- We've skipped past some pretty boring patrols... I mean... not boring in the sense that we didn't do anything, but boring in the sense that not much new was shown and the "action" was pretty sporadic. Here, we get the buildup to the Naval Battle at Guadalcanal, an important naval battle near Savo island in the Solomons.

I felt the same about SH5. That's until I found The Wolves of Steel mod, and it's a night and day difference. The shell of SH5 feels really good, and the mod just adds the content, and complexity the game deserved/needed. Together they make my favorite game out of the series.
I've got SH5 and TWoS installed but still find the game a bit less... interesting... compared to the Fleet Boats. About the only thing it really adds is the interior of a Type VII uboat and cuts all of the "progression" for a rather meh "story". I've never played SH5 all the way through. It just doesn't hold my interest. But I've played SH4 until the end numerous times.
I'd love for a new sub sim game which WASN'T about uBoats...
@@Whiskey11Gaming Fair enough. I loved being in the pacific commanding a US fleet boat. I guess I'm more in love with the UI set up with SH5, and I'm not sure how to explain it lol. However, the game play and story is 4 all of the way. Which is why I'm watching this playthrough, and not SH3, or Uboat :)
At 21:00 you only timed two minutes, not three. Hence why you only got 6 knots instead of 9knots. 👍

No way the IJN would use these big ships in the Solomons which only have ports fit for canoes.
Hah, I can't say for certain they would have, but the game is more a suggestion of reality than actual historic fact. Real Fleet Boat adds as much realism as the engine allows, which isn't much... but it's enough to ramp up difficulty noticeably!
