Could you stick a felling wedge in the face cut on the opposite side you want the tree to swing to to accomplish the same result?
I really couldn't see what was accomplished
Not much
Just set proper hinge.
He made it fall a bit more to the left, instead of going directly straight in line with his first scarf cut
He could have just aimed it to the left in the first place
The swing dutchman requires a mismatched humbolt undercut so that theres a pad of wood on the compression side that holds the tree up and prevents it from going toward its lean once the kerf closes. I have a vid explaining the dynamics here.

Awesome! Priceless! Thank you Lumberjack for sharing. I'll definitly use this trick and already have some situations in mind...yeehaa!
Greetings from climbing arborist in Switzerland, Peter
Awesome Peter from Switzerland! Nice to hear from you
Jopas on Jounilla systeemit.
Russians are agressive criminals as seen in occupied Ukraine.

They're tricky enough without doing that
Now you going to get a barber chair
A toto je zas načo dobré ?
Well hell I thought you was going to do something
Fail to see what was achieved here with this complication of a cut. The tree could of been made to deviate far more with easier methods.
Or i have missed something here. Obviously you know what your doing, but what was the goal here ?
Just to show how the trunk behaves when cut like this
I watched my father do this on a tree that was bare limbed on one side and he wanted to turn it so he could fell it in the direction he wanted and limb it easier. Doesn't seem like 50 years ago.
Why would you want a treat to swizzle
Didn’t really make the tree swing though.
If you make your sizwheel cut following the same angle as your face cut, you are cutting into the vertical wood fibers that make the sizwheel effective. A better method is to make a vertical plunge cut where the angles of your face cut meet and then make the small angle cut from the horizontal plane of your face cut to complete the angle cut of the sizwheel. That way you have the maximum amount of vertical holding wood to ensure a successful sizwheel tree drop. Also, if you are finished cutting your back cut, get the hell out of there. Don't stand next to the tree waiting to see what will happen next. You could have cut more out of your back cut and the tree would have fallen immediately. Please clean up debris around the base of the tree you are cutting. I have seen other videos of yours where there are also branches on the ground covering your possible escape route. I'm beginning to think you are posting these incomplete videos just to try and sell $40.00 T-shirts. Tighten up your ship. People's lives are at stake here.
calm down Nancy no one died or got hurt no property destroyed, and incase you didn't notice he's not in pansyland safe space murika 😂😂 it's a youtube video NOT a training film, it's a guy showing how HE does things, nobody's life is at stake 😂😂 unless you're dumb enough to go doing a job you weren't trained for. hey but big box stores gotta sell chainsaws so idiots can attempt to save a few pennies for beer and netflix😂😂😂
I tend to agree, this tree really didn't "wheel" at all, it just fell the direction of the face cut as if the wedge wasn't made at all
Yep, don't follow the angle of your face cut when making the sizwheel cut, just go straight vertical into 1/2 of the diameter and about1/2 of the diameter (thrunk) in depth also. Sometimes I even make a second vertical (plunge) cut at where I will end my back cut, to make sure that side of the wood won't rip to fast and acts more as a spring before it snaps.
Jos sulla se "älä sahaa jalkaan" syteemi voimassa niiin mulla ois "pari vahinkoa mielessä". Turva kamat siis
I really didn't see it swing at all
