During our recent travels to San Diego, CA, we spent much of one day on Coronado Island. Tied to the mainland by a thin strip of sand, this resort city has much that attract tourists and locals alike. We will show you just some of the things we enjoyed about our visit to Coronado. This includes a tour of Coronado Island's most famous site, the historic Hotel del Coronado. Join us as travel through Coronado and find out why Wizard of Oz author L. Frank Baum once wrote in a poem about Coronado Island:
“And every day her loveliness, shines pure, without a flaw;
new charms entrance our every glance, and fill our souls with awe!”

Great tour of Coronado Island. Love the view of the bridge from your hotel room. The beach is so beautiful. I would love to go paddleboarding in that water. Amazing how expensive some of the hotels are. I enjoyed all the wonderful views and information. Have a great day.
We really did enjoy our day traveling through Coronado Island. The Hote del Coronado really is very expensive. We will probably never stay there but enjoyed checking it out. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment!
There used to be Captain Coronado's Trading Company store near the ferry boat landing. It was a nice place to get Coronado Islands clothes.

Yes, Hotel del Coronado is very expensive. But you really can see where the Grand Floridian got its exterior look when you see this place. This was a great island to explore. The beaches are beautiful and are food tasted as good as it looks. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
I've never even heard of Coronado Island, it looks fantastic....and I'd love to get there with a brunch cruise! Yum. I'll have to put this on the list for when we make it to San Diego. I have learned so much about the area from you all! You are right about that view...amazing. Wow! Beautiful hotel....and I can see where the Grand Floridian got its look.
We took the bridge over to Ocean avenue and plopped ourselves on the beach in front of the beautiful hotel for most of the day. Great and informative video. Thanks for sharing

Amazing video! Your channel highlights so many amazing places that I have never thought about visiting before, but do now. The hotel is absolutely stunning, but I don't think I'm willing to part with $1k or even $700 per night for a hotel room. Still, it looks like an experience.

We loved Conorado Island and Hotel Del. Its association with "Some Like It Hot". it what I loved about the hotel. We visited this Hotel in 2015. The beach is lovely. Great episode, thank you for the tour Alice and Jack. 👍🏽🙏🏽🤗

Love Coronado. Cold Stone is the best! The hotel is magnificent. Lots of history at the Coronado. As if the rate wasn't high enough they have to add a resort fee.
Yeah, it takes some audacity to tack on a $50 per night resort fee when you are charging a thousand dollars a night. There is a parking fee too if you bring a vehicle with you. Maybe one day we will have monty to burn like that but today is not that day. It is a really lovely hotel with a cool history so I am glad we got to spend some time exploring it. And we got some Cold Stone too! Thanks for watching and commenting!

We loved visiting Coronado Island. Kayaking would be fun. We hung out on the beach near the hotel a couple hours but if we ever go back, I would want to kayak through the bay. We enjoyed your tour of Coronado Island very much Jack and Alice. The ferry landing area looked nice with lovely views of the San Diego skyline. But the Coronado Hotel was gorgeous and has so much history. Ghosts too if you believe the stories! But alas, your right about the prices to stay. We won't be staying there anytime soon either. But loved wandering around with you! Thanks so much for bringing us along.
Coronado Island really is a lovely area. We had a great time exploring the island and enjoying the beach. It would be awesome to stay in that hotel. But even if we could easily afford it, I think we'd be hesitant to spend that much on a stay when there are some very nice hotels in the area that cost less than half as much. But it was very cool to see it in person and take in all the history of it. Thanks so much for watching and for taking the time to comment!
Love the island bridges and ferry. Looks like a fun place to spend the day, and their food looked amazing. Centenial Park is really pretty and overlooks the bay. NICE! Pretty sure we'd be tempted to rent bikes to see the island. The Victorian is gorgeous. We would definitely be hanging out at the beach.
We had a great day on Coronado Island. There was so much to see and do there. We really did enjoy the beach that afternoon. Weather in the San Diego area is so perfect. The water was still a little chilly. But seeing that historic up close was a great highlight. Thanks so much for watching and for taking the time to comment!

Hey guys that was a great narrated tour , loved it, and if I visited there I would definitely go on to the beach , eat the beer battered fish for lunch and then visit the sandcastle man before hiring a bike to tour the place and end up at the volleyball court before dinner . There's so much choice of what to do ! Thanks for taking us along :) ~ Anna

It looks like the ferry is for passengers only, not vehicles. Can you manage on the island without a car? I have a lot of anxiety going over some bridges.
The ferry is for passengers only. From the ferry drop off point to Hotel del Coronado on the opposite side of the island is less than two miles so I guess it is walkable technically. But round trip would be just under 4 miles which is a bit of a hike. You have two other options... one is there is a trolley tour of San Diego. It is a hop on/hop off trolley where you pay for a day and there are 12 destinations you can choose to hop off and on at. Hotel del Coronado is one of those destinations. So if you just want to see the beach and the historic hotel, the trolley can get you there. The other way to get there involves driving and no bridges. There is actually a road along the sandy isthmus that connects Coronado "Island" to the rest of San Diego. That road is CA-75 N. We did not drive that way because the bridge saves time. But if you want to have your car with you and avoid the bridge, you can drive the long way around the bay since the "island" is connected to California by land. However you get there, I hope you get to visit San Diego some day after having such a bad experience on your previous visit. Thanks as always for your support, Heather!
It is weird that you have o wait until minute 10 to hear about the beach.
Save your money then and then opt for a rental home . Every thing is within walking distance, even the Hotel Del.
