- I am so glad I got a chance to speak with one of the last remaining Afro Mexicans in Veracruz Mexico. Veracruz for many centuries had the most Afro Mexicans. But in 20-30 years they will go extinct. Sosima Virgen and her family were super welcoming. We spoke about many issues that Afro-Mexicans face.

Que linda senora. Anda en los 90 y es muy risuena y agradable. Que dicha vivir ahi. Los felicito.
I am sooooo sorry to hear that the Afro-Mexicans in Veracruz are going exint. Especially in the Mata Clara area. It is an area full of history of the black people. It was nice to hear Sra. Sosima Virgen's story. She looks good for a 90 year old woman. Her story was soo sad- She only went to school as a second grader as an adult??? Wow. All the work in a field is a very hard life. That's why all the young people are leaving and going north to Los Angeles. She made sure your kids got an education. I also love that she could tell you who was from Mata Clara and who was not. She's sharp. Great video. Thanks for sharing it.
Thank you so much for the watching the video
Absolutely, she is incredible: her brain and memory is very good. I think her birthday was in December. Super super nice family
Por que ñlo lamentas eso solo indica que no hay discriminación, el mestizaje es bueno
Africanos will never go extinct. Africanos can mingle with a lighter skin person all they want to but there will always be a generation of brown no matter. Trujillo tried to extinct Africanos in the DR it did not work
You need to meet the people at the Costa Chica of Guerrero There are many of who have African descendents that live there!
Yes. You are correct. I made many videos with them. I just to edit
Man, I'm Mexican and I just discovered your channel, you have a lot of amazing content! loving every video! 🫶
Wow, thank you so much. I have filmed many more interesting videos. I just need to edit them. Thank you
Saludos otra vez Compa. Tu español es especial
Thank you so much, I am still learning Spanish. I hope it gets better. I speak English and Somali
He ran the stop sign.😂
i am certain i have african blood. we just dont know.... My cousins came out white But with hair and feature of spanish and indian.. my aunt had 4 daughters. 1st is 5'1'" brown skin like a regular mexican but her body and curly hair is not indian or spanish. 2nd one came out 5'5" straight hair indian feature and tan skin 3rd came out white 5'10" with hair texture like a blk woman (not exaggerating) 4th cam out brown black features 5'9" with curly hair
This is very interesting. I am African American. I am studying Spanish. If this community established a Spanish Language Learning Cooperative with a defined curriculum, I'm sure they could generate their own incomes. I'd rather spend 6/8 weeks studying and practicing with them that at the local community college! Help them make it happen!!!
Thank you for the comment. The community is mostly older people. Most of the men work in the sugar cane industry. For example, both of her sons are truck drivers
When the Confederate party lost the civil war in the states most of the rich guys didn't stay they fled with their slaves to different parts of south america much of the in Veracruz mexico. There for these people
Nice video, keep going dude.
Thanks for the support. I editing better videos
Beautiful video! What a lovely familia. 🙏
I am afromexican
That is really nice. I visited many Afro Mexican communities in Mexico. Some of the best people in the world.
My family is from Veracruz and we definitely have Afro blood but since we’re mixed with native , etc the Afro features aren’t as strong as the old generation.
So your ashamed of native ?
@@fernandotapia8017 omg she is not saying that. She is just explaining why they don't look as afro as them. 🙄
I'm from Alvarado Veracruz and also have African ancestry even though I don't look it. Some of my family has afro features. I took a DNA test which confirms this. Even the term Jarocho has its roots in our African ancestry. Veracruz is very tri-racial in many areas.
I wonder if the decrease of the AfroMexican community had to do with the absence of segregation in Mexico as a country? I know the Catholic Church was very strong on interracial marriages during the colonial times..
woo soy de cordoba y tamvien conoci ese pueblo ay mucha gente afro que orgulloso mesiento de toda esa gente pero dedes ase 25 años vivo en sandiego california
Concordia Sinaloa surrounding towns has a lot black too mestizos
The term Mestizo doesn’t apply to Afro Mexicans. Mestizo is exclusively reserved for descendants of Spaniards and Native Americans.
Blacks in Mexico are either 1 of 3… 1) Mulatos, which is a Spaniard+African 2) Zambo, which is a Native American+African or 3) Pardo, a triracial person of Spanish+African+Native American blood.
They’re nothing like Afro Americans nor have the same genomics as Afro Americans.
Afro Americans are mixed with African and Anglo Saxons. Some with Native Americans but more so with Anglos
Hirsi, you've done a great service with your video but be veeeeeeeery mindful of how you address people in Mexico and in the rest of Latin America. No one would address an older person or someone who you just met as "tu". Addressing someone that way is considered very rude, even if the people you address say it's okay. Use "Usted". It's the polite form. I might be old school but it is grating to hear someone younger address an older person in Spanish as "tu". You do great work but be mindful of cultural norms in Latin America.
Thank you so much for the comment. I really don’t speak Spanish. Definitely not well. Thank you for telling me the correct way to communicate with someone older. I don’t know many Spanish words. Tú seemed liked a word that someone can understand
@@HirsiTV You're welcome, Hirsi. Continue your good work!
Wow this is nice … it makes me more proud to be Honduran cause we marry black and there’s still a strong presence of black… the white hispanics are very acceptable of our culture ..
INGENIO IS A PLACE A FACTORY WHERE THEY PRODUCE SUGAR.
My 23andMe DNA test said my third-great-grandparent was West African.
It’s super interesting to know that many Mexicans carry African dna
@@HirsiTV Yes, all of my Mexican relatives on 23andMe have at least trace African ancestry. Usually about 3-4% on average.
We Mexicans are the real deal.
What you talk about man? I'm mostly Native American 88%. My wife is Anglo, my children are all racialy mixed born in the USA. You saying I'm extinct? I don't feel extinct.
Cool story dude
After you, what happens. Your kids marry Anglo, what happens.
Why are they going extinct?
sorry didn't watch the whole video.
Everyone basically married someone who is not black. The bloodline has weakened and the grandchildren don’t look black anymore
@@HirsiTVAre you seriously trying to push for racial purity in a country you don't have a connection to? 🤣 Christ the world has gone mad LOL
@@timasuna1756 thanks for the comment. I am not trying to push a racial agenda. I hope you watched the whole video. It was a video about talking with one of the last remaining Afro-Mexicans in Mexico.
And I actually have a connection to Mexico. I spent more than 1 year of my life in a Mexico. I made many many friends. Many people helped me and I helped many people.
I have visited every state in Mexico. I really like the country and I really like Mexican people. Plus, I grew up with Mexicans. Went to school together, lived together in same neighborhoods, worked together and ate together.
@@HirsiTV Mexicans are friendly most times by nature, but they are seeing what's going online. They are begiinning to grasp how race obsessed not just Americans but African people are. My suggestion would be to not focus on race, they'll begin to see you as someone to other. Resentment to the Wests culture is growing in LATAM, same as it is in Africa. You keep this up, you'll piss them off. You were told what's gonna happen, don't cry when it happens if you choose not to listen. We don't speak on race in Mexico, it's a taboo to even ask a person what they are that way. Everyone is just Mexican, from poor to rich. The only thing that matters is money.
@@HirsiTV Have a safe trip 👍
why call them afro. they are mexicans. in the usa they called them black americans they make a difference in their own country. i have a black mexican grandmother and nobody call her afromexican
Thanks for the comment. I have spent a lot of time visiting various “Afro Mexican” communities in Mexico. Many of them refer to themselves “Negro/Afro Mexicano”
If you watch the complete video you will see her daughter say that “typical Mexicans” ask her where she is from
I am not the one who is making the divide.
Her son in the video said that Mexican enforcement officials think he is from a different country
@@HirsiTV im sure there is people who would ask. im from tierra caliente, it is in the state of michoacan and borders guerrero and there is people all over mexico who have black family members and it never crosses our mine that they are afromexicans because we dont call white mexicans anglomexicans. it just dont make sense to divide when we love all colors.
There’s no such thing as Afro Mexicans. Come on guys
Thanks for the comment David
They are recognized but the government constitution as Afro-Mexicans
@@HirsiTV Assalamu alaykum
@@DavidLopez-vc2tf wa alaikum assalam
Nicca we basically “black” Mexicans
Theirs Afro Americans, Afro Cubans, Afro Brazilians. I dated a girl who came from Nicaragua. She identified as Afro Nica. Nica is short for Nicaraguan. So yeah there is such a thing as Afro-Mexican.
