IGNEA - Seytanu Akbar // Composer Reaction Song Breakdown // The Decomposer Lounge
So glad Ignea are getting come exposure. Great band, from Ukraine I think...
ye ukraine
I had never heard this band b4. thanks for introducing them to us
What an absolute treat to see you discover Ignea. Your surprise that little smile you gave shortly after the growls started was priceless. The official video for Jinnslammer is another fun one when you are ready to revisit them. Lovely reaction Geebz!
If you want more IGNEA, their song Disenchantment is really good, in my opinion more mid eastern vibes and an amazing video
Love that song 😁
I definitely concur :)
Strapping young Lad - Almost Again Please react to this you will love it. some amazing guitar work, an unbelievable vocal performance from Devin Townsend and some of the best metal drumming there is and my favourite groove of all time!
@Big Homie Steve The Metal Head yeah just feel everyone reacts ro love or aftermath so thought he'd like almost again
Yay! So glad you found Ignea. One of my favorite bands. I would suggest "Alga" for you next listen. They are accompanied by an orchestra on that song.
Great Find!!!! Thanks Geebz for bringing this to the channel.
What up GeebZ! ALOHA. All new bands this week. Opening things up. 🤙
You and the charmatic voice are my two favourite music analysts. I've learnt so much from both of you. Thank you, I didn't realise how much I enjoy music theory until I discovered you both.
Have a great day everyone.
Thank you for this reaction! I really love this band that deserves more recognition for sure! Please watch Disenchantment
Very cool that you go over this song just after I commented in another video that reminded me of them. Love your enthusiasm and open-mindedness. Pretty sure the first song of theirs I heard was "Alga" - the music video on CZcams shows the orchestra playing some of their part of the song, worth a watch.
I believe Ignea was the number 1 rock band in Ukraine before the war started. They should have been if not, as they are a really talented band, especially with their singer. Another song worth checking out, and has real meaning with the war going on is their first video Alga, recorded with an orchestra - it will surprise you. It was written back in 2014 in response to Russia taking over Crimea. May Ukraine kick Russia's ass out of their country, so life can return to normal, and this incredible band can continue their music. And all Ukrainian's may get their lives back. Thank you so much for taking the time to review this band. They are an original band, and play and sing as real musicians ought to.
Nice reaction. Ignea has a great catalog. Try more.
Eluveitie Rebirth!! I am new here but have been watching and liking alot everything of yours I watch, subscribed and enjoying myself here. This band is a Gaulish Folk Metal band that has reconstructed the Gaulish language with the help of linguistic scientist and college authorities on the subject, alot of the basis of their songs are old folk tunes.
Would love to see a review of Tame Impala!!!
Yeah I'm also on board with Tame Impala. Let It Happen would be cool since it's got fun production.
I second that! I'd love a reaction to Runway Houses Cities Clouds
Should check out Ignea- Alga. Great song and nice orchestra in the beginning
Their song Alga is symphonic metal which is how I ran into them. I love that HEAVY groove of this song. Seytanu Akbar (Satan is Greater) is probably my favorite of their songs. Jinnslammer is another song that has a fair amount of growling.
so glad to see you react to them!
Damn, that hit hard. Thanks for for the new band to check out!
Napalm just signed them. Max Morton (Jinjer) produced this record. Will undoubtedly produce the next one under Napalm. He's become the Devin Townsend of Ukraine.
Wow, never heard of them and they are from my country!
My favourite Middle Eastern-metal band is Orphaned Land, they're a little lighter than these ones. The Cave is a very wide scoped song with a lot of different sounds.
I second the Orphaned Land pick to react but have to say that maybe last albums are lighter but early ones were quite heavy - favorite overall would be Mabool that had some heavy growls and guitars.
Yes I'm going to their show in 6 days
There is a Indian classical/metal fusion band called Mute The Saint. Might be worth checking out.
Oh and check out Myrath, a band from Tunisia in north Africa. They have middle eastern influences galore.
You must dive into Cradle of Filth soon. Nymphetamine would be a great song to start with.
actually I think Bathory Aria from Cruelty and the Beast is a better starting point. :)
can't hear them referenced without thinking of noel fielding's character from the i.t. crowd.
Bathory Area was my first idea for Geebz too, and was a personal favourite in my "soundtrack of life" as he says :)
But Nymphetamine is of course brilliant, and more accessible.
I've just listened to Bathory Aria again, for the first time in years. Threw me back to my school days. Thank you guys.
Great track, going to do a deep dive into their discography. Aviations, Outliers. Please!
Did not know about this band. Should check them out.
You should definitely check Ophaned Land if you want more Middle Eastern Prog Metal, they're legends!
Otherwise: Dir En Grey - Vinushka :)
I Think you would appreciate this .Sigur Ros - Sæglópur
For middle Eastern metal, like listen the band Myrath you'll like it :
Absolutely Myrath. I recommend Believer/Duat/Endure the Silence/Under Siege/Monster in My Closet, but you can't go wrong with most things.
Also Melechesh!
"Disenchantment" has a catchy melody and a great video. A must see before you give up on IGNEA. My fave song and video of 2020.
First time listening to this band, REALLY IMPRESSIVE going in my playlist for sure😈🤘growl reminds me of Loren from Once Human
This band sounds banging
Great track decomposing, as always!
Leaving here some tracks I wish to see next!
Ayreon - The Day that the World Breaks Down
Dream Theater - Octavarium and/or A Change of Seasons
Kamelot - Elizabeth (I, II & III)
Haken - The Architect, Crystallised and/or Visions
Opeth - The Drapery Falls
Steven Wilson - Luminol
Symphony X - The Divine Wings of Tragedy and/or The Odyssey
Ignea is incredible, and in those times they need ever more love
Queen Dies is another one of my favourites from Ignea, highly recommend checking it out.
I also recommend Avatarium - Road to Jerusalem, it has a similiar kind of vibe.
Try some sigur ros. Band from iceland. So beautiful
Pantera: Cemetery Gates would be a cool introduction to PANTERA
Totaly
Love this band. Your emotions really fun
Please make video about TEREN band
Please do Pantera - Cemetery Gates !
yes
I love a metal band with a female vocalist. For a moment I was getting Lacuna Coil vibes.
Can you check out Jahi too? It samples a song called "Gönül" by Turkish singer "Fikret Kızılok". When i first heard it it caught me off-guard :)))
Wow they have such a clean sound I love it...great review 👍 Check out Lacuna Coil their latest album is very similar to this!
Lacuna Coil was my first thought from this one too!
If you're entering this rabbit hole (Middle Eastern bands), you should check Myrath. I would suggest "Nobodys' lives". I tried to paste you a link to their official channel, but I got blocked... :/ Because the "Kashmir" sound you were expecting here, probably you will find it with Myrath ;)
This band is so good....go watch the raw live performance
Like the T-Shirt
This song deals with the darker side of Islam - terrorism. She primarily sings, but when their songs deal with darker subjects is when she does the "growling" with her voice - for lack of a better term. You are correct about the buttery smooth nature of her singing. I never could come up with that. But I think her voice is quite unique, and kinda reaches out and pulls you in to the song.
The beginning reminds me a lot of Silver for Monsters, only in a different key
I'd love for you to check out sometime is the band Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Their music is all instrumental, often with field recordings, interviews, poetry, etc. in place of vocals. Their songs are very long which might not quite work for your videos but some I'd recommend are Sleep, East Hastings, and Blaise Bailey Finnegan III
this band is a gem.hellas growl is superb and she has several "tones" or techinc to achieve the pleasant overall sounding with the lyrics addnd the story..in this song she growl as angela gossow (melissa cross school) did.SHE was a beast in arch enemy and Hella IS a beast too.but she is also a many faced beast, and as the beast she is a many faced storyteller and alngelic being in her clean voices.a very humble and very talentful band!i recommend after this the QUEEN DIES song. ;)
I dont know how keen you are on longer songs, but an amazing journey that i thoroughly recommend would be Buckethead's 'Hold Me Forever', even if you dont do a reaction video to it, it's still well worth a listen
Please check out Sylosis, a thrash/death metal band from Reading, England and a long-time favorite of mine. They do excellent work, and in particular are notable for the incredible riff writing of Josh Middleton, who does the vocals and co-lead guitar, as well as the fact that, until their latest album, all their songs used guitars tuned to E Standard, which is highly unusual in modern metal. I struggle to recommend just a single song from them, so instead, I'll give you a song from each album and you can pick the one you think is the most interesting :)
Album - Song - Year - Notes - Link
Cycle of Suffering - I Sever - 2020 - Only song I've listed tuned to D Standard instead of E, includes my favorite vocal performance in this list - czcams.com/video/dZDd-MwuvcM/video.html
Dormant Heart - Servitude - 2015 - Manages to get some interesting perception of speed despite its tempo - the fastest-feeling part of the song has the slowest tempo and vice versa - czcams.com/video/9_RT0G4wWKg/video.html
Monolith - A Dying Vine - 2012 - Probably the song I've listened to the most times on this list, main riff is blazing fast and the vocals that accompany it are very quick as well, which is all the more impressive when considering that they're done by the same person at the same time. Changes significantly over its duration, particularly in emotion. - czcams.com/video/4Uol-vZNAt4/video.html
Edge of the Earth - Procession - 2011 - Strongest "groove" out of this list, and has my favorite intro and main riff in the list as well - czcams.com/video/Iz6xlrLKd4M/video.html
Conclusion of an Age - Last Remaining Light - 2008 - From before Josh took over the vocal role; in my opinion the old vocalist wasn't as good as him, so I don't listen to this album much, but the solos in this song are amazing and I still find it a joy to listen to. - czcams.com/video/hMARq1y0PvY/video.html
If you love that Middle Eastern sound, you'd LOVE The Tea Party! I highly recommend their song Sister Awake as a great place to start
I love your reaction videos, Comfortably numb is my favourite, your reactions and faces almost mirror how I feel listening to it. Do David Essex ‘oh what a circus’ or Barbara Streisends ‘woman in love’ or Zappas ‘sofa’ ....I wouldn’t mind betting you are familiar with and like them,. As you definitely know Zappa was a composer genius and probably my all time favourite artist. Keep doing what your doing . Btw...dude the sax player in Clown core, beautiful, search up their other work he’s (Louis Cole) a mad drummer, not sure about the sax guys name.
Music is the best. (F.Z.)
Eluveitie - Rebirth reaction please .. incredible folk metal
I would love to see you react to "Destroyer" by Inferi. Easily one of my all time favorite songs, and an inspiration to me as a guitar player.
Melechesh is another middle eastern metal band. Genies, Sorcerers, and Mesopotamian Night: czcams.com/video/fiNT_Ak30RE/video.html :-)
Also, I thought coffee was generally (exceptions apply) supposed to be hot. :-D
Thank you for another great decomposition!
Aloha. Have you listened to puscifers version of bohemian rhapsody? I'd love to get your take of the differences and whose better in the song freddy or maynard.
I'd like to request that you take a dive into Coheed and Cambria. I'd highly recommend the Willing Well songs played in one or two sittings. We love your content!
Kamelot - Memento Mori
Dream Theater - Space Dye Vest
Yes to Kamelot! While on it, check Conception as well :)
hey love your channel. iam a huge nightwish fan and i know you like them. the band epica is a similar band as nightwish and i just listened to their song kingdom of heaven 3. it may be one of the most epic rollercoaster of a song i have ever heard. you need to check it out.
apparently this band is from Ukraine. the singer looks a bit like chelsea wolfe to me. chelsea wolfe - feral love ( not this one but another song by chelsea wolfe was featured in game of thrones , it's dark medieval industrial metal vibe stuff )
You should check out the song "Travel" by " From Autumn to Ashes"
Death- Sacred Serenity..... Trust me
The Funky Knuckles "Mystery Song", the ultimate jam
Please check out Crack of Light by Vintersea. :)
Check out “Themata” by Karnivool. Has elements of the same mode and an amazing song as well. I’m sure it’s been requested before 🤪🤘
Myrath - Nobody's Lives
Please review time the valuator starseeker, i think you will really enjoy it
If you enjoyed that, you might like the song Do You Call My Name by a US nu metal band called Ra. They also do a metal cover of Every Little Thing She Does is Magic that is phenomenal. Really unique lead vocalist who wanted a band that was cross between Metallica and The Police.
Aeternam - Al Qassam actual song that's sung in arabic
I need that intro Geebz! Also check out Haggard - Per Aspera Ad Astra - czcams.com/video/BSFEv9eaoh4/video.html . They are a german symphonic metal musical group founded in 1989 and is made of 17 artists and more. Their third album Eppur Si Muove which is about the life of Italian scholar Galileo Galilei, sentenced to house arrest for heresy by the Catholic Church for supporting Copernicus' claim that the Earth revolved around the sun.
React to Carach Angren- These Fields Are Lurking
I might be in the minority with this suggestion, but with the female fronted metal bands I've seen on here, might I suggest Concrete by Poppy?
I would love him to react to Poppy lmao
The middle eastern heavy stuff certainly has a distinct twang to it. The clearest example of that is probably Melechesh from Jerusalem.
Their track Gyroscope is pretty fun. It's more pedal to the metal though ;)
Another Middle East band to watch is Kamaera from Lebanon .
The song was good considering this isn’t my type of music. I would like to see you review and listen to wordless chorus by my morning jacket because I know that song will be added to your personal playlist. Also you my as well do every Radiohead song since they are the best band of all time and I wouldnt mind seeing you also review and listen to only so long by French kicks. Your the best Geebz. I appreciate all that you do and keep up with the awesome reactions. It’s a blessing to see you smile✨
The Internet says they're Ukranian... just saying (FYI I have nothing against "The Middle East" actually a bit disappointed this didn't come from that region) ... besides I kinda love what you (Geebz) do ;)
Please react to candiria channeling elements
if you need more middle eastern metal you can't go wrong with Orphaned Land
Brian Jonestown Massacre - Straight Up and Down.
Porcupine Tree - Russia On Ice
Steven Wilson - The Holy Drinker
Camel - Lady Fantasy
Camel - Nimrodel
Agalloch - In The Shadow Of Our Pale Companion
Pantera - Cemetery Gates
Masterpieces
Yes...Holy Drinker!
Whoa, that opening groove and riff had me bouncing in my chair, kickass band.
Hey GEEBZ since you dig the enchanting Middle Eastern and Tarab vibes I would highly recommend Maneesh de Moor, that dude is a soundscape wizard. This is one of my favorites of his: czcams.com/video/QdmRFRtumYc/video.html
If you're interested in Middle Eastern metal then I highly recommend Melechesh.
For other completely different sounding middle eastern metal try yossi sassi band & orphaned land
This makes me think you should check out "Outcry" by Dream Theater. A song about the People's revolution in Egypt in 2013. I'd also encourage you to check out "Three Days" also by Dream Theater as there's a ton to decompose for a four minute track.
System of a down are probably as close as you got with their Armenian heritage sound.
Loving that hard left before the first hook 👌
Sweet guitar tone too, similar to slipknot vol3 album.
They girls got some growl 👌
Geebz you have to check deathklok-awaken
ELDER dead roots stirring
Potions by PUSCIFER on the recycle ♻️
ROCK CANDY FUNK PARTY.great band for you. Awwlright
I am still here
I'm actually surprised no one mentioned real "middle eastern metal" bands, the most known of them I guess being Myrath. Blending of the western metal with the traditional instruments and techniques, including microtones - that's what I would call the mideastern metal. Just hear the difference: czcams.com/video/4K0AyZ_wjik/video.html
DEATH - BITE THE PAIN
please react on this one 🙂❤
That low scream/growl is done with very poor technique. I know because I used to do it and screws up your throat, but it does allow you to pitch the scream/growl a tad. Just did a quick google for some live footage of this song, and she's shifted to a much healthier technique in those, which is great to hear :)!
Freedom of fear - consciousness of misery please
How about a Clutch song?? The Face would be a good 1...
Bodom After Midnight - Paint the Sky With Blood
"Seytanu Akbar" means "Satan is (the) great(est)". Like "allahu akbar" means "God is (the) great(est)".
They also released a instrumental namesake version of this album, one year later.
I looked up the lyrics to see what the song was about considering Akbar is in the title. The lyrics alone are confusing probably due to translation, but i did see this comment by the Composer "“What we want to say is that there is no reasonable cause to kill other people, be it regime, faith or moral principles. We mainly speak about islamic terrorism in this song, as one of the social plagues of 21st century, taking lots of innocent lives. However, this applies to every human on Earth, regardless of their religion.” -Evgeny Zhytnyuk, composer and author of lyrics
WEEN
For something different how about:
Bon Iver (Bone Eev Air) Beth/Rest
Novo Amor: Anchor
Sufjan Stevens: Should’ve Known Better
Another middle eastern band with checking out (Israeli) is Orphaned Land.
Can you react to a new band called Plush? They’re like if Metallica were 4 teenage girls
Max Morton does the engineering for Ignea and Jinjer in Kyiv, Ukraine
