- This is the first of the videos for my entry to the Talyllyn Railway's '#justlikeawdry' diorama challenge 2024. This video shows the creation of my model of Rheneas, which uses the 009 Bachmann Rheneas for the chassis, and Fourdees Dolgoch era 1 body.
Cheers

If they keep up the diorama challenge you’re going to end up with the whole Skarloey fleet eventually!
Yes quite right!
It looks very good. Especially by the size of the model you used. It looks like how Rheneas could've look like when the SR was struggling to stay afloat and Rheneas was the only engine in service
Cheers mate, just need those number plates to finish it off
@@GWilliamsonModels If you didn't told me I wouldn't have noticed. What's next? A MSR engine?
It's always fun seeing you do these dioramas for the challenge.
Realistic takes on these characters are always fun too, I love seeing how differently people choose to do them.
Some will give them the RWS colours, others go for the TVS, some will give them brass name and builder's plates, some will use decals.
Interested to see what image you've chosen to model in the next installment, although I have a sneaking suspicion I already know which one, I'll just have to wait and see lol
At this rate you'll have both the whole Tallylynn and Skarloey railway fleets in a few years time, well unless you decide to do multiple engines next time that is
Cheers mate. Yeah I wouldn’t mind doing them in TVS liveries, but they look great in RWS all weathered up.
The diorama video will follow for this Friday so keep an eye out for that!
Beautiful work! Really love the way it came up!
Cheers mate
Time to queue skarloey railway theme
I need to find a royalty free knock off version to use 😅
@@GWilliamsonModels InstrumentManiac has done a lovely version that is free to use so long as you credit, I used his version of Edward's theme previously on a repair video a few years ago and haven't had a problem
@@capmodesty thanks mate, I’ll look into that
That is a very nice way of making an unique locomotive, love the paint job and the detailed instruction that would be of great help if I ever get around building my own. Thanks for giving all the names and brands of paint you use, some are not familiar with me, and perhaps not available in North America. Super nice and I am looking forward seeing the diorama being made. Thanks!
Cheers! Glad the videos help you out
Excellent as always . Might have to get myself a kit
Cheers mate, yeah give it a go
Great work mate!
I’m thinking of making a diorama of super rescue
That’ll be fun!
This is one of your most beautiful models yet. Other than maybe Tom Rolt or Douglas. I would love to see merseysider to.
Thankyou mate. Yes Merseysider is on the cards to be built very soon
@@GWilliamsonModels very good
Amazing
Cheers!
I love your projects keep up the great work. You’re my favourite CZcamsr.
That’s amazing, thankyou so much!
@@GWilliamsonModelsno thankyou, every day you post it makes my day 10x better.
Hoping for a Sir Haydn/Falcon sometime soon 🤞
I’ve asked before and he can’t, there’s not a decent falcon body for the skarloey chassis.
Yes sir!
Fascinating as usual George and again I learn something new especially about painting figures.
Good to hear, I’m planning on a video to focus purely on figure painting very soon
@@GWilliamsonModels looking forward that one then
Very Happy to see Rheneas here he's my favirote from the Skarloey. I dont mutch care for the illustrations as the detail & conditions of the engines are all over the place, but whatever. Also many thanks for having a look at my Edward Thomas.
Cheers, yeah no problem, your no4 looks great!
Still I'm very grateful you've taken a peek. Now I've to model Tom Rolt.
NOT FUN? !! Wash your mouth out George!!😂
Does that Fourdees body do the earliest cabless ireration of The Old Lady? It looks as if it might. The chassis looks like a serious advance on the butchered Arnold 0-6-0 the old GEM (whitemetal) model used.
Hadn't heard of that Humbrol mask before, so big thanx for that one.
Why aren't "you" driving a loco "yourself" ... surely you've a couple of yous left?
Another very enjoyable and informative clip.👍
really cool cant wait for the rest of the locomotives to be done (no 3,no 4 ect)
Cheers, yeah it’ll be nice to have them all together
@@GWilliamsonModels cant wait
great model. as always. any reason he doesn’t have his no. 2 on the side?
Yes, you put in an order with light railway stores and tell me when you receive them 😅
Yes, they’ve been on order since may
@@GWilliamsonModels that makes sense. keep up the good work!!
I don't want to sound rude, but Rheneas is lacking his number. Other than that slight nitpick, he looks awesome!
The black wash really gives the model that realistic look, and the "shadowing" against the brass looks great, too!
Not a nitpick mate, it’s meant to have one, it’s been on order since May
@@GWilliamsonModels I see.
Did Skarloey have a number on his cab side? Just noticed that there isn't one on Rheneas here
I’m still waiting for the numbers to arrive, ordered quite a while ago and hoped to have had them for this build
7:17 btw Railway Mania sell Skarloey Railway name-transfers
I didn’t know that! Cheers
Could this be a cabless dolgoch if you fitted it that way? I might have to have a go myself….
Absolutely, easily done, and I’ve seen a few already
@@GWilliamsonModels ok that could be a cool project.
Will you be going to the awdry extravaganza?
I’m unsure at the moment, I haven’t been to one before, so thinking about it
@@GWilliamsonModelsit looks really cool. This will be my first as well. I believe there sold out of tickets for the special trains but you can still take a regular one and see the engines in RWS liveries at wharf.
@@Steam1937I’ve only been to last year’s and it was very fun. It’s basically a convention for Thomas fans
@@terrier_productions yeah and I’m really into the RWS and there looked like there was a lot there. Mostly going to see the models though. And it will be my first trip to the uk as a whole.
Will you planing do Sir haydn
Yes, as soon as Bachmann release their Sir Handel, I’ll be needing about three, if not four
@@GWilliamsonModels cuz if you know sir haydn is one of my favourite narrow gauge engine
did you forget his number?
No, it’s been on order for months
@@GWilliamsonModels Ah, should've known
What ruins the base model is that fat face from the later model series episodes.
Love the end result and the fireman reminds me a tad of my Uncle in his boiler suit and flat cap, may he rest in peace.
Yes you’re right, and that’s why it had to go 😅
@GWilliamsonModels we're both men of good tastes obviously 😅
