  • On invitation from the Aetolian League, Antiochus III invades the Greek mainland in September 192 and declares war against the Roman Republic. Though he held many victories under his belt, Rome proved to be a fiercer opponent than anticipated, forcing Antiochus to go on the defensive and take the fight back to Asia. A final confrontation on the plains of Magnesia (modern Manisa) would determine who was to be the dominant power of the Hellenistic world.

I Always listen to the Roman-Seleucid war rooting for the Seleucids but always knowing how it actually plays out. The worst part is that Antiochus made the same mistake he first made at Raphia.

And which mistake that will be? Just interested what else could he have made?

@@mishkosimonovski23 On his wing of the flanks he was able to route the Romans but instead of turning about to attack the rest of the enemy army from behind and support his phalanx while it was still viable and hadn't been broken yet he gave chase to the fleeing Romans till he reached their camp and was turned away. Same thing sort of happened at Raphia, he was able to route Ptolemy's cavalry on his side of the battle but he gave chase to the fleeing enemy instead of Supporting the phalanx by attack the enemy phalanx from behind . His mistake in both battles was not doing the Hammer and anvil tactic.

@@Dataism i think the deciding factor was morale.... most of the army were fighting for money, mercenaries or subordinate nations. They were not the old Macedonians who fought with Alexander leading in front.

Repost this with some video, and you'll get far more views and likes.
Even a slide show format would make it more watchable.

@@EdgarStyles1234 Yes, and that guarantees a minimal following. Especially for something as slow as this presentation. Some audio-only podcasts are better at keeping the listener's attention. THIS one desperately needs to at least have a slide show thrown in to keep it tolerable.
Again, it may have been made for that old-timey audio-only podcast format, but THIS is YuckTub, a video service.

Pretty clear that CZcams is not the prioritized platform for this podcast. It's just a bonus. I listen to this at work and would not benefit from a video in the slightest. I think it's a reasonable request, but it's not quite as easy or necessary as you seem to think. I'm sure you would agree that the creator of this podcast has infinitely more incentive to improve the quality and accessibility of the podcast than you do. So if he hasn't added any accompanying visuals, there's probably a reason for that.
