I remember becoming a huge AKUS fan when the lineup had Adam Steffey, Alison Brown, Tim Stafford & Barry Bales. My friend and I probably saw them a dozen times or more, and always talked to them afterwards. Adam was always friendly and approachable. He and Sierra are 2 of my favorite musicians
What were the Alisons like? I think my favorite singer of the band was Jeff White, the singer before Staferd. I like Block's songwriting, but Alison Brown was truly something special on the banjo.
I don’t think Adam Steffey gets nearly enough credit for having basically invented the modern mandolin style that all the young prodigies (Sierra Hull, Andy Leftwich, Chris Thile, etc.) play and get such accolades for.
It is wonderful to see Adam’s generosity and how the mandolin culture advances through transmitting the culture.
See the smile on that man's face? Same smile I get too. Their both making magic.
I learned a lot about chopping watching this. Fabulous.
I doubt Adam & Sierra will ever see this but they really should do 10 or 12 more of these. : )
I know Adam watches...:-)
No matter what video or genre I start off watching, I always seem to find myself here.
I find that nowadays this is the real MUSIC that I listen to and enjoy.
Oh yeah 🎵💥🎵

I just bought a mandolin a few days ago... after seeing this vidoo, i'll be practicing for all of eternity now...
And how goes it now after 4 years? Can you play this??
Playing mandolin is a journey, not a destination!
Playing the mando is a serious commitment
@@alan4sure Probably found Chris Thile and burned the mando. 😂
Two of the best ever
Two of my inspirations in one video? Unreal.
i first heard Sierra when she was about 9 or 10 playing Big Mon she blew me away
Adam smiles when Sierra comes in.
There's a lot of joy here! Thank you.
Adam looks GIANT next to Sierra, however both are absolute MACHINES at mandolin pickin'.
Beautiful playing
Amazing. True musicians.
That was wonderful
the tune to learn fast back-up to. wonderfull
Big sciota is the most genteel of all Bluegrass tunes I think
Beautiful. Wonderful
Beautiful picking...
That's some quality musicianship there
Please tour together!
All smiles here
That's great.
Quite a difference in finger size Amazing to hear what he gets with those mitts...W.C.

I couldn't agree more. It is because of Adam that I even picked up the mandolin..
I love it. They would both sound like themselves on a $40 used rouge mandolin.
Yea but playing that cheap rouge would hamper thier true skill
а мне бы балалаечку я бы вам бы сыграл русскую народную молодцы американцы
They both shred. Them and Thile...
So you like mandolin? Here are two of the best!
Make sure that I'm really happy with the amazing music! 👍🎶🎧🎼
Think is the first time I have ever seen her play a A style, what is it a Collings?
It's a Collings, and it's Adam Steffey's mandolin. They switched for the song. He's playing her Weber.
@@drothberg3 True on the Collings, but he's playing her Gibson.
I like the look of the A style but that F Adam is picking on has the cut.
Mandolin has such a small space between the frets. It's got to be harder for him to nail the notes.
Yeah, it looks & sounds like he's having a really hard time at it. 😏
Who's the teacher & who's the student? Lol!
All respect to Sierra -- I like her playing a lot -- but Adam's the teacher.
