Surprising those markers run like $40 and you have to buy paint which is like $6-8 a can. I don’t get long enough logs to make it work for me. If you have nice straight long logs it’s definitely the quickest way.
Believe me I know the small diameter wood will beat you up. I try to tell my tree svc companies not to deliver anything below 8" diameter. Good job. I run 20" on smaller stuff and 25" on bigger diameter logs.
I don’t always measure myself. I eye ball it a lot but I have been cutting a little short lately so I went back to measure to get my length again haha.
Hey Matt just a heads up I have had a couple tools that were non dewalt that used my dewalt batteries and the batteries ended up frying. It could be a coincidence but if you got several dewalt batteries I would recommend only using the same few in case they mess the batteries up. 82 degrees here in Pilot Mtn NC today I know it’s hot down there around Trinity. Winter to Summer what happened to spring? Have a good one
have a 400 462 500 all with 25 inch bars run half skid chains and sharpen with 2 in 1 stihl not a fan of light bars dont seam to take the abuse i give them
I think the 400 is a little under powered with a 25” bar even with a skip tooth chain. I love my light bar and haven’t had any problems with it. The 2n1 does do a good job just a little aggressive for me.
@@FirewoodontheHill I have an idea for a cutting platform for your logs that don't want to line up on your other cutting deck. Make two platforms 8 foot x 10 foot with a 3-foot space in between for a walkway. 2 x 4 is cheap now so you could use 2 x 4 or logs for materials. The total size would be 10 feet by 19 feet with access all around and in the center. Place the miscellaneous logs on without regard to orientation, for cutting. Cut from all directions. Try to speak a bit more clearly so it is not as difficult for us to listen. It would help your channel. If you don't know what I am talking about you could probably find someone to explain it and get their opinion.
You know those small pieces of wood could be sold cause people are buying these small back yard fire pits that can only take a six to eight inch piece of wood and there are some fire wood cutter taking Advantage of this and cutting six to eight inch wood and selling it at a higher price then the sixteen inch so getting rid of it a lose of income something you could look into just saying
Adam from Hometown acres has a rolling marker device which appears much easier to use and probably way cheaper.

Don't be afraid to use the picaroon, your back will thank you the older you get. Good video 👍
This is true. I try to use it more often than not
Nice cutting Matt! I have your hat and shirt from the Paul Bunyan last October. Good quality stuff!
Thank you and I’m glad you like them!
I mark logs the same way, only i drilled bar hole little bigger and use 5/16 all thread, with fender washer..
Whatever works! Those markers have gotten way too expensive!
25” bar is the way to go. I run a 18” on my limbing saw.
Nice and yeah that extra length is nice.

I see so many people marking 16 in lengths...where I am it's not that fussy...I don't mark ...I'm Sooooooo close to 16 inches that no one complains !😊

Great video!! I enjoy the 25 inch bar, but on smaller stuff I use the 20 inch bar. Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day

Yes you are right. I have so much extra little wood that I would nerve run out haha . I just don’t have time to deal with it.
