- Rebekah Higgs shows you how to turn a swinging door into a sliding door in this step by step DIY tutorial!
Do it yourself on a budget. Learn how to create more space in a small home by using sliding doors. A barn door rail is easy to install and won't cause a lot of mess to add this to your home. It's stylish, affordable and looks great. Use an old vintage door to save even more money!
The Sliding door Rail System came from Kent.ca and the door was found at Renovators Resource! - Krátké a kreslené filmy
You are so lucky to find that door! I love it! Great video!
Thanks! I was very lucky! women's washroom?! whaaat... perfect for our girls only house!
Found you through eyes for the job. Thank you!
Nice video, thanks for sharing! For anyone using a similar system: Rebekah has opted to put the bottom guide on the outside. If you're worried about the skirting board getting marked, I'd recommend routing a channel in the bottom of the door and slotting the guide in there. This will also mean the guide is less visible :D
Ah interesting! I guess i didn't know which side the guide goes on, figured it would keep it from swinging out when it is shut.
@@HEYMOMHEY neither side. It's designed to run in the centre of the door, requiring a routered channel in the base as explained above
BEAUTIFUL DOOR. WONDERFUL JOB
DIY Mom Rebekah - You rock!!!! I am doing this project on my bedroom door ! Thanks !
perfect! thanks Robin!
Good job mom, you are an inspiration
Thanks so much!
I love that you are doing all of this with your daughter! That's how mom's work! Also, I love the door that you chose and the video is excellent (short, to the point, interesting, and inspirational). Thank you for posting! I hope that you do many, many, many more videos!

.
Looks great! I'm putting one in our bathroom as well and was frustrated to have to use a header, but yours looks great... not so frustrated anymore! :)
Thanks!
Great job!!! High five
Beaded curtains are all that's needed, cheaper too, just tell guests to go have a beer in the kitchen while you "do your thing". ☺
LOL!!!
haha. this door is upstairs, not in the "guest" area?
I am from India 🇮🇳
Inspiring women! Go moms! 💁♀️💪
What do you have on the inside to open and close (and lock?) the door? I want to do this for my bathroom on my main floor. Thank you!
Hey Lisa! I don’t actually have anything to lock the bathroom door.... if you wanted you could use a hook latch
your a good carpenter mam...
Thank you!
This is a great tutorial but what did you do for the hinge and lock holes on the door frame?
I did't do anything for the lock but you could do a hook and eye style lock
Can you lock the door since it does not fit into the door frame?
So I wanted to use MDF as the header but I'm worried about the lag screws pulling out of it instead of something like popular. Were you somehow able to hit a stud with your lag screws?
Yeah I hit the studs!
So I have the same door issue. I want to change French doors into sliding doors, do I need to buy new doors? Or can I use my existing ones and just change the knobs?
a little wider than the door frame works best for privacy. it's possible to use the doors you have, but you might need to add a few inches to each side
What if I want to use my original door? I am doing this for my closet in a condo I am leasing. What adjustments would I have to make to make sure the door closes over the door opening?
You would have to retrim the door frame if you want it to cover it. The old door is smaller than the frame...
Hi there,
What did you do for the door knob on the inside? How does it not hit the trim each time the door closes. Did you change it out?
i put a sliding door circle pull on the inside, so it doesn't bump.
If u push it from the other end i feel like it will fall….i wanted a sliding door in my room so bad and this would be 100th vidoes I watched n m still confused…will it fall if i kick it from other end???
did you put a lock on that door ?
just a hook and eye
How do you lock the door from the inside ?
nice job but that last little plastic piece is meant to hold the door in place via a groove cut into the bottom of the door running the width of the door. There are other types of door guides that don't require a groove but instead wrap around the bottom of the door in a u-shape to achieve the same effect. Did you mount the anti jumpers to the top? Those little black discs that come with the rail package.
Hi ❤️
What is the tool that is used?
great job! what about a lock?
Hook and eye on the inside!
I want the ❤️door but the store is in Nova Scotia :( the kid hangs on her back while she works 😂
gotta keep the kids busy while you work. lol
where is the hardware from ?
I bought the hardware on amazon!
Amazon!
Can you cut the track shorter?
if you had a way to cut it, i'm sure you could.
How tight is the door to the wall? I want to do this in our very small basement bath that we are adding, but I'm concerned about privacy. Can you see inside the bathroom from the side?
karenmlovelady on this one you can a little but if you take off the baseboards it can sit closer to the frame and you could likely figure out a privacy set up. Pocket door would be better for sound and privacy
Is the door not too transparent for a bathroom?
you can use whatever door you want, this one is frosted glass, it was originally from an old office building in halifax and was used for the washroom door!
They don’t make doors like that any more
Quite baby.
