  • Early symptoms with psoriatic arthritis are important. People will complain of pain and swelling in their joints - hands, feet, wrists, etc. They may have a small patch of psoriasis or have psoriasis covering many areas of the body.
In this video, Dr. Orbai with the Johns Hopkins Arthritis Center discusses the signs and symptoms of Psoriatic Arthritis

I have moderate to severe guttate and scalp psoriasis since I was 2 years old. Then since I hit my 30s , nail (mostly only certain toenails and 1 thumb. they come up off the bed and have lost toenails a few times from it), inverse, and bad joint issues. Wish I could afford treatment. I had health insurance for a while and even with my ins. Humira (which was the only one the insurance would cover at all) was gonna be 900 bucks a month out of pocket. Not even possible. I gave up. I just survive in a world of pain pretty much. *shrug* It would be nice if the US could get it's crap together when it comes to affordable healthcare.

Weird that scalp psoriasis is most connected with psoriatic arthritis. I wonder why that is, but it explains why every time my scalp flares I get pain in my shoulder!

OMG I just left the ER for this and I look it up on you tube and I see you! I know you probably don’t know who I am, but I watch your videos and I am a sub! I had no idea we had that this in common🤯
      Hope you’re doing good💕

It's all to do with your immune system. If you get sick or extremely stressed it can cause flares all over. That happened to me when I got the flu last year. My psoriasis actually started to flare before i even showed symptoms i was sick. and then about halfway through being sick i started to get inflamed joints too. my scalp has never cleared up any since. its been absolutely terrible ever since.

      Uhm
..this should start with the small joints. Hands, fingers, toes, then elbows&knees. If you don't feel this, you may have an issue with something else. Not saying it didn't start here, but if I were you I would get a second opinion. Having psoriatic arthritis and psoriasis...my shoulders are the last thing that have ever hurt. My neck, or anything in my arms have NEVER HURT. It could be tendonitis for you.

She just described everything I have for psoriatic arthritis. It hit me all at once; can't hold a glass of water or walk without a limp. I'm shedding my scalp like a lizard. Helped me narrow down what kind of Doctor I should see,

I am going through the process of diagnosis for psoriatic arthritis. It started with peri anal psoriasis which was misdiagnosed and then moved to my scalp. Now have chronic fatigue, joint, muscle pain, sore eyes, minor joint inflammation but much pain. General feeling of being unwell too. All bloods sero-negative waiting for results of x-rays MRI and further bloods. Frustrated, exhausted, and in pain. My psoriasis on knees, lower legs, scalp, ears, and natal cleft has been a lot better since topical steroids and vit d ointment and scalp treatment but still itchy.

I'm 27 but I get the same, I have sciatica and was born with a kneecap that didn't fit right. Back pain is horrible had it before pregnancy, before an epidural. I've started noticing that too. Rainy days hurt my hips and joints especially right side. It wakes me up like a shock when I'm about to sleep

Is there any swelling and/or bruising on your hands or fingers? If so go to your doctor and he'll probably do blood tests and give you anti inflammatorys and maybe steroids depending on the severity.

Not always the case. Again, I've had the psoriasis since I was 6 months old I now mostly have a vegan diet, and it still doesn't help!!! Nutrition is NOT a cure for psoriasis for everyone. I now have Psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. With a good diet, I STILL have retained over 15% water weight without meds. If you do not have this condition, please don't comment that nutrition is the key. It's not always everything, and it isn't always overweight or underweight ppl who have it 😡🤬🙄
