Incase you were wondering about the songs meaning, and the music videos as well i’ll explain. The song is named Pompeii and talks about the tragic event that happened in 79AD in the city of Pompeii when the nearby volcano erupted and the city was covered with meters of ash and smoke. As the people of Pompeii tried to escape their inevitable death, some took shelter and prayed for one last time while being engulfed in flames. Body’s of people who lived in Pompeii are still being found to this day. As for the video the black eyes represent the ash, smoke, and chaos all around, as he tries to escape from pier agony until eventually he can’t run any longer.

Not to be the one that is a smart ass but that isn't quite what happened in Pompeii. The event went for a few days and the majority of people left before the volcano erupted. The ones which died were normally the caretakers of homes (basically surfs) which were told to wait and guard the house incase it was a false alarm (which had happened a few times in the past) and that once it settled down the population would return. Everyone just went to the city down the road which was on the ocean.
