    I had my first attempt today and scorched them, luckily, I was making food items for a dolls house and would have had to paint the leg of lamb and roast chicken but, as it happens they came out exactly the right colour. The rest were wooden bowls as it Medieval and spoons and the couple of things that cant be used can be chopped up to use as petfood in the house. Thanks for this video because I cant afford a rerun lol! Thanks again, I will get a thermometer because its better to know exactly and I will 'tent' the things I make. I subscribed because this video was super imformative for complete beginners like me!

    Thank you so much for sharing these tips... I have that same oven and just recently started working with clay and with the first bake I got discouraged because, of course I nearly burned my first batch and the colors also changed. I can't wait to create again following your tips.

    Hi
    Thank you for the tips, I badly needed it. I had burnt my clays so many times that I feel like giving up on them. But I will give it one more try after purchasing a small oven toaster. Keep posting your experiences, these are helpful.

    Good morning Stephanie. Very informative and helpful but also misleading in one aspect. You stated that you purchased this small oven at WalMart (all well and good) but you said that it is a "convectional" oven. Unless I am mistaken, this is not a "convection" oven because a convection oven has a fan inside to move the heated air around and your oven is too small to include such a feature. Just saying. I should not be such a stickler about things like this but it can be misleading to some people.

    Hi,
    Can you tell me what is "a white copy paper" ? The leaf that you show looks strong and I wonder what can of paper it is, it does not look parchment paper ...And can you explain me why it needs to be white. The color of the leaf/paper might bleed onto the clay meanwhile it is baking ?

  • @claycreations5169
    @claycreations5169 Před 3 lety +2

    Hi! I have preheated my piece and observed that they kinda melt. Is this because of the kind of clay? Also, do you preheat your oven toaster? I am working on oven toaster and preheated the oven for about 5mins but my clay still burnt. 🥺

    • @theseasaltco5691
      @theseasaltco5691  Před 3 lety +2

      I always preheat my oven for at least 15 min and check my thermometer often to make sure it’s not too hot. I burned my pieces at first too, it’s okay. Use practice pieces until you have your process the way you like it. This could be a few things; what temp does your clay require? Different clays need different temperatures. If you haven’t already try to get an oven thermometer. Are you using tile in your oven to prevent hot temperature spikes? And are you renting your pieces?

      And it got discolored
      But never hardened
      I was baking it for over 40 minutes and it was still malleable

    Hi!!! I just got a toaster oven and I’m baking on a ceramic tile, have the thermometer in there, but my first couple batches have came out of the toaster oven kind of smoking. Is that normal for toaster oven since it’s a more condensed space? Or does this mean I’m actually burning my clay? I’m used to baking in a large standard oven, and I haven’t really had the smoking issue. Is it possible that the white computer paper emits some kind of smoke as well? I just started using paper on top of my tiles.
    Thanks for the help

    What pasta roller do you recommend for the clay?

    • @theseasaltco5691
      @theseasaltco5691  Před 3 lety +1

      I’ve gone through so many so that’s a great question! I’ve used regular pasta machines and they only lasted a couple of weeks, then I bought the Sculpey clay machine and that lasted a few months (it didn’t break but it started clacking and getting stuck), then I bought the Marcato Atlas 150 and it’s hands down my favorite machine. Very smooth results, and it’s extremely sturdy. Brand new they can get pricey but if you don’t mind used you can find them on eBay for under $40. I hope that helped a little. Good luck on finding the right machine for you :)
