Mr. Neal Doughty taught me how to play the piano! We lived on Canbridge Drive in Belleville,Illinois. He lived @ #8 Cambridge Drive & i lived @ #23 Cambridge Drive. I was 12 yrs. old! I'm now 67 yrs. old. Congrats on your 50th Anniversary! I'm going to Ride This Storm Out! Time For Me To Fly! Rok N' Roll Forever...Be Blessed! Be Safe!
A local Peoria band EARGAZM purchased REOS truck when they relocated,we found guitar picks in the sleeper cab for a long time after using in the mid -late 70S,they were Gary's
chuckHart70 No hard feelings for Dave. He can play, not the way Gary did. Problem a lot of people have is what Cronin did to Gary Richrath. I presume that may show as dislike for Dave, it's just because he's there and Gary is not. Cronin was going out on his own when things were tough in "89. Gary had a replacement for him, Michael Jahnz who is currently lead vocalist in Richrath Project 3:13. Came back because contract for 'Strolling Dudes" fell through. He wanted control again, no big surprise there, and did not support his "rock n roll" brother, his words, when he needed rehabilitation. Control again. Gary did much work to get that band off the ground way back, and as far as concerts, I would say Gary made most of those shows worth the price of admission. He just owned the stage. It was something natural for him, the way people took to him. Not to mention those searing solos and wall of sound he brought and played with emotion and energy so the crowds felt that. He said that was what he played for. *PEACE* R&R D&G
@@kaylarivers4377 nope. When you miss rehearsals and shows and get too drunk to play, you lose your job. Plain and simple. But yes we all loved Gary when he was on his game.
And Gary can't play the way Dave plays. Gary had his limits as well everyone does the point is Gary had problems yes Kevin's a dick we know that but Gary f-ed himself. Dave had nothing to do with it and actually always complimented Gary in interviews.
I have to admit I am a huge Gary Richrath fan and probably not very fair to Dave who is a good guitarist. I know though if it werent for Dave there may not be a REO still going.
True,,To me REO with out Gary is like Aerosmith with out Perry but they some how over came that problem and were able to continue on. I worked a show as a union stagehand at the Keep On rocking tour a few years back that included 38 special, Styx and REO and it was great show and I'm sure that tour made money.
Dave has done alright. True he did have some huge shoes to fill, and quite honestly hasn't ever come close to filling them. His pic slide on keep on loving you really needs work. Gary's sounds so musical and smooth! The sound Dave projects on his pic slide sounded like a screeching sound. I guess I would have thought by now he would have mastered that move.
The 2 on your right make all the money. the others are hired guns. They really should be in the Rock and roll hall of fame though with all surviving members. that's where it gets complicated.
I would guess Bryan and Dave are salaried but really well paid while Kevin, Neal and Bruce are getting shares of the profits. But Bryan and Dave are highly paid I'd guess.
Kevin is a dork but he made them all rich in their old age. Even the two that have passed on made enough royalties to have comfortable lives. I like their early music best, but it wasn't going to make them rich.
Hey cd, how bout some respect for the OLD rock n rollers who have paved the way for not only rock n roll , but all musicians. These guys still kick ass, and by the way, who are you? Lol
I think REO is a Great Band and I am sorry about Gary but I think Dave is doing a good job. It wasn't his fault about Gary. Also Kevin is a great talent and without him there would probably wouldn't be a band.Karen Blackman

Legends from Illinois. Have been a fan since 1977!
Paycheck.
Bruce, Alan, Neal, Gary, awesome.
Simply, one of my favorite rock bands. I wish I could enjoy their music for another52 years. REO..... You're awesome.

Bruce Hall! So overlooked in the band and such a great person!
He's beautiful inside and out. I love his energy and contagious joy.
Such a unique band was such a powerful sound! Huge part of my teenage years thank you very much
Don Felder is articulate, friendly and informative. Great interview. The man is the picture of humility.
where is Don Felder here?? That motherfucker was one of the Eagles Guitarists
50 years is very wanderfull.I Love You Guys
I love Gary, but sick of the hate for Dave. Dave is a great guitarist and in his interviews seems like a decent guy.

@@kaylarivers4377- I totally agree with Chuck's comments. I am so tired of the GR's comments on every REO site.
great interviewer - he let's the artists speak
No gary no reo plain and simple!!
Dave Amato is a decent rhythm guitarist but he had almost impossible shoes to fill..
After 27 years he still lives in Richrath's shadow. R.I.P Gary! You were the best!

I Think Dave has done a great job. I've seen REO a few times w/ Dave and he's great..

rock and roll hall of fame soon please...they deserved it!

I think you meant the three on the right, Bruce, Kevin, neal
RIP Gregg Philbin founding member of REO and best groove/fill bass player they ever had. Should have kept him in the band in my opinion.
Speedwagon for presidents!
One more thing, they've paid there does and in some countries the younger generation have respect for their elders

Omg kevin. Now you pretend to like gary after his death? Oh give it up for gary. Too bad he had to be dead for you to say that.
Yes, that was a little nauseating, wasn't it!!
Hey cd, how bout some respect for the OLD rock n rollers who have paved the way for not only rock n roll , but all musicians. These guys still kick ass, and by the way, who are you? Lol
he said modestly ;>)
Camera work is horrible. Zoom in on the band member when they are speaking.
Richard paso away
No way near the Great Gary Richrath sorry Dave but you have to do alot of playing more guitar but you will never be Gary
Yup, every instrumentalist is unique in their own way.
Huh?

Neal Doughty is still the main reason for the band making it.
Amato is fine but he is not Gary. Bottom line is he is covering guitar parts not creating as Gary did.
Dah, excuse me, paid their dews
It’s dues
@@mafyind I couldn't help but notice how amazingly cringe worthy the original post was. They do have an edit dot lower right corner.
buy a variax Don
Dave Ammato what a joke
You're a joke Dave's making it who the f*** are you? I love Gary too but he let himself go and had issues man
