I don’t mind Bard not looking strong, I just really appreciate the theme with Chimes and randomly collecting them.
Bard has always been the weirdest support champion in League, so I think that here his strength will be based on who you pair him with. Renekton maybe?
I know he's not out yet, but i wouldn't exactly call 3 chimes per round right off the bat from bard alone "not looking strong".

I wouldn't be surprised if they made the Origin mechanic with Bard in mind. From his lore to his gameplay to even his title, he's a wanderer, so him being tied to any specific region(s) doesn't make sense. There are other champions that wander (eg. Ryze, Fiddle, and Evelynn), and someone like Aurelion transcends regions, but Aurelion can be tied to Targon, since he's motivated by his grudge against them, and other wanderers are nowhere near as wandery as Bard.

Fun fact:When Bard levels up,you can see him go through portals,but the portals depict level up animations of other champions,like Shyvana,Galio,Malphite and Level 3 Azir

Fun fact: Bard doesn't speak but he does make musical noises. And the form you see him in is just a human-ish form he fashioned for himself while roaming on Runeterra. Which makes sense, considering he's a cosmic being.

I LOVE Caitlyn's concept, but it never quite clicked for me.Using the traps design in a positive manner is just amazing as a concept and makes me grin. Can't wait to play with this!

Every card you pick up never know what to expect
I was playing Bard against this matchup, I lost once and I won once.
It really depends if you can manage to stop the shuffling of traps and maximize the shuffling of chimes.
When Bard lvl up you can see, Shyvanna, Galio, Shurima and Malphite :)
And also the Sun Disc, which will have a important role in the coming Void event

His level up is for buffs made to cards in play or hand so deck buffs don’t count although I do love thocc Freljord units.

@@DogestDogeYT Lurk becomes weaker for each non Lurk card you put in it. And the champion slots are already saturated. His level 2 form doesn't provide any payoff to Lurk at all.
@@JohnPaul-EruRainon exactly. not worth sacrificing a rek'sai or pyke for bard, plus if IIRC, origin counts as a region so you would have to lose bilgewater or shurima.
I remember seeing a comment back in Caitlin's reveal about traps that would benefit you instead of harming you. Got exactly what they wished for.
It's so great that we can have more of Bard's lore in these cards.

I love this, the reverse trap buffs fits bards roaming for his peeps in league
Welp Bard is pretty sick with some cool combinations:
Zed/Ionia- one of the best options since both Zed and his clones share the same stats and once Zed levels up they also share the same keywords as well making Zed a really great champion to pair up with chimes. Add to that the fact the Ionia can provide you with a lot of protection making it feeling less worse when you're investing resources into a unit just for it to be removed a Vengance. Another thing to note is that Ionia also has access to a lot of great cards that work well with handbuffs such as Inpiring Master, Greenglade Duo, Greenglade Lookout, Greenglade Elder, Keeper of Masks, Navori Highwayman, Sown Seeds, Rivershaper, Jeweled Protector etc. So imo Ionia might be one of the best regions to pair with Bard.
Udyr/Frejlord- Udyr and really enjoy the stat buffs from chimes and Udyr can keep growing bigger with the stances and his level up thus making it easier to level up with Bard. Also with Revna (the new 6 cost follower) being added during the next expansion she is the best target to hit with chimes.
Gnar- in Gnar's case, the fact Gnar transforms back to his lvl 1 and then back to his lvl 2 is really great beause each time he transforms his stats will increase by +2/+2 every time thus making it easier to level him up. The same applies to every transformed unit since with each transformation their stats increase by +2/+2. Another card to note here is Chief Nakotak since he not only fully heals a transformed unit he also grants it +1/+1 thus helping Bard's level up.
Yuumi/Attach- Yummi and any attach unit will love the extra stats so it will make it a lot better when they attach to any unit. I don't know if attach will level up Bard but I assume it does because you do add extra stats to a unit in play. Also, Yuumi's effect will also help leveling up Bard himself so she is a great combination with him.
Garen/Elites- with the new buff Garen got the fact he increases the stats of the units on board will help leveling up Bard fairly quickly depending on your board state, the same is applied for Bannerman as well but it's more restricting due to alliegiance. Battlesmith also helps Bard's level up, and the new elite support card works really well with Bard because you increase the stats of the unit that summoned by it and if you've spent 9+ mana on it then it'll also increase the stats of the elites on board. Add to that the fact that elites are already well stated and you'll get a much better elite deck imo.
I'm sure there are many more combinations with Bard and chimes but I think the sheer value he provides will bring in a lot of cool concepts. Good job Riot.
Vi could be interesting, since her whole wincon is to have her at hand to buff her to 10. Piltover also has a decent amount cards for drawing and discarding, minimizing the chance of chimes buffing other cards.
@@bohlam6c Yeah but the issue with that is if you increase her attack while she is in your hand your opponent can see Bard's level up ping so he knows you have her in hand. Viktor is a neat idea thought since Augment will increase his attack thus making him work well with Bard, and you can also play the 5 mana augment follower that no one plays even in a Viktor deck lol.
@@shai310 or , this might be crazy, Demacia Yordle in Arms. Poppy for a faster yet riskier buff, and tristana for a saver option. Not to mention fae sprout is a cheap hand buff, especially if it counts as 2. And theres that new demacia spell that gives +1|+1 on all allies for a turn. Again if +1|+1 counts as 2 thats a cheap and easy 10 total stat buff

I wish he got interactions with other champs where he makes the noises and the other character is just like "I have no idea what you're saying" but you'd have a few, like Zoe, that somehow understand it.
Bard was always one of my favorite champions in lol, simply because of the soothing sounds eveything he does make
I play Bard because being in botlane after 5 minutes of game is boring.

I feel like there will be more per region, so likely all regions will have boons of some sort.
At least, Bard's level up condition isn't that restricted for his own archetype. Cool.
But why were there cards like Zhaunite Urchin? I mean, it has nothing to do with chimes. I dont get, how it was possible to be in a deck with bard?
@@Terminathan300 Because with Runeterra champions you still build a deck with 2 chosen regions (PnZ is one of them in this case) Bard just allows any extra cards with 'Chimes' to be added into the deck, regardless of region.

I am a massive sucker for cosmic travel, anything to do with the stars. So seeing all the detail and wonder that they put into Bard is so damn AMAZING!
Bard is a bit darker than this, though. He let an entire village be burned and pillaged in order to prevent a cosmic artifact falling into mortal hands.
I see no reason for his origin to not be "cards with Boons" to give him future potential, instead of just the Chimes.
They can always update it once non-chimes boon cards exist.
I'd say it gives more design space so Boons aren't just restricted to chimes, and in case more boons come in, Bard doesn't break and need to be reworked. It's better if it feels a bit on the weaker side and buffed later, than if it totally breaks and needs a nerf.

Since Bard just released I wonder how his portals work, like are they instantly there whenever he feels like it or he sings/chants something to make them appear? I wanna see how chimes will affect some cards on the other hand like traps and chimes on the same card.
In League of Legends, his third ability shows him swinging his "weapon" to make said portals appear, aside of being able to use said item for many other things!
He can open them up in as much time as it takes him to play a note on his instrument. He just goes "bwap" and they appear out of thin air, picture it like blowing a hole into space-time with a trumpet.
Does anyone else miss the champ interactions instead of just PVE shots?
