hey, just wondering how does this lens compare to the Tamron 150-600mm? Im having issues with its focus, considering purchasing an optomizer to customize it. Love the sigma 100-400mm better, with the teleconverter. Much sharper photos than the tamron. Im disappointed, but thinking maybe Ill give it a go with a monopod, as that lens gets quite heavy.
I bought this lens for my 5d mark iv about a year ago and the images I've gotten have blown me away. No kidding. I do a lot of birding. Last trip out I got a male osprey carrying a fish in it's talons, in the air, handheld, os2 mode, which is one of my fave shots I've ever taken. It's a great lens and at under a grand, it's crazy how good of an investment it makes for your kit.
Hello 👋
Hello, 👋Sorry for the random approach you seem to be an ambitious individual which gives me the idea to know if you’re open minded to look into a new way of generating an income,it may or may not be a fit for you, but if I send you some info would you check it out?
Nikon 200-500mm is better
I love how he keeps giving shit to the 600mm guy
sharpenednoodles i
hahahahaha !!!! true !!!
sharpenednoodles nah they are only fucking around cus he keeps shouting out the 600 mm guys company on the back of his shirt, so he doesn’t mind
The 80s movie montage guitar solos after 3:30 are my favorite.
Great video, Jared. I'm an avid air show attendee and this video has been very instructive. Thank you.
Sigma 150-600 Contemporary "Real World Review": Thanks for the great review. I bought this lens a couple of months before your review and I agree with your opinions, except for one. At the 7 minute point you talk about the difficulty in zooming from 150 to 600 by turning the zoom ring. Solution- use the lens body's push/pull feature. I found this is much faster. Keep doing what you do and 'Shoot Raw'.
Not a great idea. Sigma only advertises the “push and pull” for the Sport. Don’t recommend as you may hurt your lens
Your shots of the Blue Arrows close together are amazing.
Awesome review
JerryRigEverything ayyyy zack
You need to rig dslr / lenses too
JerryRigEverything wassup bruh
You should do burn test on Jared's fro.
Congratz on the new car :3
JerryRigEverything hi
Great video great pictures! Love your real world videos.
Take Care
Had this lens for a few months now and love it. It's worth getting the Sigma usb dock so you can change the stabilisation to Dynamic, much more effective than the factory setting. Thanks for the review.
The pictures you captured were amazing! Great review.
Thanks a lot Jared. The best real world review for sigma 150-600m C I have seen so far.
Abdullah Hussain i agree with that.
OMG 21 minutes... i'm not watching th........ Saw the whole video. Excellent review.

Just wanted to say, this was a great review - exactly how reviews should be done! Great balance :) Well done Jared
Man, you have to do a review on the SPORT version. I would love to see how it compares to the contemporary in the real world.
I haven't seen an afro on a white guy since 1973
sir i want canan 5 d mark 3 old plzz tell me prize my conts num 8901198066
True
It's beautiful!
afro is uptodate at time just . every third person woman or men have the afro . this is cool men for this people ;-))))))))))
hahahahaha
At 18:00, speaking about AF: "...7D is consumer body...". When this video was released 7D Mark 2 had the best AF system in Canon world. Only 1DX had the same AF system.
Really REALLY great review! Thank you for choosing the most entertaining -- even exciting -- environment I have EVER seen for any lens review! AWE inspiring in every way - Great review! If they had Emmys for CZcams, you would win big with this one. Thank you!
A good test, I have found shooting fast moving aircraft incredibly challenging and it looks like you got amazing results.
as always your passion for photography shows, great vid Jared and you didn't hide behind specs you took it out and brought home the proof that its a great lens keep it up.
Being an aviation major and getting into photography to shoot at airshows, this review is the single best and most helpful video I've ever seen on this website. Instant subscribe! Keep up the amazing work and amazing reviews! Definately going to be buying this before I head up to Oshkosh this summer!
would you mind letting me know how the lens performed? I plan on picking it up for myself, thanks!
I´ve got this one and I absolutely love it! I agree, it´s purely a nice-weather-lens and really shouldn´t be used indoors. Also it´s not as superduper sharp as a 12k$ lens but as you´ve said: one is able to get the desired shot. This is the best review of this lens that I´ve seen so far Jared (and I´ve watched many before I decided to buy it)! Thank you :)
Hey man I just want to say thank you and that I really appreciate all the informational videos you do and make. Honestly, it really helps out. Keep up the great work.
I am really excited for this lens to arrive now!
I also have the same one.
very nice sigma 150-600 contemporary!!
it has good cost-performance.
Same! I want to upgrade my body for bird photography 7d mark ii or 5d mark iii?
so edy does it work on full frame?
7:30. Read the manual. You don't have to rotate. You can pull and push. Love this glass. I would recommend it to everybody.
I dont have this lens yet, do you actually push and pull on it?!
I didnt find manual, nor the push/pull thing on the internet, could you elaborate?
Thank you Jared. Always a pleasure listening and learning.
Thanks Jared - I've watched several of your Real World reviews. I have been looking at this lens, and appreciate you doing a review for both full frame and crop. That helps alot, and keeps it true Real World. Thanks for thinking of us non-professionals who hobby shoot but don't have full frame gear!
@ 9:08 i was like wtf for a second there, a pan of a bunch of ppl taking pictures and all of a sudden right in the center a freaking giant among them ...he's just on a bench lol
great review man, love your energy. i've been shooting for 30+ years :)
THIS was a GREAT Real-Life Lense Review! The shots were stunning, THANKS 'Fro! 🙌
Thanks for your great review (as usual)!
The pictures of the jets are just awesome!!!
I like who Stephen picked Top Gun style music
Best Review Ever! i'm definitely going to buy this lens
Thank you :)
I love this...great info.& images. Can't stand some of these other reviews with no photo's. Great Job!!!
This review is hands down the best. Bought this for my wife for Christmas. She's so excited to get out and shoot after seeing this, and learned alot. I will have to buy another so we don't have to share!
Thanks for this video!
I think this class of lens has came a long way. The 150-500 OS was ok. The 50-500 OS was pretty good (not as good as my 100-400 mk1 though which wasn't my best lens) but the new 150-600 looks epic. Might be adding that to my bag for my 7D classic for birds and such
Jared you're lucky your country has open carry laws, cause those guns can't be concealed.
That thing ain't a gun, it's a freakin canon.
@@archygrey9093 and built like a tank. 😊
always a pleasure viewing your shows ,keep up the good work mate.
Its really helpful to see a review out in the field in a real life situation. Thank you for giving such an in depth look at a great lens.
Ive got the sports version and its awesome!
Your enthusiasm is entertaining and infectious, in that it propels one to drop everything and go shoot stuff. Thanks.
I keep coming back to this lens after researching lenses for bird photography and I think it’ll make a great starter lens
I have a 55-250 mm lens and am looking to upgrade to this one as well
Thank you for this review! I am looking at upgrading to this lens for airshows so this was the perfect real world review for me.
wish they would make this lens for the GH5!
Just slap an adapter on.
@@KandiKlover :3 sometime the adapter may not have the autofocus or the af would not work as good as it would if we put it on a proper body.
@@khangraw it's gh5 bro :D
@@dennypilot9856 =)) oh yeah, I forgot
@@dennypilot9856 Gh5s auto focus in photography is great.... It video where it lacks
I just purchased this lens and I have to say I’m surprised by it. A lot easier to handle and great sharpness. I had a canon 500mm f/4 but couldn’t handle it due to arthritis in my hands but this lens is a good replacement for me. I am very satisfied with the images it produces. But one you’ll enjoy it
Fabulous Review! I'm looking at that lense vs the Tamron and from what I see, the Sigma would do what I need it to do. Thanks Jared!
I just purchased this lens based on this review. I watched a couple of other reviews but yours was more informative and to the point. Thank you!
Great review.
Just one question:
I'm out of business
Did you move to Canon?
Cause I remember that you used Nikon.
Maybe he got only the Canon version for testing...
Excellent review. Means even more, coming from a professional photographer who doesn't ordinarily like super zooms :) So anxious to get out and start putting it through its paces on my new R5 :)
How did it hold up converting from ef to rf mount?
Thanks for the review, the Blue Angel shots turned out awesome!
One of your best, serious, and enthusiastic reviews of all time. Really enjoyed watching this one. and very informative. thanks man.
I've owned this lens over 2 years now and take thousands of shots and it blows me away how good it si for such a cheap price. I have a very good copy, and it's sharp wide open at 600mm, so I don't have to stop down to f/8 like some people say they do. The cameras this lens absolutely rocks on are the 5D4, 1DX and 1DXII. The focus is very fast on these cameras especially the 1 series and I've used for very fast action with great success. Sure AF is not as good as the Canon superteles, but it's 10% or less of the price of the 500/600 f/4. I'd love them to do an updated version that fixes a few things, like the skinny focus ring, a bit more powerful and faster AF motor, a lock button that allows you to lock at any FL and a better hood that secures more firmly. Other than though I think it's the best zoom supertele out there for the money other than the Nikon 200-500.
"cheap"
That awkward moment I realized I was there too lol.
A great review Fro!!! Keep the great work coming!
Thx for the video! The photos and your review helped me decide to buy this lens in a couple of weeks. Very impressed!
Hi Jared,
This or the Tamron 150-600 for planes, ships, boats and wildlife?
Thanks,
wouldn't consider the 7D mk2 a consumer camera anymore. They jammed the 1Dx autofocus system in there. Basically a pro-grade crop
Semi pro
@JOSHUA STUBBS 7dmk2 is a good camera, but my gh5 can probably take it for everything. The gh5 is about the same price. The d500 is also a better camera for a little more money. If you are already invested in canon, look at the 1dxmkl or 5dmklll
Thanks for making the RAW files available. I checked them in LR and bought this lens
Great review Jared, even today, I love this lens
Great Video Jared. A little to add that this lens could actually zoom using push-pull action, which makes it way quicker than other manufacture's new mega zooms.
6:17 IMAGES TAKEN MOMENTS BEFORE DISASTER!
Lmao
How did I find you here?!
Jared - Excellent video! Perhaps the best review I've seen on a camera lens. Great sample pics and explanations of why and how the pics turned out the way they did!! Since I'm new in the world of photography, it help me understand differences between professional expensive lenses and this one. It also helped me managed my expectations and now I've made my mind on this model. Thanks!
love these type of videos jared. MOre of them please ! :D
9:08 - off camera "give me your lens" stance lol
8:35 Remember when snapchat videos used to be 10 seconds long lol
Great Job!!!! I've watched several video's on this lens and I must say you convinced me to go ahead and purchase this.......
AWESOME JOB on them plane pictures. They look great...I LIKE!!!
Can you review the ZEISS Apo Sonnar T* 4/1700? (to see how effectively it can be used hand held).
+Razor2048 I actually went and took a look at the lens. :D Nice one.
Cheers
+Semeyaza AS soon as mine arrives at the shop ime going to see it too...And take it home ,lol :)
very well done .
still your fun videos style but professionally executed
Thank you
LOVE your Review AND the Photos made, Thank´s for the Great Information
I was considering this for my next lense. I do do airshows too, so this review was like perfect for me.
My last show was shot with a 2x teleconverter and my 70-200mm f.2.8 cannon. 400 was just not enough zoom.
Great Video Jared... How does it compare to the Nikon 200-500.? Thank you.
Go watch my real world comparison between the sport and the Nikon at the Phillies game.
+Jared Polin Yes, I loved that review, also one of your best,, But how does the contemporary version compare? AF speed and sharpness? Thanks again Jared,
+redauwg911 I know it's not a real world comparison, lab tests have shown that the C lens is almost identically as sharp in the center of the frame as the sport, with the sport holding a bit more sharpness at the center. the sport also has less pronounced vignetting, though it does have some. As for focusing speeds, my roommate has the sport and i have the C lens. his focuses a butt hair faster on his d810 than mine does on my d750. OS seems to be pretty much the same. we've gotten tac sharp images of still subjects hand holding at 1/80th.
+sdfE36 Hey, Thanks so much for your reply, Much appreciated, Thank you.
+sdfE36 my WHAT
dam , i realy need to save mony to get some of this lens !
You by far the the best on-hands review for this lens, way to go.
Useful review. Thanks. Looking to purchase the Sport version next year.
for football shooting should i get the sports or the contemporary version?
Luke Sperring thanks!!
If the games are at night and most are you need a faster lens. The least expensive and probably the most popular is the 70-200 f2.8 with image stabilization.
Gene Herrera even for soccer/football matches ? i mean for the long distances
Fro knows his stuff so as the video shows it would be a great lens for distance as long as there is enough light. At night even under the lights to get good pics you need f2.8 lens and in some cases an f4 w/image stabilization if the lighting is really good.
You're downplaying how good the 7Dm2 is by calling it a consumer camera. It's a proper PRO body. The guy next to you probably can afford the 1DX and he's using the 7dm2.. there's a good reason behind that. I'd use the 7dm2 over 5dm3 for that air show any time. The only better body for that would be the 1DX IF you can fill the frame, of course. Thanks for a great video & greets from Croatia.
He may have been shooting the 7dii because of the extra reach it provides...and its sweet autofocus system/fps ability.
+Steve K Um, yeah, I know, what's your point? Maybe you misread my message or didn't get the point. He knows why he used it, I know it too, I commented on something else.
He did a review of 7dii, did he under state it then?
My point is: the guy next to him is using a 7dii over a 1dx because of the extra reach, not because it is a better body. 7dii is the best crop body Canon offers....just my opinion. I have a 7dii and I like it especially for sports but my 6d kicks it's ass in low light...
+Steve K No, he didn't, that's why I'm commenting on this video, and not on that video.
This review was perfect. Thanks so much, was trying to decide what toy... No more extenders for me!
killer review! love your enthusiasm!
Doesn't it suck to be locked in to that one hair style for the rest of your youtube photo personality career?
Great vids, BTW. :)
It'd be funny if he went bald
You need 600mm for kids who are playing in the garden or backyard???????? hahahahahahahahahahah
Well, maybe if you wanted to take photos of your neighbour's kids :s
Or having a very big garden/backyard hahahah
I love how he said "You're probably gonna be shooting kids in your backyard". Maybe reword that a little bit? "Taking pictures of" maybe?
If you are very rich you will have a very big garden so if you wonna take a picture of your kids ,you need at least a 600mm lens to see them lateron in the final picture.
Damn straight, if the kids are out the back playing, don't interrupt them, take photo's from a distance.....
No words! One of the best reviews I've seen so far!
Thanks for the review i just ordered this lens for my canon 7d mark 2 for wildlife photography
"you're probably gonna be shooting kids running around playing sports or in the backyard. That's really what these lenses are meant to do". really???
+hikinenhirvi If you have a massive back yard, maybe lol. I think he just means it's great for fast moving subjects at a distance.
That feels like the most American thing to say tbh
Ha, ha, Jared. I don't expect you to know everything, but those prop planes are certainly not flying 500-600 mph. Very few WWII propeller aircraft can reach those speeds and they also have to be in a dive.
Per the Rain man, about 500 miles and hour. Sounds about right to me and I work on planes. A jet? A thousand miles and hour. Oh, and I noticed that the props were frozen. I never for a minute was worried that the prop planes would fall out of the sky.
I know, an not and. I've always said and.
p51 could reach around 400 possibly 450 (using WEP). Modded with certain parts from today, the p51 could reach 500. In a dive, not modded, could EASILY reach 500.
I've been shooting with this lens for a year and a half with good results. After watching your video, I learned 3 new tips I never knew about my lens that should improve it's use even further. Thank you!
Thanks for the great review - I am really tempted to get this
i have never seen a black seagull
+M.C. Grigg It was a Juvenile Herring Gull
+M.C. Grigg remember, black lives matter...lol
M.C. Grigg males are the typical white and gray that most people think of. The darker black and gray are females. With birds the females are usually darker and not as interesting to look at because it helps them hide and protect their nest.
You racist
Heheheh 5.36 if you remove the lens cap your camera works alot better. :P
Really enjoyed this review! Very informative and well done. Thank you!
Great review! I believe I'll be adding this lens to my bag.

500-600 mph wtf, those maybe fly half of that
yes xD looks like his hair takes away alot of ability to think
The shot of the blues solo 5 with the vapor he was over 650 MPH
P51 Mustangs averaged 430mph stock, and with todays tech and modifying, I can see 500+ easy on a P51, so no he wasn't pulling shit out his arse lolz.
ikr. Sphoxros at least you and I know what he was on about. I could see totally see 500 mph on the 51.
There actually is a P51 that goes over 550mph lol so ya its a thing :D, and Jared was more or less making a point, that its harder to shoot high speed objects, which isn't easy to shoot, I mean imagine if he was trying to get a shot of a baldface hornet at full speed, that's a pain in the arse lol and they've been clocked at 90+ O.o.... lolz
Guy is really enjoying that scratch at 4:16 behind Jared.
Jared, very live review, not boring to listen!
