I'm feeling pretty inspired to tackle one of these builds now. Not sure if I'll buy the Etsy files or see what the Quentin Q-Blower looks like when it's released. I'd probably paint it with Rustoleum Aluminium Silver, I get great results with that paint (and it dries surprisingly quickly). As far as drilling holes in prints, absolutely having high infill will help minimise cracking. Using a Step Bit really helps too, start small and work up to the final size so you're only trimming a few millimetres at a time (and stop occasionally to let the plastic cool down, especially if it's PLA). Great thing about drilling plastic is even those cheap $5 packs of Step Bits work perfectly.

I tried gradually enlarging the hole on the one that didn’t go well. On the keeper I used spade drill bits, which worked well to drill a small center hole then the outer edges. Being a rounded surface adds another degree of difficulty. I had no idea a Q-blower is in the works.

He's posted some updates but so far I think he's only released some of the brass fittings, it's still in the prototyping stage. It might end up looking identical to the Etsy one but might be faster to print (using some of Q's magic sauce for supportless printing).

Their,s also Polycarbonate which is the stuff that,s used in Safety Glass. And it,s 5times stronger than your standard 3D printed resin

Use PLA+, it’s more resistant to heat damage

I spray paint out my window, then let the piece dry inside. Made my whole pack that way, I have no patience lol
