    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I'm far from genius but thanks for the compliment. As for which Adobe apps to use, depends on what you're planning on doing. As an cartoonist, I use Adobe Illustrator. As a graphic designer, I use Adobe Photoshop. For editing my CZcams videos I use Premiere Pro and After Effects. And for my book publishing I use Adobe InDesign. And if I need to remix any music for my videos, I use Adobe Audition.
      So for me, the entire Adobe Creative Cloud bundle makes the most sense because it's way cheaper to purchase all of the apps, than it is to purchase just 2 or 3 per month. So I guess it depends on what you need the software to do?

    Hi Craig, why do you download the files for KDP in RGB instead of CMYK...do you think the covers will look more vibrant and similar to the original design this way? Thank you Craig 😊

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin  Před 7 měsíci +2

      When I'm creating my covers in Adobe Illustrator (which I usually do), I always save out in CMYK, but that's because I have access to Pantone Color Swatches, which give you the most vibrant colors in print. Inside of Book Bolt, the colors you see in the studio are RGB, and when you save out in CMYK, they're just converting those RGB colors to CMYK. Print Houses like KDP are actually better at converting RGB images to CMYK, than most software programs are.

    Thank you for your tutorials Craig. They are very well laid out and a great help to beginners like me. I have a question about the puzzles generated for this particular video. I followed your example to create something similar. All seemed well but I noticed during the formatting that some of the harder puzzles had almost all the cells filled with numbers. I am absolutely certain that different difficulty settings were used. Strangely, for some pages, one or two of the six puzzles will be almost completely filled. Did you notice something similar when you generated the puzzles for this tutorial? Your response will be much appreciated. I am considering manually deleting some of the numbers in the cells for the harder puzzles.

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin  Před 4 měsíci

      That's odd. It shouldn't be filling in more empty tiles (with numbers) as you make the puzzle harder, it should just be adding more tiles to the puzzle overall. You may want to submit a ticket with Book Bolt to see if you can get an explanation as to why this is happening.
      That being said, I don't play Sudoku so I'm not really sure how it works. Maybe the puzzles actually get harder with the less options you have? If you do contact BB, let me know how it works out!

      @CraigBabin Update. I heard back from Book Bolt and they are looking into it. They suggested deleting the affected pages, tagging on new blank pages and replacing with new puzzles.
      If I had to guess what happened, it could be the puzzle generator was going through some kind of enhancement around the same time I generated my files. I tried to generate new Sudoku puzzles to test the different difficulty levels when I saw the issue with the hard puzzles, but I always got an error message then. I was able to create new puzzles again yesterday and managed to test different difficulty levels. The puzzles looked more consistent with the difficulty level. Additionally, each puzzle now has a subtitle - a great timesaver during formatting. I guess I was just unlucky with my timing.

    That was a great video. Thanks for sharing the information. Too bad that the Book Botlz wants you to add the Sudoku numbers manually for each puzzle. That is a bummer. Imagine manually typing the number from 1 to 1000 for bothe puzzles and associated solutions.

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin  Před 5 měsíci +2

      Your comment, sums up everything that is wrong with the world today ... laziness! It's why people just want to type in a few descriptive words and then push a button, so that a computer can create art for them, instead of using their God given creativity to do it themselves. Why authors are no longer writing imaginative and engaging stories taken from their own personal experiences; instead, they're just typing in a prompt to ChatGPT and letting the computer do it for them. Human creativity is dying and all most people can do is sit and complain that it's taking too long.
      10 years ago this Sudoku puzzle book would have taken weeks to complete, now it can be done in hours. And people are still complaining. A few years from now companies like Amazon will dominate AI technology and customers will be able to create any book they want with the push of a button. And when that day comes, there will be no need for artists, writers or creatives of any kind, and the ability to make a living creating Sudoku books to sell on Amazon will no longer exist, because AI will control it all.
      If you think the inconvenience of having to spend 20 minutes manually typing in 1000 numbers to be able to make passive income is a bummer, then just wait until the ability to make passive income no longer exists thanks to AI ... that will really be a bummer! The easier things get to make, the less need there is for humans.
      Be careful what you wish for, you just may get it!

      @@CraigBabin That was an odd, rude, and sarcastic comment for appreciating your video. If you don't know just say so, or you could just responded, "Book Bolt does not have that feature".
      A good enthusiastic teacher educates and respond to students without being sarcastic. Looks like you are frustrated with yourself and the world.
      It is not laziness. In this day and age with advanced technology, computing auto generated numbers or page numbers is not a big ask. End of this discussion

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin  Před 5 měsíci

      @@SatyaSanathani First of all, I'm glad that you liked the video, and my comment was not meant to be rude or sarcastic in any way, it was purely a comment on what's wrong with society today. And I wasn't blaming you for it, we're all guilty of this lazy mindset at some point in time in our lives. But you didn't ask me if there was a way to have the puzzle numbers populate automatically, you just commented that it sucked that you had to do it.
      Your comment made it sound like you were upset that someone was asking you to give up 20 minutes of your time to potentially be able to make thousands of dollars selling a Sudoku book. "Imagine manually typing the number from 1 to 1000 for both puzzles and associated solutions." I can imagine it, it's about 20 minutes and it's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.
      The point of my comment was that the simpler and simpler technology makes our work related tasks, the less businesses require human workers to make a profit. Trust me, you don't want creating a Sudoku book to get so easy that all you have to do is push a button to do it. Why would Amazon pay you a 6% royalty to do something that they could just get the customer to do for free?! The answer is, they wouldn't.
      And as for your comment about being a good teacher, I wasn't responding to you sarcastically, I was responding to you truthfully. Unfortunately, sometimes the truth hurts. You're right, I am frustrated; because I see so many talented people not utilizing their talents simply because it's a hell of a lot easier just to push a button. And as someone who has been working in this industry for a long time, I know where that road leads; and trust me, it's not where they think it will.
      I don't spend hundreds of hours of my time creating these videos because I don't give a crap about my viewers, on the contrary, I want all of you to succeed. And none of you are going to be able to do that, if everyone just keeps encouraging technology to simplify our lives until we reach the point where we as humans are no longer needed! And people need to wake up to that fact.
      If my comment offended you, I apologize, it wasn't meant to. I was merely pointing out that making things simpler comes at a price.

      @@CraigBabin Thanks for your comments and good response. I understand my comment came across as asking for easy solution. Just as an FYI. I did check the Book Bolt site and they do have a round about way of adding puzzle numbering. Just add the first blank template with page numbers, and then move the word "Page" to where you want and replace with "Puzzle #". The system will update by autogenerating the page number. I did not try it. This probably applies only on one puzzle per page.

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin  Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@SatyaSanathani Yeah, I think it would be one per page. It's more for numbering pages than the puzzles themselves. Just keep in mind that when you're doing a large number of puzzles, you only have to individually number the puzzles themselves on the original puzzle pages. When it comes to the puzzle solutions, all you have to do is copy all 6 puzzle numbers, word and number (at one time) from the puzzle page, and then paste them to the corresponding solution page. This will cut your numbering time in half. Just open up two browser windows, each with it's own session in Book Bolt, one with the puzzles and the other scrolled down to the puzzle solutions, and then just go back an fourth from window to window copying and pasting.

    Is it activity book containing one of the Book bolt options like mazes, sudokus etc considerated as AI generated /Assisted according to the newest rules?

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin  Před 8 měsíci +3

      I would think no, but I could be wrong. If anything, it would be considered AI assisted, because the page content still has to be laid out and designed by the books creator. No one is using the puzzles the way they come out of the generator, the page still needs to be stylized and formatted. And the books' creator has to input the words being used in the puzzles, the generator is merely scrambling them up.
      And there's no possible way to plagiarize or violate copyright with those puzzle generators. They're just creating random numbers, letters and lines based on settings that the creator has inputted.
      I've sent a message to KDP and I'll let you know when I get a definitive answer.

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin  Před 8 měsíci +5
