I can personally attest to the silent faithful being the greatest factor for people to convert to Christ. Though sadly their efforts are often overlooked even by those converted, because those are the people that build the (metaphorical) pipes and walls of the faith that we overlook.

Modern Catholics too easily make St. Joseph the greatest male saint, dismissing Jesus' own words that no one born of woman was greater than St. John the Baptist. That's why St. John the Baptist is ahead of St. Joseph in the litany of the saints. St. Joseph is #2 hands down, but I'm not going to contradict Jesus and neither should you. The Church herself doesn't in the Litany.

(Luke 7:11) It seems to me that the main idea is contained in the last sentence. The one who humbles himself for the sake of others becomes first. And all of this isn't really that important. In general, all these arguments about status are a trait of our fallen human nature. The first among us is Jesus Christ

Not to take anything away from the obvious holiness of St. Joseph, but isn’t St. John the Baptist the greatest born among women? In the Eastern traditions we ask intercessions from the Mother of God and him in almost equal way. For the Theotokos brought Christ to the world, while the Forerunner brought the world to Christ. One can say there is a possible tradition of his immaculate conception, or at the very least his salvific grace upon the visitation of the Theotokos to St. Elizabeth. If I’m wrong though, I’m glad to have St. Joseph as my intercessor also!
I've always thought, if you want to hear St Joseph, listen closely to Jesus ... a boy learns to be a man by watching his father, listening to his father's way of communicating, emulating his father. Joseph was the privileged earthly father of Jesus. Therefore, it makes sense that you can know a lot about Joseph by noting Jesus's mannerisms, his expressions, his temperament, etc. Joseph would've been hidden in Jesus's style so-to-speak... Granted Jesus's Father is His Source, but St Joseph had his effect on the human personality of Christ I feel safe in saying. And so I think one can see Joseph uniquely in Jesus. What an honor for that chosen, most holy man! 🙏

Whoever says 'I know him' but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him."

I can personally attest to the silent faithful being the greatest factor for people to convert to Christ.
Though sadly their efforts are often overlooked even by those converted, because those are the people that build the (metaphorical) pipes and walls of the faith that we overlook.
It's maybe THE prime example of the virtue required... required... if the Body is to unite. Every single real Christian and local expression of the church must heed the command to be humble for the sake of Christ.

When my son was incurable ill I prayed to St Joseph to intercede so that Christ would cure my son and take him to Heaven. I prayed to him as one father to another and in a week my prayer was answered.

Saints are our friends and they help us during hard times. They’re not dead. I have a Protestant friend who had an experience with St. George . He was about to get into a major and fatal accident and he saw St. George on his horse come and stop his car and saved his life, and he still doesn’t believe in the communion of saints. 🤔
Modern Catholics too easily make St. Joseph the greatest male saint, dismissing Jesus' own words that no one born of woman was greater than St. John the Baptist. That's why St. John the Baptist is ahead of St. Joseph in the litany of the saints. St. Joseph is #2 hands down, but I'm not going to contradict Jesus and neither should you. The Church herself doesn't in the Litany.
"For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he". (Luke 7:11) It seems to me that the main idea is contained in the last sentence. The one who humbles himself for the sake of others becomes first. And all of this isn't really that important. The Gospel describes several instances where the disciples argued among themselves about who was the greatest. And then the Savior placed a child and said that he was the greatest-not because he was a child, but because there was no deceit in him. In general, all these arguments about status are a trait of our fallen human nature. The first among us is Jesus Christ

None of this really matters for how we ought to live the Christian life, but God has revealed something of this to us, so it is fitting to study it and incorporate our understanding into what we know of God and His Kingdom, and into our worship.
The parable of the workers in the vineyard teaches us that everyone who comes to Christ in this life will be saved, that is what the wage paid by the master symbolizes. And those who came earlier in the day grumbled.
But in reality, if one comes earlier to Christ and lives well in accordance with His grace, such a person would have a higher place at the Master's table than one who came later. On the other hand, one who came early but was a poor worker in the vineyard may have a lower place than one who came later but cooperated more fully with grace.
Modern man has a strong egalitarian streak in his thinking, and that has its place. But in truth we are not all equal in this life, nor will we be in the next. It isn't a contest though, just a fact. For each of us the goal is to be a good and faithful servant and, with our free will, cooperate with God's grace to become as holy was He wants us to be, to build up His Kingdom in the ways He wants us to.

Not to take anything away from the obvious holiness of St. Joseph, but isn’t St. John the Baptist the greatest born among women? In the Eastern traditions we ask intercessions from the Mother of God and him in almost equal way. For the Theotokos brought Christ to the world, while the Forerunner brought the world to Christ. One can say there is a possible tradition of his immaculate conception, or at the very least his salvific grace upon the visitation of the Theotokos to St. Elizabeth.

We believe so in the Catholic tradition too. The BVM and St John being the only two saints whose birth is celebrated as a great feast
Bishop B did say a Saint who was not actually a hermit, deacon, pope, etc. They can all be asked for intercessory prayer, though!

I've always thought, if you want to hear St Joseph, listen closely to Jesus ... a boy learns to be a man by watching his father, listening to his father's way of communicating, emulating his father. Joseph was the privileged earthly father of Jesus. Therefore, it makes sense that you can know a lot about Joseph by noting Jesus's mannerisms, his expressions, his temperament, etc. Joseph would've been hidden in Jesus's style so-to-speak... Granted Jesus's Father is His Source, but St Joseph had his effect on the human personality of Christ I feel safe in saying. And so I think one can see Joseph uniquely in Jesus. What an honor for that chosen, most holy man! 🙏

"A saint is someone who disappears into the mission of the church" that is awesome, not catholic but its definitely one of the things alot of us protestants need to embody. Motives are very iffy nowadays, Everyone goes to church but who actually knows God? Because to know God is to follow is commandments.
1 John 2:3-5 - "And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. Whoever says 'I know him' but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him."
"Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force".
