I watched this show in the 70s and eighties and enjoyed it
I took my wife to Acapulco on the Love Boat over 30 ago, and now she passed away at 49 years old. They were filming, my hands got in a shot at the bar. Wonderful memories, but I would like to meet someone for new memories. It's been a painful 10 years.
How very lucky you've been. I know you will find love again. You just need to get out there. We were made for love. This was my most favorite show of all. Anyone who loves the Love Boat is a good egg. Best wishes ❤

It was televised twice. Once in 1990 & later it was re titled to A Summer Voyage. The movie wasn't great. If only the rest of the original cast would have returned.

Since Spelling’s exclusive contract with ABC ended in 1989, he produced this movie for CBS.
I wish they had done multiple reunion movies after the show was over, but preferably on ABC. I know this technically counts, but doesn't quite feel like the original show. There will never be another series quite like this one with every episode being a cavalcade of celebrities.

Same here. This movie should have not been made. It was silly. Gopher & Julie were missing. When it was first televised on CBS it was titled A Valentine Voyage. The second time it was called A Summer Cruise. It just wasn't the same but I still enjoyed the TV series especially the cast.

That's because it was a tv movie on CBS 3 years after their last 4 3hour episodes in 86-87.
I watched this show in the afternoon and I was very impressed by the fact that the went back to the hotel in barbarous to get on with his life.
And say goodbye to his wife Emily,Vicki wanted him to go on but it is very hard to say goodbye to someone who you. Love ❤
usually i watch sci-fi movies like aliens predators,robots fighting in space ,but at the same time there a few dramas from the past mostly that iv watched and this series happens to be one of them...

If CBS decides to sail the Love Boat, again for a 2 hr. made for television movie, Jill Whelan should be cast as Commander Vicki Stubing, leading a crew that would include Isaac's niece as bartender/ship officer and Doc's grandson as ship medic. More fitting, dedicate the movie to Gavin MacLeod!!!

Julia Duffy was pregnant in real-life when she filmed this movie, her character’s husband, Arnold, the ship’s cook, is played by Duffy’s real-life husband Jerry Lacy. Unfortunately, the baby Julia was carrying here, her son, Danny, committed suicide in 2019 at age 29.

I had zero idea that this movie even existed! lol Feels like some alternate dimension. Different network. No Gopher or Julie. The presence of Roddy Piper, someone I would have never in a million years associated with a show like this. And this being on CBS explains the casting since several of these actors were on popular CBS shows at the time: Ted Shackelford (Knots Landing), Julia Duffy (Newhart), Joe Regalbuto (Murphy Brown), and Shanna Reed (Major Dad). Some of these actors were probably guest stars on the ABC show, too.
I am watching the valentine voyage again . I am glad that Captain Stubbing went back to the hotel 🏨

Man, could you imagine a "Piper's Pit" with Capt. Merrill Stubing as a guest??? Piper would probably question Capt. Stubing's credentials by accusing him of not knowing what "Heave ho" means aboard ship. Knowing Roddy Piper, he probably would think that "heave ho" was when somebody was seasick and had eaten too much ho. I miss Rowdy Roddy Piper!

They did but they brought her back in the final season, and for the three two-hour specials they did the season after the show ended. I don’t know why she wasn’t here - presumably they asked her. Fred Grandy was in Congress at this point so he wasn’t going to do it.

1st time viewing, NEVER saw THIS one before >> SPOILER ALERT
I watched the Love Boat from when it started in 1977 and although I saw the characters grow and develop, I still prefer the series before Julie and Gopher left. To me, as an original fan, this was a sad and somewhat embarrassing ending to a great series. I wish they had made it differently.
Well Julie (Lauren Tewes) didn't really leave. She had a HUGE cocaine problem and was sort of blackballed as an actor.

No, most of the original cast (minus Goph 😢) were in the premiere episode of The Love Boat: A New Wave in the early 2000s. I’m confused however, because I could SWEAR Emily was there… but I can’t find it on CZcams or anywhere to confirm.

I wish I had seen this last episode of The Love Boat, when it was new. If I had, I would have written to the producers about what a terrible script this episode had, and how the director obviously had no idea about who these characters are/were.
This show was a staple in my childhood and I’m sure many others also. I “knew” these characters and how they were portrayed, back when it was a weekly series. The characters I learned to love, were no where to be seen in this episode (except Issac).
And to make things worse, past characters that were not on this one, weren’t even mentioned.
Back in the original series, when Lauren Tewes was let go from the show, “Julie” was said to have gotten married. It gave us viewers closure.
She came back for a couple of specials, but gone again in this one. No explanation, nothing. The same is true for Ace, photographer, then Purser. He’s not there, and no explanation for this either.
When a show was on as long as The Love Boat, people get into the characters. To not even mention the ones missing is an insult to the fans.
Julie could have been working with Vicki at the travel agency. Ace could have moved to a different ship. I did appreciate the Emily story. I’m glad she wasn’t just a “dream”.
The change in characters ~
• The way Vicki treated her dad in the storyline was not how the original Vicki would have behaved. She would have understood why he didn’t want to go. She kept saying that she wanted her dad back. He was still there.
• Capt. He wouldn’t have needed to go to the hotel for closure. He would have said goodbye at Emily’s service. But he wasn’t behaving badly.
• Doc…he was a shadow of his former self. No confidence in himself?? Come on!!!
• Issac was the only character that was even close to the original. He got promoted which he deserved in the original anyway.
So I’m saying…SHAME on the writers, the director(s) and the producer - Aaron Spelling is gone now. But he wasn’t at the time of this episode. He should have been the first person to say, WAIT A MINUTE. ETC ETC ETC
So right I mean I think the biggest problem is it's missing the humor it's missing the fun and when the new characters weren't even there at all there's no Purser at all I mean it's missing that element it's missing too much and it wasn't filmed very well much of the filming that was done wasn't always done on board the ship it was done off in a lot probably at one of the film studios probably Paramount's film studio and maybe that's the problem it's missing the professionalism that was behind it the actors okay but they're not great and he can missing the greatness and the greatness that they're missing is because the script Is Not Great and the filmy is even worse and my guess is they went along with this because they got paid and they also were getting to go to these places and have some fun and as I recall the one who played gopher mention that can make time to have with his kids who are young when he was filming the Japanese scenes he had to arrange for somebody to bring them along just so that they could be together during the off time for filming. So maybe this was a way of tying up loose ends or even seeing if the waters are still out there to bring it back me personally I think it was too soon to bring back I think now with the new cast and crew you could probably start it all over from scratch they'd have to have really good actors and I don't know if there any really good actors left anymore are who are capable of pulling it off so that it would be believable.
It wasn't an episode though. It was a tv movie 3 years after 86-87 season.
