GSH had some lovely items. Isn't it funny how beautiful everyday objects were, because things weren't just disposable back then? I like to go "mud larking" in an old bottle dump from the 20s near my home. The things I find discarded just amaze me. I proudly display that 100 year old trash too 😁

Yes!! My parents always had the left over bathroom tiles wash up on the side of the house each year. Who ever built the house buried the extra tiles in the 70’s. I loved finding them, like it was gold.

I like how you displayed the brushes. There is an interesting assortment shapes I look forward to seeing how you embellish them. I was at a shop recently and there was a box of brand new charcoal I thought of you. It's the shop where things are really cheap. I picked up 3 bottles there they don't have their tops. One is a crinoline lady and I searched online and found one for $25 with its top. The other is a Dutch man and a bird both are without lids.

During the Victorian period leather travelling cases held bottles with sterling and silver plated lids. The leather case was made to hold particular bottles for lotions and potions. Many lids were monogrammed. It's unusual to find the ground glass stoppers I n the bottles because they were lost. The bottles were filled at home with the toiletries of the owner. Ladies were very particular about their scent! I believe gentlemen had a version as well.

Don’t do the boiling water it’s too corrosives especially for something like the brushes. I ruined my flatware by that method. Enjoy hand polishing and take your time getting them done and wear a pr of gloves to save your hands and nails. Nice purchase.

Can you imagine a young hubby looking for a special gift for his bride ? Then having it monogrammed at the jewelers . Things of quality were used and treasured . Passed down in families but in this case maybe no relatives to give it to .
