvement in my gameplay. Thanks Spilo :)
What kinda noted did you make? I would like to try too :)
@@salvatore8500 Here's a few of my takeaways, but there may be a lot more, this is just what I noticed from the video:
- treat everything as a resource, including high ground and other positional advantages, and abilities
- be super careful and patient, but be fast to capitalize on mistakes
- don't focus on arbitrary goals like getting elims, instead try to enable/work according to your team
- constantly be thinking to setup, whether before, after or even during a fight
- when playing tracer, wait to see where your team is going to go, then flank relative to them (i.e. off-angle). if your team follows you, rotate positions (rotation confuses enemies anyways)
Hope this helps :)
@@P-39_Airacobra thank you brother i appreciate it!
Thank you, for years I've been searching for vods for my collection.
I recently decided that I wanted to start collecting fdps vods. I really want the rare expensive ones like "KEVSTER VOD". I have seen these ranging from 1 Million channel points to about 150k on twitch, but I heard these can be sold for very cheap on the black market.
180 blade is a major key. The entire point of the character further appeared in my eyes clear as day watching that happen.
Is there a place where VODs like these are posted? Because I would love to also study the other povs
finally, some respect for my goat
Does anyone know why Kevsters account is called Proper?
Proper also has an account called Kevster. I don’t exactly know why but I assume it’s like a mutual respect thing, they were the top 2 dps in the league in 2022 and competed against each other tons
They might be friends also idk
@@galaxyrend yeah friends or a mutual respect at the least and was down for some tomfoolery. @l.r8926 both players played with the opposite player's name the entire tournament
Proper and Kevster where messaging each other during 2022 and Kevster wanted a new account name for his alt or something and Proper suggested he called it Proper and he would call his next alt Kevster
@@zachariahmarkusson7479
so he played flash ops in his alt? I think they both just bought a battletag change because Proper has bunch of SF Shock skins on the "Kevster" account
I enjoy this guy
thats my goat
1:00:45 “what’s the difference between dps and tank? Tank has more hp” THANK YOU
Reminds me a lot of the equally annoying “tanks are supposed to create space” uh, yeah, *everyone* is supposed to create space. OW is a game of space, it has a spatial objective that you commit resources toward winning, regardless of role.
When i was a kid a had the exact same haircut as kevster. My dad use to call it "the curtains".
at 7:20 he is annoying bap and mei. You think he wasted blink by peaking wide instead of just strafing to peak the corner. You also mention you have to be careful when you strafe peak to avoid damage. That makes perfect sense to me (especially against projectile dps like mei). But when he is hiding behind the bot he can't see where the mei is looking and when he does blink out to peak mei is looking at him. If I were him couldn't see where the mei was looking, peaked out to see the mei looking at me I would think I made the right call by using blink to make my location unpredictable. Is there something I'm missing or were you maybe saying to do a quick shoulder peak?
What is the app u used to write on the video ?
epic pen
Oh perfect, now I don't need to watch the twitch vod
Assuming Seeker is next
🧐
is this a reupload? I swear I watched this before
@Spilo do you got the replay code for us?
Sadly, no- it's expired
I swear I've seen like 5 different pros at this point that said Kevster has the best movement in the world
yw for the codes pookie
LOL
i am the supplier

What does it mean by 3, 2 1ing at 1:31?
A count down to coordinate the team think of it as a ready set go at the start of a race
I believe it means to execute a coordinated attack with your team via a countdown (ie. we’re gonna rush the ana, 3 2 1 gogogo!). Using 321ing as a verb sometimes literally means the action of counting down to an action but is generally just used to refer a coordinated action with a team :)
Comm to time pressure- Everyone goes in at the same time, spilo explains it as synchronized pressure, hopefully at the same time 5:02
3-2 this was referring to the Kiriko/Sojourn pocketing the Sojourn on an off-angle while the Mei/Ram/Bap play as a unit of 3 on main/objective. The reasoning is that the Kiriko/Sojourn try to hold an off angle to deny the dive from taking the entire map. Could also be good to do a 2-2-1 where the Mei splits on a solo off angle to also control space (she has her iceblock/wall/250 HP for sustain). More of an advanced concept!
@@StormcrowProductions So, it is like soccer tactics? For example 4-3-3 / 4-4-2 / 5-2-3-1??
what is 321ing
But why the recall
15:15
why was his name proper in the game?
was thinking the same thing
Proper and Kevster are friends. They both have alts named after each other.
Dont forget hes Swedish
