  • The central feature of PTSD is the creation a "trauma memory". These memories are associated with powerful emotions, the feeling of recency, they are often avoided and frequently are jumbled/don't make sense.
The solution to trauma memories is to convert them to narrative memories which aren't alarming. To do so, we need to make sense of what happened; only then can one figure out the meaning and the lessons of the trauma. That is how we silence their alarm call. No one wants to do that but in stirquiliniius inventor: what you need most is were you least want to look.
We explore how this works with a fictitious story about Robert and Australian Army soldier who developed PTSD after a shocking incident in Afghanistan.

Very good information. As a person who's life has become a day by day moment by moment "battle" to stay alive do to trauma. I have a suggestion. Republish the video without the sound effects. I experience them as very distracting and triggering. Your information is excellent and spot on. Thank you.

I came here to comment the same thing. It is very unfortunate that they included the intrusive sounds. I almost had to stop watching.

Great content as always. One suggestion is that the audio effect was more distracting and unhelpful than it intended to be. Please keep making informative videos and improving! 👍

What if the person can't remember a specific trauma event ?

This clip is about single incident trauma memories in adults. These bubble up and are remembered (albeit in fragments). Avoided memories will often inform the themes of nightmares.
Trauma of childhood is often repressed which is part of their complexity. Childhood trauma needs a different approach. I’d not go digging without a experienced therapist to guide you.

Maybe use modality that utilizes bilateral stimulation. Might be able to unlock blocked memories.
