Loads of well-known youtuber have been exposed for taking a deal like this in the past, so it will continue to happen in the future. I used to work for agencies in Chicago. One time a "millionaire " from China wanted to promote some obscure Chinese sport and gave out $100 tips everywhere he went. The agency owners had high hopes and were able to book a few TV and radio appearances for him. There were warning signs throughout and luckily we were never able to agree on a long-term contract. Often the smaller agencies were naive and just did not have experience dealing with these types of things.
