  • Time to replace my broken spotties.
    Its a perfect chance to upgrade to something decent; Stedi Type-X Pro LED driving lights.
    Thought I'd film an unboxing, install and some initial testing of them. I'll keep you all posted on how they go in the future (I'm confident they'll last a bloody long time).
    Cheers,

    Yes did exactly the same, kings 2 years had them on Flinders trip one fell off and the other the steel bracket snapped. Got my eye now on Stedi for reliability and good vision with no vibration.

    Great review. I just replaced Kings 7" lights with a set of these love them. The Kings lights had massive interference and wiped out my am and faint fm stations when they were on. These Stedi lights have the quality suppression of a more expensive light. Recommend them.

    I've been looking at these for ages now - still a stefi $220 light bar which is 4 years old now and still working perfectly so can't quite justify it yet but the pro X will be the next set. Stefi are simply amazing build quality for the price. Have a 32" king's bar in the roof and it's not bad (cos it was free with a VMS) for spread - that combined with the 22" stedi spot)spread bar does the job well for the price

    Have had these on a week and first night I had them i did a perth to albany run which once set correctly proved an impressive test. Have been doing alot of driving at night all week and can't compliment them enough especially with a side by side comparison to my mates kings ones. Bloody stoked with these I love how clear the light is even 1k or so away can still see clear as

    Nice review. Hoping to get some on the front of my Jeep XJ soon. In America the main three light brands are baja designs, rigid and KC. Baja designs have great lights but they cost 900 per light. Rigid is just as expensive. KC makes an affordable light, but they don't put out anything close to what the others do. I only wonder how the Stedi will do in cold climates were they use a lot of salt on the roads.

      @@ryangrayson5289 measure twice, drill once! A smaller pilot hole first (like a 1/8) will help your drill bit from wandering. A dob of grease works well to lubricate the bit, and collect the metal filings- can just wipe it all off when you're done. Give it all a wipe over with spirits afterwards. And if you've got a can of any color paint in the shed- spray a bit into the cap, and use a small paint brush, your finger or a ear bud to paint around the raw edges of the holes to seal the steel from rusting (if it's a steel bar. If it's aluminium don't worry about it!).

    • @WildTouring
      @WildTouring  Před 2 lety

      Certainly not my area of expertise. If it’s yours then feel free to fire away with some helpful information.
      My understanding is that an IP66 rated item is rated to withstand 3mins of 100lpm of water at 100kpa through a 12.5mm nozzle from 3ms away.
      IP68 is rated item is rated to withstand submersion to 3ms for a lengthy period.
      Maybe my wording in the video was incorrect, I guess I’m suggesting that the IP68 rating is the highest RELEVANT rating for what a set of spotlights may be subject to on a 4x4.

    • @florisvandenhoeven3729
      @florisvandenhoeven3729 Před 2 lety

      @@WildTouring , the test are different in a way that one is a spray test and the other one is a submersion test. IPx7 has a fixed depth and time.. however, IPx8 does not have a fixed time and depth which means the manufacturer has to specify this. If not specified, it can even be same a IPx7.
      The reason why I mentioned that IPx6 could be more important is that a focused spray could dislodge rubber sealings which IPx8 would not do because of the equal pressure. For the company I work for, we usually perform and mention both the submersion and spray testing. So if you are not intending to dive for half an hour with your car.. then IP66 rating could be more beneficial...
      By the way, sorry if I sounded negative.. was not my intention!
