From the 1980's into the early 2000's we fostered. I had to say goodbye to hundreds. Yes, your heart will heal. Somewhere there is a book with all their pictures, names, ages. Hundreds of children all with different stories. Twenty years from now you will be at a Walmart, a gas station or a Mall and a teen or young adult will walk up to you and say “aren’t you Mr. and Mrs. Hoppe? I pray Gods riches blessings for you.

Loved watching this. My family got certified last year and got our first placement shortly after of 3 amazing kiddos 6mo old 1yr old and a 2yr old. a little bit crazy. We celebrated all three of their birthdays they grew up a lot in the time they were here and just went back home with their mom a couple weeks ago. We also got a newborn from the hospital recently as well. I love being a foster family so much ❤️

Yeah, the past 1.5 weeks has been a little nuts 😜 but we’re so thankful and things are starting to calm down
I had tears in my eyes listening and watching you guys taking that call. You guys are wonderful for giving children the chance at a safe and loving upbringing. So many don’t get this opportunity to be placed with such great people as yourselves. I work with students with disabilities and so many come from disadvantaged or unstable homes.

😭 y’all are seriously amazing to even consider fostering 1 child, much less 3. Not many would be willing & it’s so nice to see you are interested in giving these children a stable home. I feel so bad for them being forced out by the first foster family.

Omygosh this is amazing! I was put into an orphanage at a young age with my siblings but I was very blessed to be adopted into an American family. I was from Belarus. You are doing Gods work and that’s just awesome! Praying for you and your family !

Hello I just got finished with my home studies and my fingerprints and paperwork done I’m just waiting on my approval letter for foster care and then a placement at this time it’s exciting
So happy for you. We still have 1 more class this Saturday to get our certificate but the home study/visit and a few other things still have to be done. I was crying most of this video. I'm only an aunt of 8 but long to be a true mother-figure. I am so excited for that 1st call (also kinda hoping for siblings).

My partner and I are very near to the finish line of licensure and rewatching this video is bringing me so much calm. Thank you thank you for recording it and sharing about your experience. Seeing the look on your face when you were an immediate "yes" brought tears to my eyes. I know that no call or experience is the same and I am having a little bit of a hard time being anxious about the unknown. Seeing you handle it so beautifully helps me to relax a bit. So eager to hear about your next placement. I would be so interested if you all did a video to share what made you want to get into fostering and if your ultimate goal is to adopt. No pressure because you might not want to share that info.
So glad this video helped calm you down. Yeah, so many unknowns and it’s easy to worry. For me, I have to focus on my faith in God over my fear ❤️
Thanks for the video idea. I’ve talked about those in several videos several years ago, but it’s not the main focus of the video and it’s been awhile, so it’d be good to make another video - plus our ideas of ultimate goal has definitely shifted since we first started to foster.

I'm from the UK, it was awesome seeing what you have done to prepare and witnessing your first phone call. My husband and I got licensed on the 19/10/2022 so far we have had 7 potential placements, were still waiting.

Yeah, the first few days we were very lenient, letting them know this was a safe place, letting them eat whatever and giving extra stories and snuggles at night which was needed for the first few days
and now we’re on a much better schedule and it’s really helping with behaviors 😊

Honestly this is one of the most helpful videos on foster care I’ve seen for a couple that is considering fostering. My husband and I have been talking about fostering and adoption since early in dating, but only recently have started to consider that it might be time. Just seeing your emotions and how the call went was a helpful insight. Thank you for sharing.

In class they tell us that a lot of times they don’t have much info to provide you when they call but she was great! How did the first day go? I see your tree is up. Did the kiddos stay until Christmas?
Yeah, we’ve been really impressed with our county’s DCS here in Indiana. They came to us the 29th - right after Christmas! First day was rough- first week was rough! This Saturday or Sunday I plan to post a 2 week update detailing each day 😉

Be careful depending on agency they will not like this video. There is foster family that have lost placements for posting too much information on the children. I’m saying that because I’m a foster parent and I have seen families loosing kids because of this type of video. So delighted for you both, most importantly happy for the children. My parents fostered for 32 years. With 4 of us kids. We were a BIG happy family. Each one of us got attached to many. Hello as child that may go into foster care I have a question are most foster care people good or are a lot of abusive and using
Oh my goodness. Your comment breaks my heart for many reasons. I'm sorry you are in a situation where you may go into foster care.
And to answer your question, most foster parents are absolutely amazing! Foster parents have to go through a long process of background checks, house checks, health checks, paperwork, and training classes. The reason they want to be foster parents is to help provide a safe and loving home.
