you asked why the sun doesn't harm Armand: he answers that question in S1E7! "As we age, the sun loses its power over us. What's a mediocre star to a 514 year old vampire?" The oldest and strongest vampires only get a tan from standing out in the sun.

I think Akasha is the chaotic strong vamp you're looking for and I do believe she's coming 💅🏼
There are different reasons that make a vamp stronger/weaker such as maker, age, vamps and beings they drank from, number of fledglings... And let's just say Lestat has been around 😂😂😂 But the timeline is different from the books though, we just don't know exactly how. I love this series so much 💜

Daniel isn't a vampire bc he would have to be drained close to death then drink the blood of the vampire who drained him. And FYI Lestat is the strongest vampire bc he drank Akasha's blood. Before that she was the strongest. She was depicted in the movie Queen of the Damned by Aliyah.

Lestat drinks from the queen mother Akasha and gets stronger, but also suffers because it's a.... non consensual relationship, to say the least. Lestat's maker was also quite powerful and an alchemist. By the end of the Chronicles, he powers up but I won't spoil it for you. As for the books, the writers went for some easter eggs and some characters' traits or plots were transferred to one character to another (it was Lestat who hunted evil people, Lestat was dropped from a tower and broke his bones... by Armand for refusing to love him). So yeah things are muddled and we don't know where this is going.

As CZcamsr @ihaveadatetonight puts it, "Nobody's a hero, everyone's a victim" in this show. I wouldn't call Armand a bad person, exactly, because at this point, he's barely a person at all. At least, he's been so screwed over for several centuries straight that he doesn't know how to be one, and he cannot tell right from wrong. He certainly doesn't have an identity of his own. He's whatever his obsession seems to want him to be. This episode, the quietly enraged, pathetic, feral child torturing Daniel, sincerely seeking to learn how to mimic behavior others find fascinating, a hungry, empty vessel, was the first time you've seen the real Armand. And I love him so much.
Also, Lestat isn't stronger than Armand just yet. Things happen in a few books.

Then he was kidnapped by a cult and tortured and brainwashed by them. He has no experience of equal relationships. About the series, yes, we're still on Interview with the Vampire. But this series is adaptation of the Vampire Chronicles as whole, so they bring elements or sub-plots from later books into this. Like, the Armand flashback in episode 3 is an adaptation of the novels The Vampire Lestat and The Vampire Armand. A part of Louis ' plot here is taken from Merrick.

"Everybody" doesn't include me. I DON'T like Lestat. I like watching Lestat, of course, but I don't like his personality. I find him fatuous and facile. He's charming, as narcissistic people tend to be, but I don't find arrogance endearing. I'm put off by the peacocking types. I'm more drawn to Armand's introversion and have empathy for his brokeness (and I find him the most attractive) but his actions are obviously inexcusable. The boy needs some fucking therapy is where I land on Armand. He's severely fucked up, but I don't think he's evil. He and Lestat both abuse Louis but in different ways; he'd never beat or cheat on Louis, but he's controlling in subtle, twisty ways. He's manipulated Louis into a state of learned helplessness so he won't leave. At the end of the day, he and Lestat do what they do to Louis for the same reasons, because they're terrified of losing him.
