SpongeBob is sleeping as he rolls over his bed and removes the blanket to reveal a hot rod. SpongeBob takes control and drives around the track for a test run. As SpongeBob praises his victory, he finds his drivers license in his pants. Plankton then rams SpongeBob, causing him to drop his license which is carried away by the ocean currents. With the help of Mrs. Puff, SpongeBob tracks down his license and challenges Patrick to a race. After winning (possibly), Plankton rams him again and destroys his hot rod. SpongeBob then searches for new hot rod parts and defeats a horde of thugs in his way. He then challenges Plankton and shows him who's boss, only to be rammed again, this time, by speed-king Gary. SpongeBob searches out for turbo drives to outfit his engine so he can challenge Gary to a final race. SpongeBob is triumphant and is proud to be the speed-king. However he failed to notice a pit ahead of him and accidently drives into the pit. - Hry

Gunsandglory1 Me too. My copy broke. I got a new copy and I still have it to this day. But sadly, I think it's time is coming to an end. The game is starting to glitch out. Belly Trouble: The graphics are grey squares, Diesel Dreaming and the rest crash the game.

It's the one I dread playing through due to its tediousness.
I also think the first level is also very boring (except the racing parts).
I felt like such a boss when I first completed that. After I completed it like 3-4 times I kept doing it to perfect it.

I had it on the Gamecube and Wii when I was 11 good old days...
GC and PS2 were the shit. I personally never had a PS2, but that generation of gaming was a simpler time. It was back when kids weren't trying to upload 6 man feeds on the latest call of duty. We were actually trying to beat the next level of zelda or If we wanted to socialize we could invite friends over and play super smash bros with our friends. Man do I miss those times.

In the levels where you race against Patrick, Plankton, and Gary, no matter how hard you try to speed up, you can never pass them.

I used to play this game when I was younger (around 2008); though my PS2 AC Adapter is missing and the game is broken...
So I use an emulator to play it on my PC which is not as different just more lag. Still Loved this game!!

Political Loopholes and I was right. This game is a prime example on how a TV show should be turned into a game. The only other game that's worth talking about is SpongeBob Battle for Bikini Bottom where you are playing against robots.

I remember playing this when I was six at my grandma's house. The segments where you use Patrick were my favorite.
I just noticed this little detail. In Motor Mirth, you can find the Manager Car from the SpongeBob Movie in the background. And it appeared in a dream too!
This is not only my favorite SpongeBob game, but my favorite game of all time. It's aged so incredibly well, and I can't deny how much fun and intuitive the entire game is. The gameplay is great, the graphics are great, the story is great, and I've never played anything better.
It has a 4.5 on IGN, which makes me really sad since this was basically my childhood game on the PS2. Even though I broke my PS2 and lost all my memory cards, I replayed it and replayed it. The weird thing is that with my broken PS2 some of my games wouldn't load or had entirely missing levels and just skipped, but this one kept going.
