This version of TTTT had one of the slickest sets in game show history IMO. Trebek did a great job on this.

Right Trebek ended up doing 3 shows around this time for a short period. He did Jeopardy, and Classic Concentration.

The sets were the handy work of veteran set designer Anthony Sabatino ("Soul Train", "Fun House", "High Rollers", and former NBC daytime game show "I'm Telling!").

At 9:56 he teared up while Alex mentioning his donor transplant. His left eye. The first 2 were too smiley and jolly happy affect compared to #3 whom was emotional but controlled the best he could. Bless him.

I knew it wasn't #1 since she said Joe Besser took Curly's place since in actuality Shemp returned to The Stooges after Curly had a stroke and then Joe took Shemp's place after he died.

@@orbison Alex Trebek replaced former Football Player Lynn Swann who played for the Pittsburgh Steelers but was unable to continue to host because he was under contract with ABC Sports at the time before he got into politics. By the way, Lynn Swann originally replaced Gordon Elliott as the host of "To Tell the Truth" after a situation. Gordon, was a correspondent on the syndicated newsmagazine show "A Current Affair" which was hosted by Maury Povich. Even producer Mark Goodson filled in as host of "To Tell the Truth" when Alex Trebek's wife was giving birth.

    • @marcpower4167

This era felt cursed, on premiere day NBC accidentally aired the pilot hosted by Richard Kline, Gordon Elliot originally hosted the series but after a few weeks he had to immediately step down because another production company threatened to sue because they had exclusive rights to him. Gordon did a pilot for them but was under the assumption they weren't going any further with the project. Lynn was a regular panelist and was called on to step in as host, Lynn had to leave after 14 weeks due to his commitments with ABC sports, Alex took over for the rest of the run minus 2 shows he was forced to miss when his wife Jean went into labor. Mark Goodson filled in for those 2 shows. Mark claimed he had never hosted the show before. But he actually did fill in once for Bud Collyer on the original show. Alex btw, mentioned in his biography that Mark still paid him for those 2 shows regardless.
