What’s the TV show Breaking Bad about?
Walter White (Bryan Cranston from Godzilla and Total Recall), a chemistry teacher, is diagnosed with lung cancer. He decides to make and sell methamphetamine to repay his medical debts and secure his family’s future.
Season 5 of Breaking Bad:
With Gustavo (Giancarlo Esposito) dead, Walter (Bryan Cranston from Godzilla and Total Recall) and Jesse (Aaron Paul) decide to start their own drug empire. They team up with Mike (Jonathan Banks), Gus' former henchman. They also team up with Lydia (Laura Fraiser) and Todd (Jesse Plemons).
Hank (Dean Norris), now head of the DEA, gets involved in the Gus Fring case and tightens his grip on Mike, who will be forced to leave the operation. Jesse quickly does the same. Walter helps Mike to organize his escape but mortally wounds him in a fit of rage. Later, he makes Todd his new assistant.
Thereafter, Walter knows an uninterrupted success and accumulates enormous amounts of money. One day, Skyler (Anna Gunn) shows him the impressive pile of money, explaining that she can no longer launder it and begging him to stop. Soon after, Walter decides to leave the business for good.
Everything seems to be back to normal when Hank discovers that Walter is Heisenberg. Heisenberg buries his money in the desert and convinces Jesse to leave town, but Jesse agrees to surrender to Hank and his partner Steve (Steven Michael Quezada). Hank, Steve and Jesse manage to capture Walter in the desert. Walter, thinking that Jesse would be alone, hired Todd's uncle Jack (Michael Bowen) and his men to come and execute him, but tries to back out when he sees Hank with him, however Jack ignores this and a shootout ensues. Jesse is captured, Steve is shot, Hank is wounded, then coldly killed by Jack despite Walter's pleas. The mobsters find the hidden money and seize the quasi-totality, Todd insisting to leave him a small part of it. Walter then decides to flee with his family, but Skyler and Walter Jr. (RJ Mitte), terrorized, refuse to follow him.
Walter leaves to live in reclusion in New Hampshire, but his cancer relapses. Jesse is reduced to a slave by Todd, and after an escape attempt, Todd coldly shoots Andrea, Jesse's girlfriend. Later, Walter takes the risk to contact his son in order to give him money, but this one refuses and declares that he would prefer him dead. Desperate, Walter is about to turn himself in before he stumbles upon a television interview with his former partners, who downplay his contribution to the creation of their company. Overcome with resentment, he decides to act. He entrusts, under threat, the 10 million dollars which remain to him to his former associates, by making them promise that they will give them to Walter Jr. at his majority. He then says goodbye to Skyler and confesses to her that he did all that to feel alive and not for his family as he had always affirmed it. He manages to free Jesse and to kill Jack, Todd and their men, but is mortally wounded. He dies in a meth lab on his 52nd birthday, two years to the day after the events of the first episode.

He doesn’t care he is a danger to his family. He realised that the facade he put up with his family is gone. His family doesn’t see him as Walter anymore. He also probably realised he should’ve done what Tuco said and ran with the money. He knows he’s done for, he knows his money and empire and gone. That’s why he’s so distraught, imo.

Oof, that line gives me chills every time. Anna Gunn's delivery is so raw there.
Also, the fight between Walt and Skylar around 1:35 feels so much more terrifying and real than most fight scenes. There's no fast cuts and quick jabs where you can barely see what's going on. You can see and hear every bit of their struggling to grab the knife and stab the other.
And then TO TOP IT OFF, Skylar White just falling to her knees in pure, silent horror as she realizes Walt just used their own infant daughter as a weapon against her and now has no idea if she'll ever see her alive again... man. I sometimes can’t believe people hated Skyler. Almost everything she did was a natural response and you should’ve been able to tell Walt was the villain of the story the whole time. Walt didn’t do this for his family, he dragged his family into this
No sometimes but mostly not. She suggested Walt kill Jesse to protect the family then turns around and turn on him with the thought he killed Hank. Walt tried to turn himself in, she talked him out of it which lead to Hank getting killed. Forced herself into his business. Told him to move back in then claimed to be a hostage. Fucked her boss in response to a yes or no question. And imo The show isn't about Walt being the villain because really wasn't. The point was every character "broke bad" the only characters that didn't break bad were Gomie, Walt Jr. How was Walt the true villain if even after being arrested he tried to save Hank. After Jesse snitched saved him anyway. And he did do it for his family, the problem is Everytime he was gonna stop he had no family to go to which pushed him deeper into drug game. Until season 5 when his ego completely took over. Think about it Walt refused Gus offer because it ruined his family. He only accepted after realizing he couldn't get his wife back. Walt became a scumbag but Villain?
She fucked Ted though.
I think the dislike for her character was mostly season 1 when she was just given the role of nagging wife. The character development they gave her in season 2 on made her a lot more dynamic as she was able to put the pieces together.
@@jetla22 Gilligan literally said that Walter is the villain of breaking bad

This scene is a prime example of the boy who cried wolf. The one time Walt didn’t lie, his family didn’t believe him. He actually tried to save Hank, but with how many times he’s lied, of course his family isn’t going to believe him. Although Walt did indirectly kill Hank so I guess Skyler is somewhat right
Thing is Walt is perfectly capable of killing Hank, but due to some moral reasons he didn't. But his own family or anyone will never believe that. Walt himself said he's the danger to Skyler, so why would she believe anything he says otherwise.

My god the ‘we’re a family!’ Followed immediately by Skyler and Flynn cowering terrified and shocked is just brilliant
Would you consider yourself to be a good person?
How many lies have you told, and what do you call someone who lies? Have you ever stolen something, and what do you call someone who steals? Have you ever taken God’s name in vain (very serious; in Old Testament times, the Jews wouldn’t even say the name of God for fear of blasphemy) - even ‘OMG’? One more: Jesus said whoever looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery in his heart; have you ever looked with lust?
Well I’m not judging you - but if you’ve done these things then you’re a liar, thief, blasphemer and adulterer-at-heart; that’s how seriously God takes sin. He is Holy (perfectly good/righteous and separate from sin) which means that H e is perfect in justice - and if He were to judge you by the moral law (we’ve already looked at 4 commandments) would you be innocent or guilty? Heaven or Hell? The answer is hell - the wrath of God upon you for your sin. Is that concerning?
But fortunately, God’s will is not that you perish. He wants all men everywhere to be saved. So do you know what He did for us guilty sinners? In self-giving mercy, He sent His Son Jesus Christ. He lived the perfect life that we should have lived - tempted at all points and yet He NEVER sinned. Through His life, being in very nature God, He revealed God to men; but we in our hatred condemned Him to death. On that cross as Jesus suffered, He took on the sin of the world and was judged in our place; receiving God’s wrath. You and I broke God’s law, but Jesus paid the fine. God can justly forgive us.
On that cross He died, then He was buried, but 3 days later He was raised from the dead - conquering death and Hell and ushering in The Kingdom of God. He then ascended to the right hand of God the Father (where He came from) now Lord of the living and the dead. God has fixed a date when He will judge the world in righteousness. What you need to do is repent (In humility, acknowledge your sin before God and turn to a relationship with Him) and trust ALONE in Jesus Christ and His work on the cross; and God will grant you the gift of the Holy Spirit. Then be baptised.
When you place your trust in Jesus - the Lord and Saviour - these things will happen:
1) God will forgive the sins that you have committed; they were paid for by Jesus at the cross.
2) The perfect life that Jesus lived will be credited to you. He will find you holy and blameless on judgement day (and now), as Christ’s righteousness covers you.
3) You receive a place in Christ’s kingdom as an adopted child of God. God becomes your Father. Eternal life isn’t just about living forever, but a personal relationship with God Himself. That life can start now; The Father will reveal Himself to you if you seek Him.
4) God doesn’t just save you from the penalty of your sin (Hell). He can save you from the power of sin itself. Whoever practices sin is a slave of sin; but when you repent and believe the gospel [WHICH HAS BEEN DESCRIBED] the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in you and sanctify you (working in you to further abandon sin and turn to the will of God). When the end of the age comes, and eternity begins, this work will be brought to completion as you are finally freed from the presence of sin.
Jesus offers to take away your sin and to give you His righteousness; you must receive it by faith. Choose this day if you will align with the world, or with Jesus and His kingdom - only His is eternal.

@@redfirebonus9408 Yeah because she was right and he knew that. He did indirectly kill Hank.
Something that isn't being acknowledged enough here is how this scene showcases how intelligent Walter really is. As soon as Walter Jr. called 911 and he realizes his cover's been blown, he "kidnaps" their daughter without a moment's hesitation to set-up for incriminating himself solely for his crimes and making Skyler seem innocent through the later phone call. He formulated that plan right on the spot and executed it flawlessly. He really was a genius.
It wasn't because of that. There's a scene when walt was on a toilet with Holly on his arms and she keeps calling her mother which clearly makes him feel guilty and sad by the look on his face. If it really was planned he wouldn't have reacted that way.
@@pedroaquino2681 I saw that scene more as Walter really just coming to terms that his kids are better off with Skyler and he's just feeling all kinds of emotions while his daughter's just wailing
Fun interpretation but no. It was Walter’s last ditch effort to salvage any part of his family. He was genuinely going to take Holly away with him. It’s only until he’s changing her in the bathroom and she calls for her mother that he realizes he cannot do that to her and he has to come up with a plan.
He says at first “you’re gonna get a brand new carseat” or something, insinuating that she’s gonna be sticking around with him

There's a behind the scene video about this scene. There were many takes Skyler had to do and these cuts were all separated takes. That's why it didn't transition to another cut naturally
Definitely. She's already frantically screaming at the window, which naturally assumes she's going to immediately be pursuing the truck as it's pushing out of the driveway and then tearing down the street, no matter the cost to her person. Perhaps they had to keep Anna Gunn well clear because of the stunt. But then her next shot should absolutely be in hot pursuit. Not her just standing in the driveway. The whole scene is so brilliantly acted and directed. This one unfortunate choice of cut momentarily affects the suspension of disbelief.
I am literally brought to tears every time I watch this seen. It’s so emotional, so heartbreaking, everything every second. It’s probably the best scene in the series if not modern television history. You can literally feel the scene. The acting is superb.
Skyler's psychology in this scene is so heartbreakingly realistic. After her fight with Walt she's clearly been traumatized and is probably going into shock trying to calm herself down, but as soon as she realizes that Walt is taking Holly, she forces herself to ignore all of that stress just to try and pursue him to save her.
And she even keeps up the chase long after she knows that he's going to get away and there's nothing she can do to stop him. Only once the car's entirely out of view does she finally give up; they did a great job capturing a mother's protective instinct. No parent would want to accept that they've failed to protect their child, and that's why it feels so agonizingly long to watch Holly slip away from Skyler here
She slashed him with the knife first shut up
