This is a much nicer and human way to raise hens! They all look and sound happy!
We think so also!
It’s so special that you guys took the time for this farm tour and answer so many questions. It’s a great service for all of us new farmers so that we can start off on the right foot, minimize mistakes and extra expense. The farming community that does videos like this are so vital to the industry. Greatly appreciate all of the time and effort that goes into your work to help us out. Thank you very much!!
Watching from Zimbabwe
Once you wash the eggs they have to be refrigerated because washing removes the protective coating on the shell.
We love Seven Sons Farm! We’ve been buying their meat for 5 years!
When I watch these tours I put myself in the subjects place imagining where we humans will be adapting soon.
Amazing operation 👏 🙌 👌 💪 👍 ❤️
We agree! Thanks for watching!

Amazing farmers working together
I absolutely loved this episode. What a wonderful life to live. Hard work, but hard work doesn't mean it's not wonderful work.
We're so glad you enjoyed! It's clear that the Hitzfield family is passionate about their work, and their farm has such a wonderful impact on the land they steward, the animals they raise, and the folks they feed. Hope you'll watch the next live farm tour with us!
@@HeiferUSA Definitely. You're quickly becoming one of my favourite channels. I love the long form, in depth chats and tours. It's wonderful and it somehow keeps my own hopes alive of doing something similar one day. God bless you all x

Amazing watching seven sons farm with these incredible videos about their farm
I watched a recorded version from Botswana. Nicely done gents.
More farms should do regenerative farming. This type of farming is a great deal of work but worthwhile for animals and humans.
Thank you guys. Thank you for feeding our country. Thank you to Heifer USA for this wonderful work of bringing this valuable info to the world. Let us know where we can find the T-t-shirts, tote bags, hats, cars stickers, etc...
Just awesome show, love your farm seven sons.
That's a huge farm, incredible.
Thanks for the tour👍🏽👍🏽👊🏽👊🏽👏🏽👏🏽
To keep the smell down even more in the winter coop, you should mix the wood chips with biochar or potash.
Love to see Heifer USA knowing about and caring about regenerative ways of farming/growing/managing lands.

Thank you all so much! I love what you're doing (Heifer USA and Seven Sons!). I love all the examples because I can have an idea of what I can do and hope for at a much smaller scale.
Great work this! from Nairobi Kenya.
Pretty amazing that 7 brothers and 20 employees can pull operating costs plus income from 500 acres. Only in America.
Still they can do alot and more
Soon venturing into farming 🧺
Good luck! Be sure to subscribe to our channel for all the best tips, tricks, and trainings in regenerative agriculture!

Wow, very impressed with this video and farm! Really well done. How is the grain tube on the roof protected from rain and birds, and still be accessible to the feed trailer’s auger pipe?
Superb farm subbed.
I adore it 💗😍😍😍.
I would love to work on a farm like this. The pigs look very content. It is nice to see pigs used for clearing brish instead of just for meat/
From Indy. awesome
This is fantastic.
SO glad you enjoyed it!
pessoas como voces fazem a diferença no mundo
It’s hard working and not being lazy
raised to farm. was a farmsharer. 1/2 and 1/2. used to grow tobacco
Thanks Vidio full
Welcome
Love it
How long are the chickens kept for laying eggs?
What happens to them after that?
Any losses to predators?
Thanks!
Yep the chickens are the bread and butter for the farmers
Where is your farn located Sir? It's beautiful and amazing!!!
I like it.... How you manage a regenerative farm
We’ve been building our homestead slowly. Great tip on the preparing for winter by getting rid of some animals. Hay has gone up. We’ve even noticed the price increase on pine shavings for the chickens the past month. We are hopefully getting some sheep by next month, so definitely something to consider come next winter. Thanks!

Do you train your livestock to be comfortable being transported in the trailer?
So, what was the issue with touring inside the large building?
GREAT
Why won't you show the processing facility. What are you hiding? Your answer to why you wash the eggs was incomplete also. It greatly lessons the storage life of the egg.
from Nairobi, kenya
good info, just try to get away from the noise when interviewing, when possible. just a little distracting
Like dat 7sons video
Thanks for sharing but maybe you could supply your employees some ear plug to protect their hearing. It is pretty noisy in the egg sorting facilities.
Was it hard loosing the bigger acres and do you plan on getting big again
Thank you so much for this amazing video very interesting and useful do you have recommendations about farmers coaching?
Amazing process. Thank you for the great video.
Watching from Kenya
what kind of dog breed are you guardian dogs?
Would love to know more about the dogs where do you get them from and do you do your own training
very nice. very very nice thanks. how do you keep the dogs from eating the chickens? how much would it cost for a trained dog and does it naturally train its pups or do you need external help?
How do you house the sheep in the winter, thanks.
Hi! Your people working the egg washing operation should be wearing earplug protection.
nice operation to watch couple questions. on dairy farm in Wisconsin here but want to add some chickens . how do you keep the hen houses water and eggs from freezing in the winter and in snow storms to take care of chickens are they on pasture year round? how many of those nests you need for how many chickens thank you
Hello fellow WI dairy farmer (!!!) ( I'm not currently farming). I don't know all the answers to those great questions, hope you get some more replies, but I totally suggest you check out Richard Perkins channel ( Ridgedale Permaculture). He's a Brit, farming in Sweden. Near-ish the coast, so, temps mitigated some, but is also very cold, and long winters. He'd been overwintering his layers in his high-tunnel 'greenhouse' , on deep bedding. Not heated. Don't recall how he handled water. Also check out Joel Salatin's similar set-up and solutions for those issues. As for hoses, not that I think anyone is using them in winter ( or at all really) but just want u to know that there is such a thing as a heated hose. Learned about this at a campground once, from a guy living full-time in one near DeKalb, IL ( as in, quite-cold part of IL, colder than nearer the Lake ... ). I know some ( Salatin I think) are able to have the bedding pack have enough warmth going in it by the time the colder weather hits, enough to keep the waterers sitting on it from freezing. Hopefully, having them on even a shallow concrete block/paver ( to keep above the bedding being kicked in so much )would still transmit the heat enough, IDK but that's my goal. I hate the water always being filthy. Or, using a barrel set on the warm pack, with a few of the little drinking cups for poultry (or other types of poultry water things) connected to it, whatever won't freeze all the time in the device.. . I'd thought greenhouses like that would be too problematic with humidity issues for livestock/poultry, but these guys do it just fine. They are large, maybe enough space makes that less of an issue... ??
hi guys severo south africa
This is amazing. I love that they use a deep litter system for the layers and not battery cages. I Currently use a deep litter system for mine.
Do you harvest the walnuts as well?
Wow that's a lot of chicken
for sure!!
