    YESSSS! Paper tape is used in hospitals for sensitive and geriatric skin. (Not nearly as sticky as the plastic tape that stays on for life or takes your skin off with it) 😂 However, the hospital only used vintage/tea stain color. PERFECT!! I must have over 100 half used rolls that’ve come home in my scrubs over the years! NOW they have a purpose other than jamming my junk drawer! Beautiful idea!! Danke!

    Great ideas! I wasn't going to watch this at first because I thought "embossing" would never be possible for me to do. However, you've shown me that I could do it, and in unique ways. Thank you!

    I've seen a few tutorials on how to make washi and this is my favorite. I love that the tape is sort of translucent. You could do a ton of different things with this in photoshop. Great idea.

    Stamping suppliers, such as Simon Says Stamp, sell "anti-static tools & powder" to help with the problem of embossing powder sticking where you don't want it. I also rub a dryer sheet over the area prior to inking and it usually works well. Hope that helps - LOVE your style, Nik!

    • @NiktheBooksmith
      @NiktheBooksmith  Před 6 lety +1

      oh thats genius, Abby! will have to try the dryer sheet trick ;)

    • @annecasillas5402
      @annecasillas5402 Před 6 lety +10

      Abby Stone you can make your own by taking a small piece of cotton fabric putting a few teaspoons of corn or potato starch in the center, drawing up the sides, wrap a rubber band around to close off powder and us it in a pouncing motion on all papers before stamping. One ink or embossing powder is dry, any residue brushes away and leave you with a sharp inked image :)

    Thanks!! Great idea! I had some left over tape so played around with it. I don't have much in the way of the stamp pads so I used stencils and acrylic paint. Am going to try my Bombay inks, too. Experimented with various pens and markers. You can write quotes on them as well. Add a little metallic gold and antique varnish sparingly over the top and tada!! I attached the parchment paper to a large piece of heavy watercolor paper for support, but took the whole parchment paper with tape and rolled it up for storage once it is completely dry. This works great. VERY FUN!!! You have such wonderful ideas. I really enjoy your videos which are down to earth, funny, and very entertaining, not to mention informative. :-)

    Love your suggestions and this one for sure because I've been doing this for a long time !! The medical tape is awesome for lots of crafting. I do mixed media and it's great for adding texture to your pages and great of course for making your own tape, can be painted also. Thanks Nik ..

    I have really been enjoying these crafty tutorials, Nik! I bought rolls of 1/2" Micropore Tape on ebay and did a lot of the experimenting you did. I love my tape. Micropore also makes a tan tape in 1/2" and 1" width but it is too expensive for my blood at $9.80 for 2 X 1" rolls (Free Shipping). Dirty your white up with smeared Vintage Photo!
    Planner People: Glue sticker release paper, (glossy side up), to heavy cardstock the size of your planner pages, Punch holes to fit your rings and then load it up with your favorite home made washi! Make a paper tape card for each Season or theme you use, like the "day" planner stamps Nik used, but sized and handy to keep in your planner.
    I also bought a set of Rainbow masking tape on ebay that is tiny-about 1/4" or maybe 3/8" wide. It has more texture than the medical tape but it is really fun to play with.
    My heat tool works when I plug it in, too. : ) Guy looking heat tools are used to blister paint so you can scrape it off a wood surface instead of using a chemical paint remover, but they are way more fun for melting embossing powder!
    Thank you for the great video, Nik. You always make me smile , giggle or laugh out loud and teach me or remind me of something cool. You da best.

    Set up a grid in word. Just rows the size of the strips. set up a narrow row between each one so that you have a bit of space with no overlap. so 1" then .2" then one inch etc. Print that out. attach that to the parchment and use that as your guild for the tape. Drag and drop your images into the cell rows. Shrinking them until they fit. Then make the cell lines invisible for the second round of printing. Now you can print out exactly on the 'Washi' tape.

    Hi, Nik. I, too, am really enjoying your creative/inventive ideas, though I am finding them almost a year after you posted. That's the beauty of CZcams. . . I would love to see a tutorial on how you print with both laser and inkjet on unconventional papers. I'm honestly afraid the papers will disappear into my printers and they'll never work again. I did that with a 3 x 5 index card once and the printer was trashed. So, I'd love to see how you manage to print on non-standard media. Thanks so much for the out-of-the-box thinking.

    A great vid, Nik. I do love your experiments & DIYs. esp when you show us exactly what you discovered - not everyone caters for the visual learner in that way. FYI Lindsay thefrugalcrafter makes an easy anti-static pouch for stamping work that might help with this tape & it's MUCH cheaper than the ones the stamp companies sell. Also, I wondered if anyone had tried this with an inkjet printer, as opposed to a laser one & how successful were they? TFS :)

      oh very cool, will have to find that vid! I have not tried it on an inkjet...Im not sure if it would smear all up or not?? It would def need a mist of the sealer for sure after it has dried...and perhaps even a coating before it goes into the printer??

    That's a great idea. I wonder if the tape will be harder to remove from the parchment paper over time; in my experience, tape gets stickier the longer it sticks to something. But I don't know how long that is, so maybe it doesn't matter. A good reason to use it up!! Love it.

    Love this idea! I tried something very similar but your's is more cost effective! I used double sided tape on the back of tissue paper. I used a Sharpie to journal on the tissue paper at an angle so when the paper was cut into strips with the tape the words could not be read. It was "okay" but limiting in the width and plus the double sided tape cost so much more. I want to try splattering ink or watered down paint on to see how that would look. I really enjoy your videos!!!!!
